[Trade] Warriors have obvious Jonathan Kuminga trade demand after latest Kings reports

I can see Orlando wanting to bring in Malik Monk. They need more playmakers and floor spacers and are probably ready to move Jonathan Isaac at this point who has fallen out of their rotation and might be a fit in Golden State. Orlando and Sacramento need to throw in more to match salaries. So maybe something like this?

Tyus Jones (ORL) and Jonathan Isaac (ORL) to GSW = 22M
Jonathan Kuminga (GSW) to SAC = 22.5M
Malik Monk (SAC) and Drew Eubanks (SAC) to ORL = 21.1M

Westbrook and McDermott have the same salary as Eubanks and all three contracts expire at the end of the year so Orlando could take their pick of which vet they want to rent short-term. Tyus Jones is also expiring at the end of the year so Golden State would be saving $7.5 million off next year's cap though they would be committing to Isaac for three more years (sortof). Only half of Isaac's contract is guaranteed for next season unless he plays 52 or more games this season and the next two years are fully non-guaranteed unless that same games played threshold is reached the previous season.

Jalen Suggs is injured rather often. He has only played 23 of 38 games this season, and a total of 35 last year. In fact, he has played more than 45 games in only one season out of four thus far. Monk is a better three-point shooter. Orlando overall needs floor spacing. They are about tied in 3P% with the Kings, at 24th and 25th.

I think the Kings want to hold on to Westbrook as their starting point guard and floor leader.

Unless a hungry team that thinks he can help them go on a deep run offers us a FRP I think he'll finish the year here. I think he's proven he can still play and might be able to chase his career stats here (not saying that's good for us) and then sign one final deal with a contender next season.

I read the Nets want 2 FRPs for Porter. I;m not a huge MPJ fan but I still think this is way too good for GS. Seems like the Nets could do better.

They said the same thing for Cam Johnson. I’m guessing they would take a first from Golden State and 2 seconds from us. Of course if I was the Nets I’d probably just take Kuminga and a first instead of Monk, a first and 2 seconds.

I think the Nets are looking to get off MPJ as soon as possible. He's been too good and that team is starting to win too many games for what they're trying to do. Now 4.5 games "up" on the Kings for a bottom 3 seed and 2 "up" on WAS for the 4th

I think the Carter & Saric offer was a strategic ploy, hoping the dubs negotiators would make critical mistakes from a lack of oxygen after laughing so hard...

What was the summer offer? Carter+Saric+protected FRP? Or Monk+Protected FRP?

Ouch. Thankfully their ego is going to get us a real discount
Don't know for sure, but the Warriors were pretty publicly insisting on a FRP, whatever the players/salary going back might have been.

I believe it was Monk, Saric and Carter to start and they wanted a FRP. We said we could do Monk, Saric and a protected first and they held firm.

Prior to that point, we were sending Monk to Detroit and going to use our trade exception to take in Kuminga but also Golden State who claimed to want cap space for not wanting Monk rebuffed that.

Unserious organization that lucked into the perfect decade at least in part because they didn't have to pay their megastar real money until his third contract because of fortuitous injury timing in his early career.

Makes you wonder if Perry might want to look the other way himself.

Nah.

I have an inkling we are the "only suitor" because of Kuminga telling everyone he wanted to play in Sac. If that report is to be believed from the summer.

Regardless, for the cost, this is a no-brainer. There has to be an effort to clear the runway to get Carter on the floor too, at some point. This helps that

He's an athletic wing who is young and still has plenty of potential. Guys like him your biggest question is motivation and if their give-a-f isn't broken. GS have certainly done their part to hurt the latter. He's got one more year under contract that regardless of whether he is a long term solution or not, with the glut of guards we have and the fact we aren't going anywhere over the next 3 years, we really are in a can't say no situation with Kuminga unless draft compensation or players we consider part of our long term are involved.

Yeah, when the package included a FRP thos summer, there was risk, but still an ok bet to make. Now, virtually no downside at a position we have no depth at and can give him a real look at big minutes and USG to see what he does with it.

Which is why I imagine he wants to come here. Along with the glowing remarks from Armstrong and Perry, he probably just wants to be in a place that believes in him and gives him a shot. GS has done everything to insure he feels the opposite the last few years

Noooo, you don't say? The Warriors fake posturing of them trying to act like Kuminga was a desired young piece to their team only to show how much they want him out the door didn't work? Noooooooooo
At what point does Curry just say F this. I understand most teams don't want to mortgage their future if they don't believe it will result in a reasonable shot at a championship, but Curry is still a top 10 player in the league. I don't care how hard they plan for it, when he's gone, they are nothing more than a run of the mill organization again. They have been living off his greatness for 10+ years now, if I were him I would demand they do anything possible to give him one last chance at another ring (even if the odds are slim). In isolation, trading Kuminga is not going to fetch value needed to get there, but it's become so ridiculous at this point that it's symbolic of their overall view on Curry's remaining years.

Could be but he had fairly little value this summer as well from the sounds of it.
