I really don't see Marcus Thornton fitting in with this team. He can score but does so at such an awful rate. Not to mention he plays little to no defense. I was looking at trade scenarios on other teams forums like the Jazz, Bulls and Cavs who all need a shooter. Fans want absolutely nothing to do with him, rightfully so. They realize what he is..a chucker. He could be great in a 6th man role, but its highly doubtful hes going go from 36mpg to the bench with the same team.
Let Jason Thompson, Donte Green walk, Amnesty Salmons
Draft Thomas Robinson
At first I was dreaming scenarios for a Varejo, or Taj Gibson swap but I got backlash like I was crazy, and probably rightfully so. He really isn't valued as high around the league. I hate when people bring up the fact "Hes our leading scorer." Yea hes a leading scorer of an awful team who brings nothing else to the table. Basically a downgraded Kevin Martin.
Trade Marcus Thornton to the Timberwolves for Wesley Johnson and Wayne Ellington
Timberwolves wouldn't turn this down, as he would fit perfect next to Rubio. Him and Love would make for a terrorizing combo beyond the Arc.
Wesley Johnson has talent, but also needs a change of scenery. He showed flashes of potential his rookie year but has been struggling for minutes with Beasley, Derrick Williams and Martell Webster playing his position. Hes a decent athletic option to have off the bench and has a good jump shot.
Wayne Ellington isn't going to be Thornton, but he provides consistent 3 point range which can spell Tyreke for 10-15 mins per game.
Trade Jimmer, Honeycutt and the 34th pick to the Hornets for Jason Smith and Grievis Vasquez.
Hornets do this in a heartbeat. They get Jimmer to pair with 2 lottery picks to help try and sell tickets. Smith puts up 10 points in 24 mins and can be a great bench option to stretch the floor. Vasquez 9ppg,2.6rebs, 5 assists is a high motor guy who would form a okay point guard rotation with I.T. He hustles, plays with unmatched intensity and puts in effort on the defensive end.
C. DeMarcus Cousins/Jason Smith/Whiteside
F. Thomas Robinson/Chuck Hayes
F. Terrence Williams/Wesley Johnson
G. Tyreke Evans/Wayne Ellington/Garcia
G. Isaiah Thomas/Greivis Vasquez
