TNT Guys Praise Rick Adelman

Barkley: Rick did a "fantasic job" this year.

Magic: The Kings "showed up" for the Spurs series, and Rick deserved at least a few years with the new look.

General theme is that Rick got screwed, and that the Kings made a mistake.

All of this was pretty much inevitable. At this point, today, it wasn't a mistake. If they're talking about how much of a mistake it was to let it get to this point, then I'll agree.

Its easy for them to say. Of course it was easy for them to lay all the blame on him when things weren't looking up for the Kings.

Uh, it was a mistake. What reason is there to let him go? What did he do wrong? NOTHING!!! They took the spurs to six games and gave them a run for their money. What more can you ask from this team? They're only going to get better with another year under martin and garcia's belt and a full year of Artest. BIG AND SENSELESS MISTAKE!!!!!!!!

the real deal is who will be the new coach !
i hope it won't be larry brown or lenny wilkens !
i'd like to see nate mcmillan or jerry sloan( but i don't think he would move from utah)

who do you think we need as a coach ?

i don't think it was a mistake at all. and french Kingsfan, I think you should go to the " Kings Coaching Prospects" thread for more on which coach would be right for the team. :)

Actually, the general opinion was along with the changes over the last few years, Kings are going with a new outlook and direction.

I don't like the comments that are swirling this morning from fans on the radio and a few on here. No one got *screwed*. Just, because a team does not re-sign a coach after 8 YEARS does not mean you screwed the coach. It's the ownerships, and Gm's decision to do so.

That would be like your ex saying you cheated on her, because you broke up with her. It's just not right. No one got *screwed*. I think a lot of people are missing the point that this whole thing was partly Adelman's decision. Both side's didn't like what they were hearing.

Rick made a comment about 2 weeks ago when being interviewed about the coaching position for next year. He said, everyone is talking about if the Maloofs are going to want to re-sign me. Has anyone stopped and thought if I want to come back?? I knew right then he had a take it or leave it attitude about the whole thing.

Nice post DOC and someone mentioned Larry Brown.

A lot of people hate him but I have always liked him. I don't think him and Artest would be a good mix but how the hell am I to really know.

I also know he is a control freak and you may as well not have a GM if he is around. I like LB but agree he shouldn't be our next coach. I wouldn't be upset if it was.

To me Nellie is the only coach we can possibly get that will really get me upset.

Brown could destroy this franchise. Not an exaggeration. Sacto is not big enough to hold his ego. And he EASILY has it in him to send Artest spiraling, and undercut/chase Petrie out of town as well.

I agree Bricks, I still like him but think for sure he is not the right fit here. Plus I don't like the fact that if you hire LB you go in knowing its not long term. Its 2-3 years maybe 4 if your lucky.

Still LB is a good coach just not for us. He is not in my top lists of "maloofs should listen to me" coaches.
