Wacky Midnight Trade Idea

Ok, so I'm up past my bed time and just playing around. I've been on real gm checking trades for fun and somehow made this one that I thought was interesting enough to post. It may be a stretch, since it does involve a Kobe trade (and a few too many picks), but I can see him making a big stink if he isn't dealt.

Sac Outgoing:

Kevin Martin
John Salmons

Sac Incoming:

Daniel Gibson
Drew Gooden
Draft Picks #19, #40, #48 (from Lakers)

Lakers Outgoing:

Kobe Bryant
Draft Picks #19, #40, #48

Lakers Incoming:

Larry Hughes
Kevin Martin
John Salmons

Cleveland Outgoing:

Daniel Gibson
Larry Hughes
Drew Gooden

Cleveland Incoming:

Kobe Bryant

Salaries match and everything works with CBA.

Why Sac Does this: This may seem dumb to move your best young piece when you're rebuilding, but nothing says rebuilding than getting four draft picks:) . This gives us a starting PF that doesn't suck and a clutch backup PG to boot. Losing salmons contract is nice and his minutes are given to Garcia:D . Did I mention 4 draft picks?

Why Lakers do this: Kobe pressure. He looks like he's going to stink up the joint with his Hubris and trade demands. If he must be moved you won't get equal value for Kobe Bryant. They wouldn't want to take on another center to eat up Bynum's minutes so this trade replaces a SG with a SG. Kevin is no Kobe, but he is young, explosive, and on the rise. Hughes' contract isn't nice, but that would help fill the PG hole, and Salmons is a backcourt bandaid (1/2/3). Lakers have to give up the picks to con the Kings out of Martin.

Why Cleveland does this: Basic Math...Kobe + LeBron = Championship :) .

Kings Lineup Before Draft

PG: Mike Bibby
SG/SF: Francisco Garcia
SF: Ron Artest
PF: Drew Gooden
C: Brad Miller

PG: Daniel Gibson
PG/SG: Quincy Douby
SF/PF: Corliss?
PF: Kenny Thomas
PF/C: Shareef Abdur-Rahim

PG/SG: Ronnie Price
PF/C: Justin Williams

Still have picks #10, #19, #40, and #48 :D .

While I appreciate the thought you put into this, there's no possible way the Lakers participate in this deal. They can get so much more in return regardless how much Kobe whines.

To pry Kobe away from LA, it's gonna take at least an established all-star + another young player / draft pick.

Uh... Kevin Martin and Salmons for Gibson, Gooden and some not-very-good picks?

It's bedtime, Jespher.

You may want to consider deleting this thread in the morning after you've sobered up. ;)

Kevin for the #19 indeed.

I understand why the Cavs would do it, i understand why the lakers would do it but why in hell would we do it, lol. This is the first time i have seen a trade that is made to make the other team better instead of ours, lol.

He Hate Me

Wow. I should change my name to He Hate Me. Jeez:mad: . I like this trade still because it addresses our two biggest problem areas, starting PF and backup PG. This also gives us tremendous flexibility in a very deep draft. There will be several developing bigs in the second round and this gives us two picks there (which many people has said is a good thing). The #19 pick isn't garbage and I bet we can get a quality player there. We still have the #10 pick too and can target Joakim Noah, Yi Jianlian, or the like there.

I know Kevin Martin is young and an up and coming scorer, but at this point everybody on the kings is tradable if it makes the team better. I feel that filling our biggest holes by taking a hit at our deepest position (predraft) would go a long way to improving our wins for years to come.

I feel bad for you that you stayed up and took the time to make a trade scenario that...

a.) Wouldn't happen in a million years
b.) Is horrible for the Kings

Back to the drawing board for you.

your trading our most prized asset for a powder puff soft PF and a unproven 2nd round pick PG. the 2nd round pick PG got most of his looks from lebron being double, tripled and quadrupled teamed. we also get LOL some late first rounders. Sorry dude, i KNOW we can get more for Kmart. he's worth a lottery pick.

don't take any of the criticism personal. the kings are in a rebuilding mode right now. with your trade proposal we don't solve any of our real needs. the team needs a major overhaul.. first, by moving some of the vets to clear room for young players to get some floor time. second, acquiring some young promising talent.
