Tornadoes in Norcal

#1
So I live in the Sierra Foothills and never expected to ever even worry about a tornado in my area, until I got this text message from the National Weather Service at 6:30 tonight:

"Tornado Warning in this area til 7:15 PM PDT. Take shelter now. Check local media. - NWS"

I was caught off-guard and didn't really know what to do. I got in my truck and drove up my driveway until I could see off into the distance (I can see about 100 miles). Sure enough, there was a wall cloud with a funnel poking down.

Scary stuff. Thankfully the storm passed North of me. I did get some nasty hail and winds tonight though. I guess we had 5 tornadoes touch down in Northern California today, though, supposedly tomorrow is going to be the bad day for t-storms.

Yep, one of those tornadoes touched down very close to my house in south Yuba City. Too close for comfort. A second one touched down a little southeast of that one, too. Just weird. I've lived in the northern valley since 1967 and I can't remember tornadoes ever. Then the last few years, it's happened quite a few times. Note to people in Tornado Alley: "Tornadoes here are still puny and nothing like ones in your neck of the woods, thank goodness. Still, even the puny ones do some damage. Wouldn't want even a puny one to hit my home, or anyone else's home or business.
