From what I read, Matt had interest from the Clippers, Kings, Mavericks and Warriors. I don't know how the offers compared, but it's nice to see the Kings land a FA coveted by several playoff teams.

Not true at all.
If Cousins isn't the only one out there caring about cheap fouls, etc. then he just might not be pushed over the edge quite so easily.

That is only partially true. Cousins tends to let things build up over time, and then blows up. A player like Barnes sees what is happening and comes with a hard foul (or gets in their face) and lets the air out of Cousins balloon before it pops. He used to do this for Blake Griffin all the time when he was with the Clippers.

on hoopshype says 2 yrs for 12 mil so looks like 6 mil last of the cap that's why we had to recind Seths qual offer
not because vlade was "helping out seth" 12.5 mil Affalo,8 mil Tolliver, 6 mil for Temple and Matt
that's 32.5 will we be able to sign all 4 rookies?

yeah trading Rudy leaves a big hole at starting small forward. I'd like to see him one year under Joerger. If we could trade Ben and KK for a quality PG, that would be perfect.

Matt is a good addition. Tough and doesn't take crap from anyone. Plus Cousins wanted him on the team. It's obvious to me that Vlade is trying to change the culture of the team, and prepare for free agency a year from now when it's a much better market. The Kings could end up having more money to spend next year than any team in the NBA. I said could. He'll have Bogdanovic coming over next year. He's planted the seeds of youth with Labissiere, Papagiannis, Richardson, and I. Cousins. And, he's brought in tough veteran players to mentor them.
It appears to me that Vlade and the Kings have moved from win now, to lets get better while laying a foundation for the future. That may not please all the fans, but it's the smart way to go. He didn't get a case of stupid and blow a lot of money on some aging star with bad knees. I like what he's done so far, and I like that all of his decisions have been a surprise. I think he's driving the national pundits nuts. Well done there.

Yeah I really don't know wtf is going on in the front office. If they end up giving up Gay for Stuckey, I'm done.

Very true. If we end up moving Koufos for an expiring, we could have around $66mil in cap space next year (if we waive Afflalo & Tolliver, Gay doesn't pick up his option, & we don't extend a qualifying offer to McLemore) with the below players under contract.

SG - Richardson
SF - Barnes
PF - Cauley-Stein/Labissiere
C - Cousins/Papagiannis
I see what Vlade is doing and I accept it.
- He believes we had enough talent last year to compete, but Karl was holding the team back.
- He understands that Sacramento is not a very attractive destination at the moment and wanted to bet on improving the reputation this year to hopefully have a more successful offseason next year.
- He also maintained flexibility for next offseason which has a stronger FA class.

Mmmm..... Not quite. But I'm definitely pleasantly intrigued by this scrappy direction we seem to be headed.
Doubt this roster is going to put up points, but I don't think we're going to get trounced on defense anymore either.
I'd rather see us play tough and lose 90 to 85, than what we had last year. .... dropping 100+ and still getting blown out. ... feh!
I'm gonna wait to see what we get for Rudy (trade seems pretty inevitable) before I break out the optimism!

Like him or not Rudy is going to opt out. So if you think long term, be prepared to pay a massive amount next season, or maybe even that he will walk away regardless. I'd like to keep him myself, but as an expiring, explore all options.

1.What does the "Uww" in the title mean? Is it the same as "eww," as in yuck?
2.Is this a a poorly worded "Welcome Matt Barns" thread?
If these are true can we please either rename the title fitting for welcoming a hometown kid to the team or start a new one without the implying negativity?

Let me put it this way.
I love Barnes as a player, but at some point in the hopefully distant future even Barnes will realize, that he is 36 years old and isn't playing for a championship anymore.
I like Temple, but while he is a great insurance guy on the roster, he isn't a signing, that moves the needle very much.
Still no fan at all of the Afflalo and Tolliver signings.
Still worried, that we tried to fill our wing and guard positions with bottom of the barrel type of guys, but I remember how Joerger got similar talent to mesh in Memphis.
Still believe we are short on defenders, especially when Gay plays a huge role for the Kings once again.
Still hope we somehow aquire Harkless.
Realized, that Hill's contract is actually 4 years 48m not 4 years for 52m.
So let's be honest and try to take off the Kings coloured glasses. Take a look at the West and name a team, which has less talent/upside at the guard and wing positions than the Kings.
I did that yesterday and for me this was a really tough task. Honestly I think the Mavs might be worse.
Of course we still have Cousins, so that must be worth something right?

Sometimes the parts are greater than the whole (i.e. the Kings under Karl last year) and sometimes the whole is greater than the parts. Hopefully it will be the latter.

Cousins gets hacked woefully all the time. Barnes has more of a role here then just spot mins and jacking up 3s. He's made a career off grinding and having the back of his team mates
Nope. Not gonna do it. I've grown very fond of my Kings-colored glasses over the years. I welcome any and all other Kings fans who also want to don a pair, if only for a short time. It doesn't hurt.
