Time again for another edition of VF21's Favorite Sites.

This time I've got a pretty eclectic mix. With the All-Star weekend nearly upon us, I figure we may need something to distract us. As always, enjoy!

1. The first one is a take-off on Mr. Potatohead you'll have to see to believe. Where else but on the Internet could you find a way to create your own abstract self-portrait that will most likely look like something your 4-year-old could have made? It's different, to say the least. www.mrpicassohead.com

2. This next site is one of the best of its kind I've ever found. I like to crochet, especially when there's a storm outside and I'm without power, and got in over my head on a couple of patterns that wanted me to do stitches I didn't understand. This site was recommended by a lady at a sewing store that went out of business a couple of years ago. It has information on crocheting, cross stitch, embroidery, knitting and a lot more. It's called Stitch Guide, but it's a lot more. There are featured articles, free patterns, tips and techniques and much more. www.anniesattic.com

3. I love airplanes. Old, new, jet, prop, I don't care. I'm fascinated by them. I've spent hours perusing this site and never fail to find something new to interest me. The section titled "airmen" is really interesting as is the photo gallery. If you're at all interested in aviation, you have to check out this site. www.aviation-history.com

4. This next site is great for anyone who's interested in marine life. There's a lot here to keep young and old alike fascinated. I love the wealth of photographs. http://marinebio.org/

5. I may have actually posted this one before but it bears repeating. If you ever traveled with your family and begged your parents to take that turnoff to go see the "World's Largest Ball of Twine" or some of the other great attractions along the highway, you'll love this site. They call themselves "Your Online Guide to Offbeat Tourist Attractions". Who can resist "Towering Cow" or "Lamb with Two Butts"? www.roadsideamerica.com

6. My daughter used to love cryptograms but the books were a little too difficult for her. I sure wish a site like this had been around back then. This site has over 30,000 crossword puzzles but it also has an intriguing little section called Crytogram Tools. There you can simply type in a phrase and it will encrypt it for you. Then print it out. If you have children, it's a great way to help them learn letters, word construction, etc. I strongly recommend this site. www.crosswordpuzzlegames.com

7. Okay, I'll admit it. I found this one while googling "Bricklayer" for some fiendish purpose I've since forgotten. This is arguably one of the most creative and strange sites I've ever seen. It takes Lego building to a whole new level as stories from the old and new testament of the bible are re-enacted almost entirely out of Legos. www.thebricktestament.com/

8. Va-room! That's the sound of a motorcyle. If you want to see an excellent collection of vintage motorcycles, you'll like this site. www.motorcycle.com/mo/mcmuseum

9. This next site is really intriguing. If you're looking for something to read, something to listen to, or a movie to see, this site will give you an idea of what you may be missing. Want an author? Enter the names of three authors you like and the site will give you an author it thinks you will like based on those you've entered. Same goes for movies and music. www.gnod.net

10. Google fight! Who would win? Tea or coffee? Kings or Lakers? This is fun!!! By the way? Kings win! 96,200,000 to 20,100,000. Who says we can't play defense? www.googlefight.com

wow! i like the crossword one. my grandmother was a crossword fanatic and got some of us kids hooked. Thanks VF!

Some great sites VF. Thanks!:)

The Brick Testament site is absolutley hilarious. I also clicked on the Reverend Brendan Powell Smith link there to find out about the creator and found other stuff that had me falling off my chair. :D

When I checked the Kings vs. Lakers google fight, it was Kings 115,000,000 to 20,600,000! That's not just a blowout, that's a slaughter! :D
