Too much talk and not enough basketball

Am I the only one who is totally fed up with the trash talking going on by some teams? I find it very interesting that those doing the most talking are the ones who aren't putting it all out there on the court.

Josh Howard? Um, dude? Did you know that smoking marijuana is against the law? You are NOT gonna get away with making comments about smoking it in the off-season, regardless of whether everyone else you know also does it.

Jerry Stackhouse? Um, Byron Scott earned his ring. You have like zero right to talk the talk when you have yet to show you can even crawl the crawl, let alone walk the walk.

Carmelo Anthony? Oh please. Quit freaking whining about Kobe Bryant and play the game.

NBA league office? Care to explain why the officials are, all of a sudden, calling Shaq for every line violation when it's something he's done all season? You don't suddenly decide it's a violation. Did Timmy Duncan or the Spurs send you film clips to show what pretty much everyone who has ever watched Shaq play already knew? Was this a surprise to you? Sorry, but this is almost as obvious and blatant as the Amare Stoudamire fiasco last year. If you're that enamored of the Spurs, just cancel the first two rounds of the playoffs and let the Spurs and the Lakers meet for the WCF...

I'm still watching but I'm rooting for the guys who suck it up and play, not those who want every little perceived slight to be addressed in the media. Shut up and play, guys. For the rest of your season, however long it might be, at least try and look like you want to earn the bajillion dollars a year you receive for playing a game.

Is there a hidden message there that you're appreciating the kind of game the Lakers are playing? :D

My love of the game of basketball is first and foremost. If you keep trying to get me to talk about how I feel about the Lakers, you aren't going to like the result. They're playing the freaking Nuggets. I'd be pretty stunned if they weren't making it look pretty easy. Let's not get carried away, Futuristic.

I am not now, nor will I ever be a Lakers fan.

The fact I consider two Laker fans - Gargy and hoopsie - to be two of my cyberfriends is IN SPITE of their team selection. It's because I know they both happen to love the game as much as I do.

Let me repeat: I am not now, nor will I ever be a Lakers fan. Period. End of sentence. Hopefully end of discussion and your misunderstanding of my POV in general.

Just checking. :D

Nope. Lots of adult-aged boys in this league.

Josh Howard? Um, dude? Did you know that smoking marijuana is against the law? You are NOT gonna get away with making comments about smoking it in the off-season, regardless of whether everyone else you know also does it.

To quote the first player banned by the league for drug use (in regards to the Mavs): "This ship be sinkin..."

Jerry Stackhouse? Um, Byron Scott earned his ring. You have like zero right to talk the talk when you have yet to show you can even crawl the crawl, let alone walk the walk.

Not to mention that he once suckerpunched Hornacek with full force and still didn't even faze him. Jeff Hornacek... And he wants to go after Byron Scott? Methinks he's just woofin.

Carmelo Anthony? Oh please. Quit freaking whining about Kobe Bryant and play the game.

Ironically, his teammate has a death on his hands for SOBER reckless driving tactics. Solace for Melo.

That's because they do listen to teams sending in footage and then the zebras act accordingly. They won't admit it of course, but Nellie and Cuban did the same thing a few yrs back w/ the same results.

I'm still watching but I'm rooting for the guys who suck it up and play, not those who want every little perceived slight to be addressed in the media.

Btw, I'm surprised you forgot DeShawn and LeBron, VF. JayZ is hot off the presses with a new diss track about DeShawn. Cristal all around.

This is sort of like a diss track, now that I think of it. ;)

Well the whole playoffs have basically been blowouts except for the epic game one between phoenix and san antonio. I guess all of the crappy teams have nothing to do but talk.

I don't think it's fair to say all the crappy teams have nothing to do but talk. There is a lot of trash talking in the Celts/Hawks series and that has been decent so far. KG and Pierce talked a ton of trash, then Bibby dissed the boston fans, then Pierce and Horford got into it in game 3 while ATL pulled off the upset. I dunno maybe this isn't included in the stuff you guys are complaining about but I just thought I'd mention it. I enjoy the LeBron/Deshawn/SouljaBoy/JayZ feud also.

I do agree on a lot of the points you guys make also. Personally I don't care what Josh Howard does in the season or offseason or whether he smokes weed or not, but announcing it is flat out stupid and throwing other players under the bus. I don't really care it's illegal, I don't do it because I do not want to damage my own health, but I don't think Howard announcing it is the smartest thing to do either.

Kidd shouldn't have fouled Pargo that hard tonight either. Grabbing someone by the neck when they're in the air is dangerous. I'm amazed that when someone accidentally elbows LeBron in the head because they're going for the block they call it a flagrant also, that is just ridiculous. Stackhouse should stfu(I'm not exactly sure what he did to be honest), he kinda sucks and shouldn't act like a punk.

What'd Melo say about Kobe? I'd probably agree to be honest if I knew what he said...

You know what it is? If you want to inflict some pain, do it on the ground and try to make it look like a foul. If you elbow someone, just don't get neck or head and you have a good chance of not being suspended (Najera the latest example). They have a no tolerance policy for air fouls, but their decisions on elbows and anything not closed-fist are shaky at best. And even if you do get suspended in the playoffs, it's hard to imagine what you'd have to do to get 2 gms.

Oops. You weren't supposed to notice.
