Time to praise Artest!

BALLER4LIFE

G-League
I just wanted to point out the fact that Artest is a solider. How many players would play with a heavily bandaged thumb on their shooting hand, still swat at every ball their near, and keep playing at the level he has been competing at. Hes shutting down one of the top players in the NBA for god sake... In an interview last night he was asked if his thumb still hurts while playing and he responded with something along the lines of … Yea it hurts right now, but there is nothing I can do about it… it’s the playoffs of course I’m going to keep playing…

many other players would sit out injured like he is... or if they played they would not be playing at 110 percent!

Now that is a “true warrior” with true heart for basketball!

yeah, he's been awesome for us...and by the way, hasn't peja missed the last two games for the pacers? hmmm...i doubt ron would take any games off

Yah, I am really impressed. I think our team is what Ron was looking for. He wants to be a leader, and our team was looking for a leader. Plus he backs it up with some MARVELOUS play as well as being real vocal.

He is definitely a keeper!

the funny thing is before he got here, his agent said he would not play in sac. This reminds me of the webber situation. Webber did not want to come, then came and realized how much love there is for the players in sac. Artest will resign when his contract is up in 2 years and will continue to be the face of our franchise for years to come!

Yep. I think his agent spoke prematurely about him coming here. I know Sac isn't the greatest place, but when it cmes to basketball I have no idea why someone WOULDN'T want to come play here. Especially when they have a chance to lead the team. Artest looks as if he has found a home here. He (I hope) will be our leader for years to come. :D

thats funny... we now know who got the best of the deal (not like we haven't known the whole time).. one player leading the team.. the other leading the team cheering from the sidelines with a "hurt knee".
:D

That's hilarious

I appreciate what Artest has done, but I am not praising anyone. This is a team and everyone else deserves just as much praise as Artest.

I am confused...was the title of this thread "Time to praise Artest" or "Time to bash Peja"?

Wow. Maybe we should just never speak St. Peja's name again unless it's in whispered revering tones?

It's not our fault he's sitting out with yet ANOTHER series of mysterious and somewhat puzzling injuries.

I'm seeing the same comments on Pacers boards so the righteous indignation is a little out of place.

Get a life honestly. Your double standards sicken me. God forbid anyone said about Webber you'd be deleting the posts.

Peja right before a game: Oww..oww coach... my pinky and part of my hand it's sore...ohh..man that hurts I don't think I can play coach. I'm sorry.

Artest as the game is about to start walking on to the court:

Adelman: RON!! What are you doing??
Artest: I'm going out on the court coach, they are about to tipoff.
Adelman: But your hand is going to fall off!!
Artest: I'll be ok coach!
Adelman: NO LOOK!! I mean it's LITERALLY about to fall off, it's hanging by one side. Jesus you're making a mess on the court. Get to the locker room.
Artest: It's just a flesh wound. Staple it back on.

<heavy sarcasm>At least Peja has a chance to sit out with an injury with the Pacers. Where is Chris Webber this post season?</heavy sarcasm>

I'll admit that Peja bashing bothers me because (last season and a half not included) he earned his tenure and should be respected for what he did. I thought that WE Kings fans are classier than to go bashing our past players (unless their name is Tony Massenburg). Especially if it is making fun of someone who might be sitting out with a legit injury this time.

I'm sure Artest would play with a swollen knee because his pain threshold is unlimited, but knee is more serious than a finger injury.

That's why Artest is referred to as the Black Knight (Monty Python fans will understand) and Peja has a much less flattering nickname.

Peja sat the fourth quarter of a game. The next game, according to a lot of different comments on Pacers boards, he came up with this "knee" problem they weren't even aware of... that's fans of the team Peja is currently playing for.

His entire season has been riddled with injuries, real or imagined or perhaps just a little exaggerated. Sorry if that upsets you, Deathrow, but that's the truth.

So that was bashing? Or was it simply making comedic comments about a situation? Maybe the comments weren't that funny but they certainly weren't bashing... and to compare what is being said now with the VAST AMOUNTS of vitriol tossed in Webber's direction is just ridiculous.

Artest, by the way, has more than just a fingery injur. He also has bruised ribs, a contusion on his upper left thigh, his lip - with three stitches in it from game 1 - is still swollen because of repeated hits to the mouth, etc.

The part I highlighted says quite a bit, IMHO. It MIGHT be a legit injury? That's pretty telling...

Wow, I don't understand why criticism of Peja always leads to someone ripping on CWebb. I'm sure if you put Peja in Philly he would have carried them to the playoffs, right?;)

A knee is definitely more serious than a finger injury, and Peja may well be injured. However, this is somewhat like the story of the little boy that cried wolf... after a few questionable "injuries", people start to wonder.

Patently unfair.

WEBBER never wanted to be traded. And he played almost all of the games this season, working as hard as he could to help get his team into the playoffs.

PEJA wanted to be traded, retracted the comment, and was pretty much missing in action most of this season before he was traded. The nagging back injury mysteriously went away as soon as he was traded to Indiana. Coincidence? Who knows? If the Pacers go all the way, Peja will get a ring. But it won't be because he worked his posterior off to earn it.

I like Webber and was only trying to be sarcastic.

I think making fun of anyone's injury is not funny and is considered bashing.

I'm done trying to argue for Peja. I still like him as a player and appreciate what he has done for us (regardless of trade request). Stil, think about it, Peja's request was actually well timed. Imagine trading Peja at the time of his request and retaining CWebb's services?!

Regardless. This is not topic for discussion in Kings forum, adn honestly any discussion on it will get my blood preassure up (and I need to save that for the game tonight) :)

Go Kings!!

I was't trying to bash Peja at all. I still like him and hope he does well. I was just pointing out an example of why I'm glad we have Artest now.

The undeniable fact of it all is that Ron will play through an injury, and play effectively, at that. Peja will either not play, or will be a shadow of what he normally is if he even has an ache or pain. Different pain tolerances, but I'd much rather have the former than the latter.

I praise Ron Artest nightly before going to bed.

I'm not going to get into the bashing. What Ron has done for this team is immeasurable. We would never even be in the PO's if we didn't have him. I think PP should do an avatar for King Ron:D

Amen. There is no need in belittling Peja in order to make Ron look good. I think it's quite obvious what Ron brings to the table.

It's funny how your definition of "bashing" varies depending on the player involved.

P.S. You also forgot to mention Ron is playing with 4 amputated toes

Speaking of players getting treated differently.

Who heard brent barry saying there gonna have to come up with a way to cover bonzi. And brent went on to say he might have to sneak in a weapon and slice bonzi’s achilles. I know barry was joking but could you imagine if artest were to say those same remarks about Duncan, parker or manu. He would probably be suspended for the series. Funny how different players are treated so differently.

Well that's only because Ron might actually do it. :D

Did think that missed the mark as humor on Barry's part though. Think he would have done better going wiht the pop culture semi-comical "break his kneecaps".

I agree with you that NBA league treats different players differently and I have made my views quite clear on that in the "Artest suspended for Game 2" thread. I am still not sure what this has to do with VF21 as I was speaking to her.
