There's some very tough choices here. I'll start with the hardest: It's a shame @Cojc didn't get to finish because I really like the mix of albums on that list. I like every one of those artists. It could have been an easy pick for a #1 overall ranking from me but it's tough to go with just 18 albums over 25 from @Spike, especially when I have a large chunk of those 25 in my own collection. Both are guitar heavy collections but so different stylistically. Sneaking Elton John, the Stax live album, and Public Enemy in there at the end makes the decision even harder. My favorite album from both lists combined is Blood on the Tracks but I have to give the edge to Spike anyway because I'd be getting Soundgarden, AiC, the best Green Day and Tool albums and the three I already mentioned.

@Turgenev vs. @Padrino is tough because they're so similar. They slant in different directions but both lists are focused on newer artists with eclectic sounds who are pushing their genres into new territory. I have a lot of fond memories associated with Cat Power and Modest Mouse. Death Grips and Shabazz Palaces are awesome. I wasn't familiar with any of Padrino's top 5 albums before this draft but enjoyed listening to all of them for the first time. From Turgenev I really liked that Karriem Riggins album and combining Nick Cave, Tracy Chapman, and James Taylor with De La, Jill Scott, ATCQ, and J Dilla makes me think you might be the coolest underground DJ ever. You need to find yourself a club and start making people happy! I wish I could combine both of these into one super playlist (actually, I guess I probably could if I started using Spotify more) -- but it's very tough to pick one over the other. My taste has changed a lot over the years and right now Turgenev's list gets a slight edge. My favorite album from both lists combined is The Moon & Antarctica.

Both @Mr. S£im Citrus and @Warhawk have album lists that venture into styles of music that I rarely listen to. I can tell that Warhawk and I do have a lot of overlap in our taste but this particular list for whatever reason seems to hit all my blind spots. I never quite got into Elvis, the 80s rock bands were slightly before my time and I didn't have an older brother who listened to rock music to pass them down to me, and I'm slightly embarrassed to admit that I have not listened to any Run DMC albums. I'm aware of Paisley as a guitar player but my knowledge of country music is really limited at this point to more instrumental styles. I respect the female pop singers but the vocal heavy way those albums are produced just never quite agrees with my ears. The funny thing about Slim's list is that we're so close to being musically compatible -- I had a phase where I only listened to early 90s R&B radio -- but we're just off by a couple years. If you had made your focus say 1993 instead of 1991 we would have a lot more albums in common. You do have John Frusciante, Prince, and The Edge on here though so my guitar itch gets scratched. I get down to Jamiroquai from time to time. I don't know how much of an after thought that choice was, but throwing the Pure Funk mix in there won you big points with me. It's been awhile since I listened to any of these artists though. I really like the first track on Diamonds and Pearls but if I were to pick just one album from these two lists it would be I Love Rock n Roll. The overall match-up goes to Slim for me.

For the last match-up,I had @pdxKingsFan's list ranked very highly and like a lot of you I'm not quite sure how to rank @whitechocolate. I feel like I need a lot more time to digest all of the new music you two have introduced me to. The Coathangers is my favorite new discovery of the entire draft. I've already watched several full concerts of theirs on Youtube. From whitechocolate's list Barricade 3 by ZNR is what I connected with the most but I also liked Not Available, Hopes and Fears, Silver Apples of the Moon, Rock Bottom, Laughing Stock, and the Y album. The ambient music is tough to compare to anything else and also deserves more of a focused listening experience than I've been able to give it so far. The two of you picked before and after me in the draft too so I feel invested in seeing both of you do well in the voting. It's tough seeing one of you get eliminated in the first round. I also respect that you both have your own styles and you stuck to them regardless of whether anyone else would know who you're talking about. From pdx I have the Beach Boys, Stones, Sabbath and Weezer albums in my collection and you picked the one Bowie album I would buy. I haven't taken the time to explore The Clash's back catalog yet but one of my favorite albums is the last Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros album which was released posthumously. I can see an argument for picking a list full of music I'm not familiar with as the ideal situation for spending a lot of time on a deserted island. As much as I do enjoy what can be done with musical experimentation and sound manipulation (side note: I don't know if this qualifies as a hot take -- but I prefer Einstürzende Neubauten to Nine Inch Nails) -- ultimately I'm most loyal to the guitar so I have to go with pdxKingsfan here.

I caught Joe Strummer in July of 2002. His death that year was so unexpected to me and had I missed that show I think I would have regretted it forever. What is the rock n roll hall of fame requirement 25 years or something from your first album, so the Clash were shoe ins to go in in the next 2-3 years and hopefully reunite and it never happened. I'd have suffered through a Coachella for that, something I would not do for the Replacements, Misfits, Jawbreaker, you name it. (I came pretty close with GnR in 2016 though)

I reckon that most people who think Nine Inch Nails represent the upper echelon of industrial artists can't name many if any other industrial artists. Not that Nine Inch Nails aren't good.

I really appreciate that you pulled no punches and picked your best 20 without regard for what anyone else was picking. I'd like to believe that despite having some self-imposed restrictions (not picking stuff I picked a dozen years ago) and trying to stick to stuff I felt was accessible that I stayed true to my self, but it gives me no pleasure seeing the results so one sided.

I would like to echo this sentiment; I appreciate having my horizons broadened. That being said, and @whitechocolate, your perspective may be different, but that's exactly why this is going to be my last-ever music draft. 'Cause, like, that thing where your draft board is totally different from everybody else who's participating in the draft... that's only fun the first time. My draft board may not be as avant garde as yours, but it's only slightly closer to the "norm" around here.

I'm probably there with you on the music draft thing. You ranked 5 spots higher than I did! I like the movie drafts a lot better.

I don't see an 8 vote swing in the next couple days. These things don't get that much attention anymore, especially with the interrupted season and nothing going on sports-wise.

Perhaps... But when we did the first of these, what made it tolerable for me was the fact that there were other people participating whose tastes in music were "close enough" to mine to make it interesting. Even with me placing a self-imposed rule on myself to exclusively select funk and R&B albums, there were still three other people who were a threat to take any of my picks, until more than halfway through the draft. And, even then, I was able to save my two favorite albums for my last five picks, both times, because I knew that there was absolutely no danger of them being stolen. When you don't have to worry about either of your two favorite albums getting picked by anybody else, that's a dead giveaway that you're playing the game with the wrong group of people... Hell, I could have gone for my whole "Ultimates" list, this time around, and only missed out on one album!

That's why this might not be the wrong group of people at all, if you look at it from a different perspective. I like these "drafts" for the simple reason they expose me to a lot of musical adventures. For me, it's more of an education than a competition.

I could take or leave the voting part.

But I do think that I definitely struggled before to have fun when it felt like I was playing a different game than everyone else. That said, I had fun and actually I think moreso once I reached the back and challenged myself to only select contemporary albums. Turns out stuff got chopped.

I think, for me, this is primarily an opportunity to list out music I like and that is important to me. In the past I've missed concerts cause it didn't appeal to friends taste. Now, my gf doesn't like most of what I like and mostly doesn't click on links I share. It's human nature to want to be able to share things, but not always possible. Even if I don't have that much of an audience here, at least I get a quick platform.

(On a secondary level, it's an opportunity to learn about music I haven't otherwise considered. But I'm not sure to what extent that's happened, so, personally, it's prob less important.)

On voting. If one has their own taste in music they may not get that many votes, but it's still their taste, so they haven't really lost. I should disclaim that I am yet to make the second round in any kind of draft here - so perhaps jaded - and do recognise that votes is one means, alongside quotes and likes, of engaging with others selections, thus partially avoiding my gf gripe above.

I find myself constantly looking for music I missed out on, even if it's generally staying in my lane. It might be fun to do a decade specific one in the future.

One time I made a playlist for my metal bowling league that was all from one year, that was a challenge but fun as hell. It was 88 or 89 though, and those were great years for metal.

There was this gal here who had a crazy knowledge of Australian punk rock and it blew me away the night I heard her DJ. Even moreso because she was in her 20s when we met and was introducing me to new music and unfortunately she passed from cancer earlier this year

I'm happy to see you drafted the recent Tribe album. I am always surprised how good it is all the way through each time I listen to it.

I had @Turgenev #1 in my rankings, too, and expected him to be ranked much higher. I thought it was an interesting twist of fate that he and I were paired up for the first round. It's likely the only way either of us would advance to the second.

But like many others, I could take or leave the voting in these drafts. It's kind of fun, but I participate to discover new music and to offer others opportunities to discover, as well.
