Tyreke's summer plans

He needs to completely revamp his mechanics if he ever wants to become a good jump shooter.
Pretty much what Tony Parker did to become a dangerous player and it opened up the lanes for him -- he has a NBA finals MVP to show for it. Evans has a lot of work to do with his jumper but it is doable.

Found this little note on Keith Veney:

So at least he has some relevant experience I suppose, even if many of the best coaches don't.

I remember Keith Veney because he played his first professional season in France and Euroleague in 1997-1998.
Shooting guard in a point guard body, a little bit overweighted and not a very good player (he was cut before the end of the season).
But the one thing you could not underestimate was his shooting skill.
Eddie House kind of player, he was the crazy pistolero stereotype : never met a shoot he didn't like and making baskets from all over the court, whatever the distance was.
I remember him making several three pointers from around 8 meters (26-27 feet) long.

I don't know if he is a good personnal coach, but I guess he can give some shooting advices to Tyreke :-)

Does it matter who he works with?!

He knows what he needs to work on and his team is recruiting well credentialed professionals to help him improve on his weaknesses.

Its actually refreshing to see that they have already planned what is on agenda this summer and made the necessary moves to make it happen.

If he can improve his jumper over the next 2-3 years (it will take time) he will be unstoppable. We saw against Minny a glipse of what Tyreke with a jumpshot can do to the opposition.

i think casspi should work with him and get his rebounds:)
just kidding
casspi is playing for israel team in the summer

I think it DOES matter who he works with. They need to be effective in improving his shot and conditioning. It looks like he has taken it upon himself to seek professional help and lining up his trainers for the offseason. That is unusual because normally the players would just follow a conditioning plan set by the strength and conditioning coach (well, some follow it, some like Hawes see it as a suggestion...). I am glad he is taking the initiative and setting goals for himself to improve as a player. I wish more players were this dedicated to improving their game and conditioning!!

I'm sure he could have gotten a loan or credit once he was drafted.

Evans J is in much worse shape than any of those players. Their form was at least decent. Which means its a lot more work for evans to get it to their level.

Allright broseph, you are getting kind of ridiculous. What exactly would make you happy? Evans gone? Rubio in? What exactly are you driving at, being one of only 2 posters left on this board who don't like Evans?

What part of my post do you feel was not true?

I wasn't looking at true or not true, however it's not his form so much as it is his balance when jumping. He's just off balance, which is why he was making shots the other day. He was jumping so high that he got off balance, he was shooting more of a set shot.

What is really getting annoying is you are becoming just like Sactownfan is with Hawes, just obviously not to the same degree because you couldn't do that with Evans and not get banned in a heartbeat, and probably booted out of section 101. You are just driving at something, anything to pick on the kid's game. You cannot look at the bright side of anything concerning Evans. You only look at the darkside. You don't see both sides of the coin, you flip that coin and it comes heads up (Rubio's head on it) every time. You don't give him credit for anything, you try to take credit from him. And it is embarrassing to see it, the pettyness, in a grown man. It's sad, that you can't get over it and see how the team is going in a positive direction, all you can do is wait and hope for Evans to fail so you can come on here and say 'I told you so'. A grown *** man too. Whats wrong broseph? Can I swing you a beer to get you to accept it? Lets go to Hooters, I'll get you a wing, a breast and a frosty brew.:D:D

Maybe you know this person, but I wouldn't be so certain he's a grown man. Kids and teens can be basketball fans too.

So if you believe what I said is true do you think it will just get better by not pointing it out or talking about it?

What part about me saying I'm glad he got a real shooting coach is looking at the darkside?

And you are just as bad. In many of your posts, you come off as pointing fingers, defensive, and basically running around with your chest puffed out asking posters in an NJ accent if they wanna piece of you (obviously this is taking place in my head, personifying the internet).

Critical posts are critical posts. You choose to focus on all that's well and good. Congrats. Some like to post what they see as areas for improvement. You need both. You need one to keep you going and you need the other to keep you grounded. Why you choose to be so confrontational is a mystery. Refute the critiques on basis of evidence to the contrary, not to the poster, using ad hominem attacks (which you just about do every time). You are not a mod, you cannot run the board how you see fit.

If this is the same section101 that used to post on the old Graffiti Board with me and some others about a dozen years ago, then he is not a kid. He used to be quite objective and a good observer. Not sure what happened to him on the Tyreke. After all the bad players and unfulfilled promise that has come through Arco, he picks this one to be negative on?

I look like Terence Howard, but taller. Born and raised in Citrus heights. And I'm not afraid of confrontation so if it comes off to you that way then fine. I know how to confront someone without fighting them. Thats my nature. But seriously if you are gonna dogg one of my 'boys' then you better expect it.

I can't help it if I disagree with your post and tell you exactly how you look to me. I'm thick skinned, I don't care what someone says to me or about me. I'm way to overconfident to let that crap bother me. And I'm not all Mr. Roses and Song. I hated Sergio and let it be known. When Beno played like crap I was there to voice my displeasure. I just take umbrage with people trying to find an issue with Evans when the real issue is with themself. Thats all.

Section 101 was probably the smartest poster when it came to the whole new arena issue. I developed a very healthy respect for him over that issue. I like to think it was likewise. Which is why I dogg him so hard, he used to be like positive John over on the grafiti board.

1. What does what you look like have anything to do with this?

2. Why does where you come from matter to any of us?

3. No one said you're afraid. Once again, there you go with the defensiveness.

4. You can disagree, but you usually lack merits in your rebuttals. You just puff hard, with no reasoning behind it. It sounds like you know this and are proud of it. Congrats, now no one has any reason to take you seriously.

5. So you "hate" a player, and let it be known, but when others voice displeasure at someone who you like, then that's not ok? Your issues with Sergio and Beno are issues with yourself. I take umbrage. Much umbrage. Every player has faults. If you can point out other players, especially spouting "hate" with zero merit, then they can point out flaws with one of "your boy."

6. I'm sure Beno is someone's "boy" just as much as Tyreke is yours. They have just as much merit to speak their minds as you do. After the post you just gave, probably more.

1 & 2. I was pointing out to you that I was not some NJ punk.

3. Not being defensive, pointing out my nature.

4. I can rebut anything you say. With merit. Try me.

5. I will point out any issue with any 'veteran', but when it comes to rookies and players in their 2nd year it is pretty ridiculous.

6. I hope someone will defend Beno, and I'd give them props for that. But it won't make me like that player, I'd just respect the poster more for having the balls to stand up to me. Just like I respect you for standing up and trying to act tough. Especially when you are trying to call me out. I love it.

Okay, if the pissing contest is over, can we get back to the topic at hand? Keep in mind:

1. This isn't the old graffiti board.
2. If you want to hurl insults at someone, do it via PMs.
3. Play nice or don't play at all.

thanks...

I understand you more. You call out posters on purpose in hopes of them coming back at you. It's a literary war that you instigate because this is your entertainment. Sort of a war of words. You seek out those who have been vocal of viewpoints not your own. You like to be more confrontational and push some buttons. I understand, and it seems like you are aware of what you are doing as well, so that's that.

I'm not trying to act tough. I just get tired when I come into the top few threads and it's always you in there stirring up sh*t for the sake of stirring it up. But you aren't doing it because that's how you do it; you do it for sport. Not sure which is better on a hierarchy of etiquette, but I get what you're doin.

Hello? In the future, posts that don't pertain to the topic at hand as indicated in the thread title may be deleted. You guys really need to take this stuff to PMs...or outside at recess, you know?

Seems like some get free passes for pointed attacks as long as it's directed at a certain few, while other insults are slammed down with great force. Just wondering how this type of forum stalking is being allowed to go on unchecked.

But I digress...

"There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we now know we don’t know. But there are also unknown unknowns. These are things we do not know we don’t know." -Rumsfeld

While this could sure go head to head w/any of Bush Jr's colloquialisms, in b-school you are taught this exact thing. In terms of a pro baller's progression, one of the largest issues to tackle is to increase one's known unknown. He needs to be aware of his problems, and it looks like he is. Once he corrects them, the sky is the limit.

Another quote:

"When you're screwing up and nobody says anything to you anymore, that means they've given up on you." - Randy Pausch

THAT is why everyone is so hard on Tyreke; because of the immense potential that is there.

Hi.

My post was written, but not submitted, before you entered yours. Lapse in timing is all. A new post was added to be on topic and address your previous post. Again, it was after this one. Seems I am a slow typer :(

I address the things I see or are pointed out to me. What I saw here was a couple of posters egging you and a couple of others into a discussion that clearly wasn't about the topic at hand. I was actually coming to your defense, as I wasn't including you among the guilty. The guilty are Section 101 and Kingsguy881, who continually delight in making the discussion adversarial in nature. It gets old and even moderators get tired of having to deal with it all the time.

EDIT: And my comment was originally posted before I saw yours above. we're cool. ;)

Back to the topic at hand, as long as Reke doesn't follow the Brad Miller school of summer workouts, I'm moderately happy.

Yeah that's him with Pau-Orthez (the same team where Mike Pietrus and Boris Diaw used to play a couple of years later).

And I confirm that shot selection was NOT his best asset :D
