So I live in the Sierra Foothills and never expected to ever even worry about a tornado in my area, until I got this text message from the National Weather Service at 6:30 tonight:
"Tornado Warning in this area til 7:15 PM PDT. Take shelter now. Check local media. - NWS"
I was caught off-guard and didn't really know what to do. I got in my truck and drove up my driveway until I could see off into the distance (I can see about 100 miles). Sure enough, there was a wall cloud with a funnel poking down.
Scary stuff. Thankfully the storm passed North of me. I did get some nasty hail and winds tonight though. I guess we had 5 tornadoes touch down in Northern California today, though, supposedly tomorrow is going to be the bad day for t-storms.
