Tyreke, Jimmer, Thornton, and Cousins

I take it you never saw Allen Iverson play, as he is the most selfish player I have ever seen. I could give you a list of many other selfish players, but don't have the time to waste. I simply put it this way: You have seen a very small selection of game of MT with with to judge him (in a system that stressed one-on-one play). He was a much more williing passer last season, even liked the fact that the whole team seemed willing to make the extra pass (a lot has changed in an off season). I think you will start to see more of what we saw out of him last season with Smart taking over the team. You just have to give them and the coach a little time to make some changes.

Not even close. Allen Iverson would pass to guys when they were open most of the time and not blatantly ignore them. And i'm not an Iverson fan, I think he was incredibly overrated. But he wasn't that selfish. Yeah he shot a lot but that was cause they literally had no one else. But you don't average 6-7 apg by never passing, thats for sure.

Iverson averaged 6.2 assists per game for his career. Not Steve Nash numbers, but I'll take that kind of selfish as far as distributing goes. Iverson's problem was that he was a volume shooter who didn't particularly shoot well (career .518 TS%, compared to league averages in about the .540s, depending on the year). But he still managed to pass the ball pretty well.

Iverson had 134 double doubles in his career. I'd guess 130 of those were 10+ ast nights.

Thornton has never recorded 10+ asts in a game.

I base my opinion on watching him play, not his assist totals. He NEVER looked to pass the ball until he had no other option (except in transistion). However, he was the guy to had the ball in his hand 90% of the time which meant he was the player most likely to end up with assists on his team. latrell Sprewell was similiar in how he got assists, it was almost always in a bailout situation. And when the other team knowns that you are going to shoot the ball more likely than not, it means the rest of the team is open most of the time. If Iverson had looked to pass the ball more in his career (he WAS a good passer), he could have easily averaged 10+ assists most of his career IMO.

I never said that AI never passed, I said he was selfish. He was actaully a very good passer, he just rarely looked to pass the ball until he had no other options. It got to the point where a lot of his teammate came down the floor and just tried to stay out of his way (hoping they might get an outlet pass in the process). Too me, being selfish is about not looking to pass the ball, and don't think AI ever came down the floor thinking about passing the ball (except in transition). There is no doubt he was talented, and unguardable when his outiside shot was falling, but teams also knew that you didn't have to guard the rest of the team most nights.

I don't think Jimmer will ever be a "star", but I'd love if he can be a 6th or 7th man that helps strech the defense. That would be plenty and really all we'd need from him.

What we really need is a 3 and for Whiteside to become the defensive stalwart we all hope he will be.
