He is one of 10 players to be doing so. $19k is not a small chunk of change for a rookie. Kind of a cool thing to read about when all we've been getting lately is losing.

Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol was one of 10 NBA players donating $1,000 for every point he scored Friday night to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund.

The players taking part, all clients of the Wasserman Media Group, included Rookie of the Year Derrick Rose(notes), Atlanta All-Star Joe Johnson(notes), rookie Tyreke Evans(notes) of Sacramento and Washington veteran Antawn Jamison(notes).

I don't know how many people really know what $19k means in Haiti, but its a lot in the right hands. I hope it gets there.

I hope it also gets into those hands. I heard something about corrupt government officials hindering the relief effort, trying to get their hands on funds and hoarding it for themselves.

But hawes has the same agency as evans and were all part of the same deal.

Correct, but the others are donating some fixed amount I believe. Still deserve recognition even if they aren't part of the publicity stunt.

Also, wouldn't make a ton of sense for guys like May who don't have a chance of scoring to do the same thing. Either way I'm proud of these guys.
