Only two unknown guys there to Kings fans:

1) Rashid Byrd. Out of a JC? 7'1" 240 earns you a look I guess.

2) Brandon Robinson. Just noticed that both he and Bryd are apparently 26, which means they must have been out kicking around internationally or whatnot for the last few years.

Doubt either guy makes it past the second week, but anybody know anything about them?

Hey, Caner-Medley returns! I liked him from Summer League.

I see we have 2 new PF/C types, Byrd and Parada. I assume that they're "practice-only" acquisitions. Brandon Robinson, too.

Looks like Byrd's been bouncing around for a while. Best case outcome: "The next Mikki Moore." http://www.nba.com/sonics/news/byrd050721.html

Robinson was effective coming off the bench at Auburn, where he had a good rep as a defender. He then played for Albuquerque in the DL. http://www.nba.com/dleague/playerfile/brandon_robinson/index.html
Brandon Robinson (4th round) – Robinson, 26, played two years for Auburn, where he averaged 20 points per game and 6.7 rebounds during his last season. He has played in Finland and the Dominican Republic as well as having two seasons in the D-League. He averaged 11.1 points per game and 6.2 rebounds with Albuquerque last season.

Parada has made past training camp appearances with the Kings.

Yes, Parada has been here before, and he wasn't good.

Caner-Medley looked godawful the first couple of games of SL, then had 2 big ones as I recall out of the last three. Maybe a homeless quadraplegic recently deceased man's Matt Harping. Maybe.

Here's the real issue. have to keep at least 13, at most 15.

1) Brad
2) Hawes
3) Reef
4) Kenny
5) Mikki
6) Justin
7) Artest
8) Cisco
9) Salmons
10) Martin
11) Douby
12) Bibby

So 1-3 of the following 7:
PG Shakur
PG Greene
SF Caner Medley
SF Robinson
PF Watkins
C Byrd
C Parada

And with us in recent years it soften been just 1. Would be happy if we kept jsut 2 though -- the winner of the Shakur/Greene battle, and then maybe Watkins, who I liked as a solid low level rebounder/shotblocker type in SL.

Have to disagree with you on this one Bricky. I don't think Caner Medley has much of a chance to make the team, unless we trade Artest and a spot opens up for him, but he was not godawful in the first two games. I think the Kings wanted to have a serious look another player, who's name I can't remember but they had touted prior to summer play. As a result Caner didn't get many minutes in the first two games.
After the first two games I think the Kings had made up their mind on the other player and Caner finally got minutes, and rose to the occasion with two outstanding games and one I would call average. He's a hustle player with a decent to good outside shot who knows what he's capable of and what he's not capable of. There are players in the league with less talent than him.

Yep. Some tough decisions, unless they can unload/buy out KT.......... IF, and a big IF, one of the other bigs can outplay him in camp.

Would like to see Greene or Shakur, Watkins and Caner-Medley. Have a feeling that Greene may have advantage over Shakur for all around play.

Actually a buy out of Kennys contract makes perfect sense if he cant be traded. He is part of a log jam at the 4-5 that will limit the pt for some of the young players tha could be the future of the franchise. His attitude is NOT what the locker room needs so if it were up to me I'd try like hell to trade him but if I could not move him by the time the season started I look into a buy out. Heck I can understand not even wanting him in training camp.

The guy who took Caner-Medley's minutes the first two games was Cisco who left Las Vegas after the second game for personal reasons and a tweaked ankle. After that Nik show good stuff on off and def and great shooting range out past 3pt line. (I watched him up close from sidelines for games 3-4-5). He is bubble for sure but depends how many the Kings keep for November until contracts firm up for year in December.

I agree that Cisco leaving certainly helped Caner, but there was someone else who was first off the bench after Cisco who's name I can't remember. Anyway, moot point. He played well when he had the chance.

First two games he did not play well at all. In fact the first game was quite pathetic as a foul filled waddlefest against China of all teams. These were the numbers through 2 games:

22min 3pts (1-5FG 1-2FT) 5rebs 3ast 0stl 0blk 2To 6fls

Last 3 were solid though.

The last couple roster spots are a waste of time. Kings fans were up in arms when we let Louis Amundson go a year ago (or two, like it matters) and where is he now? Tearing it up somewhere no doubt.

Justin Williams was cut, brought back and is now the second coming. Now I'd be lying if I said there isn't something exciting about a guy who can rebound and block shots. Enter Yogi Stewart. Doesn't anyone else see the similarity.

Nik Caner-Medley or Darryl Watkins....it really doesn't matter. Getting KT and other ****** off this team and building for the future does. We are so far off the map right now, GPS can't even rescue us. A rejuvenated Bibby and Miller, a hungrier and selfless Ron Ron and a KMart who brings it on both ends of the floor nightly can.

And what's your point?

Training camp is an opportunity for teams to look at various players. There aren't any guarantees. And BTW? I wasn't up in arms when Amundson didn't make the team. In fact, I don't recall many fans who were.

The point is simple. Players who won't see the court when it matters don't matter.

And BTW...plenty of fans were ticked off when Amundson was cut. I wasn't one of them either, but there were plenty. He had a good camp, boarded well and looked liked he could play a little.

Perhaps not your view, but look back and you will see many the fan who wanted that guy on the Kings.

I think more wanted him before camp because of some fairly over the top hype trhan wanted him after actually seeing him play. He struggled for us at everything but hustle.

Amundson signed a contract with the 76ers after a strong showing at summer league. I'm glad he latched on somewhere, but he isn't what we needed here.
