Tyreke and LeBron

Um, no?

I'd actually like to see him step on the court and play with my own eyes before I start comparing him to ANYONE, let alone Lebron James...

yeah Tyreke is sorta a mini Lebron...

minus the obvious... the Lebron is a "high flyer" and their is only one Lebron... but yeah Tyreke is more grounded in comparison.

But... I do very much agree that they play very similar styles.

They're both unorthodox PG's that are big for their position.
They both use their ability to drive to pass to teammates "Drive and Kick"
They both are so under control when they drive, even when defended by 2 or more.
They both beat their man off the dribble and make it look easy.

Does anyone besides me see a similarity between the games of Tyreke and LeBron?
Funny you should mention this.
I have been sitting around all day saying just this same thing to myself.
Here are the similarities that I see right off the bat.
1: They both have the same color of hair
2: they both have the letter "E" featured in their names
I'm sure there are more,. It's just uncanny!:p

To be fair to the OP, there are some similarities. However, and obviously, Evans is a significant downgrade from James in each of the aspects of their games.

They both shoot similar, and neither are/were great shooters coming into the league. They are both big and versatile for their positions, and had NBA ready bodies coming into the league. They are both excellent at getting to the rim and finishing, and also both have good/great passing ability.

Of course, it goes without saying that what seperates Lebron is added size, athleticism, vision etc.

Evans could be seen as a poor mans Lebron.

It is possible to play like Lebron without being Lebron...

obviously there is only one Lebron James but both Lebron and Tyreke have a lot in common.

No Tyreke will never be the high flyer James is
No Tyreke would be as big

but they do play a lot alike in general, they really do.

Tony Massenburg thinks Tyreke will be a beast.

He's not Lebron.
He's Tyreke.

I will love it when he proves everyone wrong.

He will.
He will also be Rookie of the Year.
He will also be an All-Star.
He will also lead us to an NBA championship down the road.

I believe in Tyreke.

I disagree... Evans could be sorta the Lebron of the PG's... Tyreke is gonna be a nightmare for other PG's to defend.

I think theres only one aspect of their games that Tyreke is an obvious downgrade and thats explosive jumping... Tyreke is more grounded in comparison

Are you serious? I like the optimism, but Evans is not going to the LeBron of PGs. That's ludicrous. You're basically saying that Evans will be undisputedly the best PG in the NBA. That's a very bold statement.

I did not mean to suggest that Evans is as good as James. Obviously there is only one Lebron and he certainly is one of the best players to ever play in the NBA. I only found a similarity between their games. Both are very strong players (like bulls) driving to the rim and both unsually good ball handlers for their size and strength. It remains to be seen how good Tyreke's outside shot is, but I am sure it will improve with time.

Gavin is that you?

I saw an interview with Tyreke Evans where he was asked who his game relates well to. He named two players in his answer. Tracey McGrady, and LeBron James. So even he thinks there is a similarity. I need to go find the link to that interview...

Edit: Found it :) :30

Whoop de do. A friend once asked me who I pattern my game after. I said Jason Kidd. QUICK. Someone sign me! I don't need a lot, just the midlevel exception so I can feed my family. :p

I don't remember watching him in college, but seeing the clips that I've seen of him, my first impression was to physically compare him to Lebron. Not talent or potential, just his build. If he does in fact play point guard, his build alone is comparable to Lebron in the sense that he will be physically dominating over those trying to guard him...

What is your point rhythymless?
Thanks for the video Jespher. I think his is more like Lebron than TMac. I really like that he wants to go up against Kobe! He is on the right team!

I understood what you were saying. Humor is great on this board. But when 15 posters jump on the same line of sarcasm its not so great. Especially when you are being taken out of context.

Just letting you know some of us are over 15.

I understood that perfectly. :) Sorry you got jumped.

There some Lebron comparisons in the weeks prior to the draft by teams that Evans worked out for. The common word that came out was that he was able to impose himself physically on the other players on the court like Lebron does.

Physically, I can see the similarity as both players are big and strong for the position that they play. I think Evans actually has better handles than Lebron when he first entered the league. Both are great shooters. They both can take their defender off the dribble at anytime but that goes for many other players as well. So there are similarities. But lets wait till we see him play before we make judgements.
