Voisin: Kings are a mess but there's still time to fix it

Can it be fixed though? Not this year.

Without a miracle, we'll be in purgatory and likely lose our draft pick in the process.

Can we fix the broken relationship between management and fans?

We'll see. Karl would go a long way towards mending the relationship. Had PDA gone with Karl, as the other owners suggested, there probably wouldn't be so much vitriol.

Can you Refresh my memory on the lottery restriction(s) please?

I guess. But to me its just too little too late. What this FO has done, for me, is just unforgivable. I have zero confidence they will hire Karl at any point. Not to mention Once Blatt gets canned he will most likely end up in CLE

irreversible
damage is done

I'm not at that point. Yes, some really crap stuff has gone on but it's not unforgivable and it's not irreversible...yet. I want to see what PDA has to say tomorrow although I'm not at all confident it will ease all our angst and fears. I also want to see what happens in the days to come.

I have 30 years invested in this team. My mom was a fan until her death. My daughter and son-in-law are fans. My grand-daughters are fans. The passion does indeed run deep in our family. I am not about to throw it all away because our new GM is an idiot.

Vivek may be a lot of things but he is not a fool and he is more social media savvy than just about any owner not named Mark Cuban. I'm fairly sure he's totally involved in figuring out a way to fix this. He has millions and millions and millions of dollars invested in the Kings, the new arena and the surrounding development, as do his partners. He did not get to be where he is by piling bad decision upon bad decision.

I know his Twitter account has blown up with messages from Kings fans who are not satisfied with what's happened. Every media outlet in the basketball world has people trying to contact him. He took some time off to spend with his family over the holidays but I'm guessing he's going to be back at work Monday - just in time to tune in and listen to PDA try and get himself out of the mess he created.

Right now, there are a million theories about what's going to happen next but none of us know for sure. Tomorrow could be the first day in a total revision of NBA 3.0. I can wait that long.

i wasn't saying im going to throw in the towel on being a fan, just saying irreversible damage on this season is done. There is really no way to make this season as successful as it would have been had the FO not pulled the plug on Malone

Hey, we could get George Karl in here! Wow! Let's fire Malone and then spend a few weeks during the season looking into whether we might want Karl.
-No One Ever

I think you're on to something.

It's not about wins and losses. It's about changing the style of play.
-No One Ever

Best start in 15 years but this team needs a new identity.
-No One Ever

This is our best chance to make the playoffs in a decade. Lets rebuild instead.
-No One Ever

It's not necessary to play to the strengths of your two best players.
-No One Ever

Championship teams run fast and jump high. Defense is unnecessary.
-No One Ever

Oh wait...it's not No One Ever. It's our very own gm PDA. A millionaire who makes his living by doing the opposite of what his job requires. A guy who is worse at his job than literally every single person who frequents this board.

Well said.

Agree. i really don't see the FO doing anything that can salvage this season to the point where we would have been had Malone not been fired. Probably would have won 40-45 games and built even more great chemistry. Even hiring Karl or some other proven coach isn't going to put us at 40 wins and we are starting all over again on chemistry.

irreversible damage is done

Yup. Even if we ended up missing the playoffs by a few games, it sets us up for the future. Every team has to go through their heartbreak of missing the playoffs by a game or two, 1st round out, heartbreak 2nd round game 7 loss before they know how to win and be true contenders. But the FO set us back by 1 full year, at the very least.

One year set back is assuming the next coach can come in and fix this mess and get everyone's mind right again. That is not a guarantee and if Vivek choose a dud as coach, we may not get it back for a longgg time.
