Apparently I was a tad late and they beat me to it on the personnel thread.
Yikes.
Hollinger says, "Outlaw needs to be a major offensive contributor to be useful, because defensively he doesn't offer a lot. Although he's very long, Outlaw is all arms and legs and can't get out of his own way. Once he starts going one way, he has no chance of changing direction quickly. His lack of coordination leads to near-comic sequences chasing players through screens off the ball, and his lack of strength means he can't
play 4 more regularly. Synergy rated him among the league's worst defenders, and his plus-minus supports that."
Is this all we can get to come to us these days? Hope we didn't spend much.

Maybe my memory is failing me, but didn't Outlaw give us fits a few times over the years? I don't recall him being anywhere near as bad as some are making him out to be. I think his old salary was prohibitive but I don't think he's that bad an acquisition.
The flip side of the coin is he's only 27 and only a few years removed from being an up-and-comer, but at this stage I really think he's showing his true colors. At the end, work ethic trumps physical tools. Outlaw's starting to go down the slippery slope instead of climb back up, IMO. And it's not like we have a great coach who can possibly re-orient his mentality.
So let's see...
We want Kirlienko.
New Jersey wants Kirilenko.
New Jersey dumps their SF and clears salary space.
We pick up New Jersey's SF and fill salary space.
a logical outcome of this progression is that New Jersey then signs Kirilenko.
If Hayes and Outlaw are the major moves the Maloofs promised, I am very disappointed. Do they expect us to rush to get tickets? Even a reasonable try at a semi-star would satisfy me and they haven't done it. You can't make money with a mediocre team on the court and they don't have any reason for being so damn cheap. It doesn't pay.
I don't like this. I mean, why? Why not offer either AK or Daly 3M more per year instead?
I'm looking at the off season acquisitions of Hayes and Outlaw, and am not very impressed. Not at all. Thorton was a given, and took zero effort. I really hope there's something else we don't know about.
I'd say getting Salmons, Hickson and Jimmer around the draft was a success, with Salmons being the only of the three I'm iffy about.
I'd also say bringing in Hayes and Outlaw, would be a failure of a free agency period. Don't consider Thorton and acquisition. Definite failure in my eyes. Trying doesn't count in this league.

They used less than 3MM of cap space in the upcoming year. He can be traded next year (thanks circa), no way we are getting a player this talented, for that price tag anywhere else. This is a terrific signing, especially if he is going to be the 10th man.
This does not stop going after AK.

Last time I checked Glenn, they made and effort to sign Jamal Crawford, and Kirilenko. I'm assuming that they made an offer to Dalembert, but can't verify it. Lets face it, this was a poor freeagent class. There were just a few at the top and after that, all that was left was the Crawfords of the world.
