To his credit, Bill Walton at least gives off the impression that he’s actually watched a basketball game in the last ten years and enjoys the sport. Zeke was just “there”
Zeke was awful for the few little bits I listened to. Sounded like he was asleep half the time and just waking up to say something. He didn't know how to pronounce the players' names, had no clue what was going on in the game, and the inane rambling was just terrible.

If you can contain Walton to short spurts he is incredibly interesting. The problem is when he gets talking there is no stopping him and I think sometimes he forgets there is a game going on.

Salute to the people who watched this clang fest listening to Zeke. Kings fans are really hardy.
I'm loving the box score and highlights, but without a high end rookie that I'm super excited to see (all apologies to Colby, who I am excited about, but never expect to be a star) I just can't sit through these summer league games.

Wow. I recorded the game and haven't watched it yet. It appears that it should just be deleted and move on for multiple reasons based on the comments on this thread..

So I watch all basketball games on mute.. many many years now.. Unless its like some super small school broadcast on ESPN3, I love those thats how I remember Pascal Siakam at New Mexico State. Have like 10 screens so its always a multi-tasking situation BUT at the same time... I know all these players here in SL's names, by heart, by memory, I watched a vast majority of them in college.. This "on-air" talent gets handed some sort of peice of paper from a program director with some relevant context, n I often feel like I know way more off the top of my head..

maybe im weird tho, Antetokounmpo is neither hard to spell or pronounce if ya ask me, I'm forever confused about those still acting like its some tongue twister 10 years later, seems like some Munchausen syndrome..

Always kinda grinds my gears when u hear about people getting paid to broadcast these players games who cant even bother to put forth some effort... But I guess this is the precedent ESPN set for years, the ole dumb it down, n we're still trying to recover from it.

Shaq gets away with putting up impossible goal posts for modern bigs to live up to, and moving them at his whim, n all these other atheletes thought they were gonna be afforded the same benefit of the doubt (Nonsense like Kevin Garnett claiming Jrue Holiday is the best player on the Bucks, or Kendrick Perkins MVP conspiracies based purely in fantasy) ..

But thats why youngins like Landry Fields and Mike Dunleavy are calling the shots with NBA teams now, and these old guys are running their mouths infront of cameras.. Lettuce not forget..

It will always bother me that the details of the game aren't discussed more during basketball broadcasts.

Baseball and football are different in that they both have long pauses between the game action, but the difference is night and day. So much nuance gets mentioned in baseball. And with football you often get the full play being diagrammed, the defensive coverages discussed etc.

In basketball the announcers often don't even note when the defense has obviously switched to a zone.

I'll never forget when Mark Cuban went on with Stephen A Smith and Skip Bayless to talk about the Mavs championship. He exposed the fact that so much of basketball commentary is just meaningless garbage about "who wants it more" and other nearly meangingless phrases. Neither of them could answer how the Mavs guarded LeBron in that series. Because most of them don't actually know the game. Not really.

I wish we'd see more serious breakdowns of the game so fans could learn some of those nuances. But at the very least, don't let guys like Zeke (who obviously does zero prep) call the games.
