Everyone can vote for these playoff match-ups (even if you didn't participate in the draft). Don't be shy!

Feel free to back-up your rationale here.

I'm assuming you can vote for yourself just so you can vote for the other matchup in the thread, right?
I believe the restriction was just for the rankings because you'd obviously vote for yourself. I'm pretty sure you're allowed to vote for yourself here.

I didn't have to agonize too much for either one of these. I like William Blake's list in general (Dr. Strangelove and Back to the Future being obvious candidates for my own list), though I do have to be sad about losing one of my favorite movie scenes of all time in True Romance (the Walken/Hopper confrontation).

For uolj, I think I find Last Crusade somehow MORE rewatchable than Raiders, and The Hunt for Red October was a sneaky good pick on a movie I had kind of forgotten. 50 First Dates was actually a fun flick (though I'd have gone with The Wedding Singer, personally) - somehow I like neither Sandler nor Barrymore but their chemistry together works for me. On the PDX side, Meaning of Life or no, there's just far too much undead going on here for me. If you tried to salvage it with Star Wars, I might have had to think twice, but Empire is not going to cut it (and I know I'm in the minority on this one, but I simply can't understand why.)

I made a mistake when I voted on this one because I didn't realize the seedings had changed but I'm just going to roll with it. WB was my #1 of the not-me's and G3 was not far behind. And I voted for me obviously.

I didn't try to salvage anything here, just voted for movies I like and watch regularly and if nobody but me and two others like them that's cool.

Empire Strikes Back is one of the best Sci Fi movies of all time, and certainly the best one out of the whole Star Wars trilogy (yes, I said it.) As much as I wanted to not vote for Notting Hill, however, I liked the overall top 5 of uolj's list a little better. I think this was the toughest pick for me so far.

S'pose if I'm going to go out in the first round, might as well be to the list I ranked at #1.

Consolation enough to at least pretend I'm not bitter about it.

Yeah I was happy thinking that was going to be my honor until I realized I was bumped down even lower in the seeding with an additional last place vote and we flipped. Yay!

The only thing that frustrates me about this part of the game is that I think I could make a popular list of movies that I do truly enjoy but it would be completely unfun for me to do so.

Here I'm the lone voter for the pdxkingsfan-myself combo. Hate to see Lock & Stock and The Godfather go so early but pdx's top 5 picks + No Country For Old Men (you should really watch Dead Man's Shoes if you haven't already) were too good not to be voted.

I'm not happy to see your list go early either since it was in my top 5.

Its safe to say that you'll have my vote the rest of the way, I didn't realize that we weren't head to head as originally announced until after I voted. For whatever reason lists I liked all tended to go up against each other. Hopefully that won't continue in round 2.

By the way... I'm guessing any changes to the original rankings were my fault. I sent in rankings that looked like a poster's name and a rank number. Turns out the number was irrelevant (I used it for myself to keep the lists anonymous) and the ranking was in order. I didn't realize my mistake until after the initial tabulation but before the voting threads, so I'm guessing why there's a difference there. Sorry!

Well then I know you were one of the ones who voted to put me in last place. Now I can be bitter.
:)

Still can't figure out who gave me their first place vote but by process of elimination I think I know unless it is someone completely out of left field.
