I've made pledges before. I think it's time I made a new one...

I, VF21, pledge to root loud and long for the Kings, even if they're down by double digits three minutes into the game, provided the Kings do NOT get Ron Artest.

I, VF21, pledge to buy more Kings gear and paraphenalia, including at least something gold, provided the Kings do NOT get Ron Artest.

I, VF21, pledge to laugh at all of Grant Napear's jokes and not refer to him any longer as Howdy Doody, provided the Kings do NOT get Ron Artest.

I, VF21, pledge to visit the kings.com website regularly and not make fun of the content, provided the Kings do NOT get Ron Artest.

I, VF21, pledge to quit referring to the dance team in derogatory terms, provided the Kings do NOT get Ron Artest.

I, VF21, pledge to be kind to dumb animals and even to tourists, provided the Kings do NOT get Ron Artest.

But seriously - there is a very real possibility that the Kings will get Artest, and if this is the case, I will give the man a chance, as we all should, because otherwise we are just dooming him to the fate we all predict. We should all keep in mind that the BEST case scenario DOES involve getting Artest, assuming he can keep his head on (which is a HUUUUUGE assumption). I am going to wait and see what happens before making any pledges...
 
Looking on the bright side..he can always fall back on his "musical career" and perform at the halftime show at Arco during those periods that he is suspended.;) :eek: :D

Can we assume that you will ultimately root for the name on the front of the jersey instead of the name on the back, and that if Ron does become a King he will be afforded the same protection against abuse that you have offered JWill, CWebb, and Peja?

Are you going to forbid people from saying nasty things about Artest if he DOES become a King? Or are all bets off for him?

Does he get the same chance to rehabilitate that Webber and Bonzi got?

I am the biggest CWebb fan in the world, but there was a lot to "look the other way" about with him (drug suspension, 4th quarter ATM trip, etc.). So how much of a break will Ron Artest get? Does he get one drug suspension, one grand jury indictment, and one magazine article bagging on Sacramento's lack of culture?

Everybody sing: All we are saying..... is give Ron a chance...
 
here is the trick: vf21 promises to do this or that if the kings do not get artest. but she does not promise to do the exact opposite if the deal goes through. in one case, it is certain; in the other, not really.

Then when people tell him the truth that he is god awful he can go and punch a fan, he's not a tru warier he's a fan puncher-er.
 
Oh, good lord. I try and post something to lighten the mood a little and I get harassment?

No, Francisco I am not going to root for the name on the front. Because of one nutcase I'm going to turn my back on a 20+ year love of the Kings. And, in addition, I'm going to do a 180 on how I moderate and allow people to break every single rule of this forum.

In additiion, I'm going to become a certified player hater and delete any thread that dares to say anything good about Ron Artest, should he end up wearing the uniform of the Kings.

While I'm at it, I may just ban anyone with the letters "R-O-N" (in any combination) in their user name.

Hmmm.

F-R-A-N-C-I-S-C-O...

Uh oh.

And, while I'm on a roll, I'm going to remove any avatar with the number 15 or a picture of Ron Artest.

Then, of course, I shall have to go back into all the old threads and remove anything that says anything good about him.

Yes, I posted a poll that had actually been started by someone else. He had wanted to make it public but didn't and I couldn't edit it so I reposted it...

And yes I voted to make the trade BEFORE all this came down and I remembered why I had been so against Ron Artest to begin with.

After everything that's gone on I hereby officially rescind my vote. The LAST thing the Kings need is this type of problem. Ron Artest makes Terrell Owens look normal and that's saying something...

That better?

I know I did. I've always been a little leary of Artest, but I got to the point where I thought, well, can it really get any worse? Why not give it a try? when the trade was first announced I was still a little leary, but cautiously optimistic, and somewhat excited about the defense Artest can bring to the team. But, with the latest development, it made me realize just what we'd be getting ourselves into. How can we expect Artest to behave decently for 2 1/2 years if he's already creating problems? Given his history, I just think the gamble is too great.

VF I agree with you. I am leary of Artest but lets not forget the pasts of Weber, Jwilliams and Bonzi. Questionable pasts but faired pretty well.

Fair enough. At least you admit you wanted him here. Some people that were so excited about him coming are now ready to stone him and pretend they never wanted him here.
 
Expect the worst out of this trade. If it goes badly, then you can say "I told you so". If it goes well, then we have a good team and everyone wins.

Give the guy a chance, at least he's entertaining!
 
Regardless either way the trade works out, apparently we're all going to have every word we say on here scrutinized and put on trial.
