Trade Idea with Golden State...

I went to that Warriors preseason game last night against that Lithuanian team (only went for the free courtside seats a friend gave me). After watching how Anthony Randolf played and the fans responses around me on how they feel about Brandon Wright I thought about a trade that I think might work, I don't know how exactly to get the money right but whatever, what do you guys think?...

how about:

Bobby Jackson
Sheldon Williams
2nd round pick

for

Brandon Wright

I think the Warriors could do it for the simple fact they have no pg and that Randolf at this point looks a bit more impressive then Wright.

I definately get the idea that Ws fans are down on Wright, so maybe it could happen?

I dont see why, kid's had a few good games in his VERY limited minutes, apperently there's some issues with toughness and drive with him...So I dunno how enthused I would be about a Wright/Hawes frontcourt.

...But hey, he's got more upside then Sheldon!

Which is exactly why GS probably wouldn't do it. I really wanted Wright last year, and would love to have him, but its not happening. Especially not with this trade, as I very highly doubt that the salaries come close to matching. Pretty sure Shelden alone makes more than Wright

I would do that trade in a second, no way GS does though. They are very high on Wright and would ask for a lot more back than that package. But with the chaos that is going on in the front office there right now, who knows ;)

You'd be right. We'd be trading over $10M total for $2.5M back. If this trade were a parade, the salary cap would be a thundercloud raining all over it.

Wright is a very young intriguing player with huge upside. I wouldn't mind taking a chance on him.

If we could get Wright and not give up anything of value, sure why not? So here's the question, assuming eveything worked cap wise, which it doesn't. If Wright can't be sucessful on a run and gun team like the Warriors who play a style that would seem to fit his game, why do you think he'll be sucessful on the Kings? All 120 pounds of him.

My problem with Wright, even in college was that he seemed to be a power forward in a small forwards body. He's not strong enough to match up with most of the PF's in the league, and at present, doesn't have that much of an outside game.. Most would admit that Jason Thompson needs to put on more weight and muscle, but at his present condition, he would make Wright look small.

I also would be reluctant to part with BJax at this time. Until I'm convinced that Beno can stay healthy, I don't want to turn this team over to Bobby Brown just yet.

That's awful for the Warriors. Wright was a lottery pick just a year ago, they won't give up on him that easily.

Then again, they did just sign Corey Maggette to a mega deal this offseason, so who knows

Not gonna happen. I live in SF and the feeling of Warrior fans 'round here is that Wright is a project and maybe a few years from being very, very good. The Warriors are not giving him on him and definitely not for a scrub, an aging vet, and a 2nd round pick. In fact, the grand plan is for the Warriors to suck badly this year, get a high pick and draft a star PG. Even sports writers are having wet dreams that a few yrs from now, the starting lineup of (star PG), Ellis, Randolph (SF), Wright (PF), and Beidrins will ignite the NBA with a combination of size, speed, and athleticism.

exactly. that's my dream for the kings as well after their lottery pick this year and FA money they have for the next:

PG-Stud rookie or FA.
SG-Martin/Douby
SF-Greene/Garcia
PF-Thompson or FA or Stud Rookie.
C-Hawes or FA or Stud Rookie

By the time the Kings cap space clears up, Martin will heading into his prime, the young guys (Hawes, Thompson and Greene) will hopefully be developing nicely, a stud rookie PG (top 3 pick?) would would be contributing already, hence "stud". They could then pick and choose who they want to spend their FA money on. This year may not be pretty, but the future actually looks bright for this team.
