Our bus hostess invited those of us eh, not in the age range for participation, to come out and watch her run her camp....

Field trip anyone?

From Thursday's "Marty Mac's World" column

Yesterday's (Thursday, Nov. 29th) Marty Mac's column in the SacBee, did a plug for Ticha's camp! Thanks, Marty! :)

http://www.sacbee.com/100/story/529469.html

However, what concerned me was this bit:
...Penicheiro had surgery on her left elbow Nov. 7 and therefore did not make her customary trip overseas to play ball. Instead, she's been rehabilitating and working out here...

I do not remember Ticha having a recent elbow injury. Did this occur during the playoffs against the Silver Stars?

Anyway, get well soon, Ticha! :)

She talked about it on the bus to Stanford and said it wasn't a major thing - she just had some scoping done to remove stuff that was floating around. Since it has not changed her plans other than the date she intended to leave for Russia - it doesn't seem to be a big issue.

As for the injury itself, like many of our walking wounded this past season she wore neoprene somewhere on her body (I think we cornered the market on neoprene in 07). Ticha's design of choice was a sleeve on the elbow for much of the year after she tangled with Brunson during a play in a game early on in the season.

We caught the auction today at Center Court.
MBF & myself had our eyes on Ticha's i-pod.
We let Ticha know thats what we were after...Ticha left & returned to notify us that she had changed her mind & left the i-pod at home.
We chalked it up to Ticha not having her favorite tunes, & if a kid got ahold of it, then she'd have to explain the explicit lyrics of some tracks.

It was real cool hanging out with Ticha & those in attendance. I only wish I had more coins to spend. Well we did get 3 tee-shirts for $10 bucks....really nice. Maybe MBF can give her event report;)

That was a lotta fun and I'll agree that Ticha was really cool and fun to hang with as well. Losing the iPod was alright, had I thought about it, I would have offered to let her just give it to me since she needed to get rid of it and all..I would have happily saved the little kids from the exposure to some PG13 and higher material out of the goodness of my heart.... ;)

I'm not sure if the switch and taking the iPod off the table prompted this or if it was already on the auction block coming into today, but NBH and I along with two other people momentarily considered pooling our money together to bid on the "Dinner With Ticha" package - where the highest bidder would have gone to a restaurant where Ticha would have cooked a multi-course Portuguese dinner for up to four people. The date she had in mind for that unfortunately would not have worked for me but, shoot it was still tempting. As was the momentary idea of bidding on any of her authentic game worn stuff - I'd have to forgo a looooot of of stuff (like food and rent) to have beaten out the determined folks bidding up on stuff. She did a good job raising money for the charities she's supporting. Unfortunately the crowd wasn't interested in the Kings stuff she was auctioning, and given the interest of the room to all things she had in her closet with her name and #21 on it, she was nearly tempted to go back home and get some more stuff. She even brought out her championship bling which prompted a young girl to ask her if she was going to auction that off, Ticha gently explained to her that she ain't got enough money in the world to buy that from her. But she generously let that thing float around the room for everyone to see, most of the time with her finger attached to it (thankfully because it was making me nervous just being in the room and not locked up somewhere.

From what we were told by one of the camp counselors, some of the young girls in her camp this weekend certainly can ball. One lil point guard to be apparently has the flashy moves Ticha did at her age. Good to know the pipeline is still stocked, although we may have 10+ years to wait.

People should hit Yo's camp, she should be equally as fun. And who couldn't benefit from learning how to clear some space in the paint or a boatload of O-boards huh? That should be mandatory lifeskills!

Thanks for reporting, NBH & MBF. Sounds like a lot of fun. I stayed home working on getting rid of my bronchitis, which is finally clearing up somewhat.

Anyway, sounds like it was a bunch of fun. Hey, I'd have bid on some Kings stuff, if there wasn't much competition. :D

They did have several sets of game worn & new Kings player shoes.
Nobody bidded on the Kings stuff. They had K-Mart, Bibby, Artest, Thomas
just to name a few. They were nice looking shoes.

Ticha's shoes were size 9 1/2. a bit too big for my feet;)

Get well 6th!

Man, I see from the video that I was indeed too damn old and too damn not as flexible as Ticha or kids under the age of 12 for that camp. :D

Hiltie03, suggest to TP that us older folks should get a Dancin' With Ticha or Bend It Like Ticha camp or something along those lines....;)

(and I'm still willing to help her dispose of that ipod, I'm very selfless like that...;))
