[Trade] Warriors have obvious Jonathan Kuminga trade demand after latest Kings reports

Warriors gonna run the clock out praying for a better offer. Which won’t come. Perhaps bring his value down even more as they get really desperate. It would be extremely hilarious for him to remain on the warriors until summer. Love the drama during curry’s last few years.

The bit about Monk's salary in that article is misleading. Monk only has 2 years and $41 million remaining after this season (the second year of which is a player option). They're already committed to the salary for this current season, whether they pay it to Kuminga, Monk, or someone else.

Yeah, DeRozan makes way more sense for them than Monk. He slides easily into the role Andre Igoudala played on their championship teams. Unfortunately, they really need a starting PF far more than they need a good sixth man so that's probably why they're still posturing. They've put themselves in a position where they've killed Kuminga's value and can't trade him for a viable starting forward without throwing in draft compensation. But without that viable starting forward their season is in peril.

We can throw in their old friend Dario Saric or Drew Eubanks to play PF. We can even let them pick which one they want! :cool:

The Warriors are set up well to make a splash in 2027, so, much like LaVine and the Kings possibly buying him out rather than taking on longer money would it be surprising to see the Warriors just not pick up Kumingas option? If Perry made any type of imprint on Kuminga then he might be able to land him with the MLE in free agency if he wants regardless. Doesn't sound like any of the few cap teams have much interest to begin with and certainly no team is going to say "hey, here's the keys".

I was thinking, what about if the Warriors trade Kuminga, filler and their ‘26 first for Klay and Gafford? They get an upgrade at center, don’t touch any of their future picks and Klay, Green and Kerr can do a 2 year retirement tour.

True- because of the hard cap, the Kings actually need to take on more salary than Kuminga.

Two options that work:

1) DeRozan for Kuminga and someone making between $3-9M (Melton, Podz, Horford or Buddy). Dubs would want it to be Buddy, I'd insist of Podz.

2) DeRozan and filler (someone making between $2-10M) for Kuminga and Moody. Dubs would want Keon, but other options include Eubanks, Westbrook, Precious, McDermott, Carter, Saric. I'd personally just offer an expiring like McDermott, Eubanks, or Saric.

Including Keon and getting Moody back is pretty interesting. That helps their goal of cleaning out some of their long-term salary too. We get a young wing signed for the next couple years that should be able to fit with whatever we end up doing in the 26 draft.
