Tyreke Evans in All-Star Game? (Chris Paul Out 1-2 months + Roy Hurt?)

I'm guessing Kobe will make it a gametimr decision so there will be no chance of a replacement.

Sure I would love to see Tyreke in the allstar game but is it really an honor if he only makes it due to injuries.
I guess we could ask Kaman and Billups. Since reserve All-Stars are picked by coaches, I'd have to think they just move down to whoever the coaches voted for next at the specified position.

Works both ways -- I remember when Webb was with us he only made the All Star game I think 3 times. Not because he wasn't deserving every year, but because he was always getting hurt around that time. Ditto for KJ.

I can't believe Kidd was picked as Kobes replacement. I can't objectively say Tyreke is more deserving than any other guard already named to the west's allstar roster. Nash, Kobe, Roy, CP3, D Will, and Billups all deserve the nod, although that might change in the year or two. I could understand Monta being named as a replacement for Kobe, but he's hurt to.

There are two pg's I would have put in ahead of Kidd, Brooks and Tyreke. Either one of them. And I'm being as objective as possible. Brooks, Tyreke, and Monta should all have been asked before Kidd.

I'm actually pissed about this. In the news release it cited "traveling concerns" as a reason for picking Kidd, and the fact it would be tough for others to make it to Dallas. But Tyreke is already there. And Brooks would have to book that extremely inconvenient flight from Houston to Dallas. Give me a f'ing break Stern.

Kidd is replacing Kobe in the all-star game...

What a joke of a game. This All Star game is looking pretty pathetic. They might as well name Magic, MJ, Bird and Dominque in there too. I bet most NBA fans would probably vote them in anyway.

It just goes to show the fans aren't the only ones who care only about what you did 10 years ago.

Considering Evans' wrist is still sore and he's dead tired, I'm kind of glad he won't be playing in that game. I suspect he will have plenty of opportunities ahead to be an all-star and not just a last second sub.

Ellis is hurt, so he wouldn't be a replacement. Jason Kidd replacing Kobe is a JOKE. The only reason I could see Reke not replacing Kobe (imagine how awesome would've that been) is because he's in the Fresh/Soph game and the shooting challenge.

But seriously, I really hate the NBA. He's a rookie averaging 20/5/5 and we're halfway done with the season.

Age has nothing to do with it, it just looks good on TV with guys like Kidd and Nash setting everyone up. Stern is all about the game as product.

Meh, who cares that Kidd is making the allstar team over Reke.
Now Reke still has to work his *** off to achieve All Star status in the next cuple years, which is a good thing. He will want to improve his game even more now. Id rather him working for it then it just being handed to him.

Hell why not bring back Stockton then? Better yet, add Malone too. Then we'll really look good. Credibility and talent be dammed!

Hopefully, one day the favor will be returned, and Tyreke will be undeservedly named to his 18th consecutive All-Star Game over some young phenom on pure name recognition. :p

If you have hate in your heart......

Jason broken Kidd? Are you serious? You think watching old @$$ Jason Kidd will be enjoyable? Thats like saying the stuff released 10 years after Tupac died was better than Eminem.

On that off-topic, I saw recently that Tupac's posthumous album total is about to surpass his "prehumous" total. :p
And all of those tracks were not originally released for a reason : they SUCKED. Like Jason Kidd. He is an adequate guard currently, but why not introduce the future of the pg position to the world? Rose vs. Evans would have been TIGHT. But now we get to see a broken shell of his former self get ran around on defense. Fun. They just lost a viewer.

My favorite part of the article:

"You see, there's this kid out in Sacramento that I don't think you've seen play yet ... "

Although as a Rookie, I think it would be unheard of to have Evans as an All-Star.

As for picking Kidd, whatever. I can see because it's in Dallas and they're trying to sell out a football stadium for a basketball game. They've got a ton of tickets to sell.

And it's the All-Star game. Nobody really cares anyway. It's become a joke when Iverson and McGrady get selected by the fans.

Obviously to sell tickets in Dallas, but you have to be freaking Kidding me. I think Reke should have gotten it, but I would have felt better if it had been Monta, Brooks or even Baron freaking Davis.
