This would be the first time the kings could face the spurs in the playoffs !

It looks like we will be playing the spurs in the playoffs , we never had the chance to play the spurs when we were in the elite status 2001-2004.

we would have if we beat dallas. But hey, lets focus on the here and now. And by the way, lets show the world what the new kings are all about when we uncrown the champs!! To be the best, you gotta beat the best.

It would be a hell of a way to start a postseason run if we beat them!

Might be the start of a new rivalry, which isn't a bad thing.

Yep, its too bad. Everyone wanted to see that matchup. Spurs fought Lakers. Kings fought Lakers. But we never met during that era. And now we finally do and its a whole different team as a #1 vs. a #8.

Most of us have some sort of strong dislike for the Mavs, Lakers, Jazz, even Phoenix to an extent because of our past playoff battles. The Spurs however, I don't think many of us have a dislike for at all. In fact, I know I found myself rooting for the Spurs most of the time since they were the only ones able to beat the Lakers.

Anyways, I'm guessing we can say good bye to any of those "good feelings" with the Spurs after this years playoffs (assuming we end up playin them). :)

Look..... if we do come out of it beating the Spurs, why the hell would we settle for second round? Might as well win the whole dam thing... or atleast reach the finals where the Pistons might do us in.

The Kings could be a potential matchup nightmare for the Spurs. There's nobody on that team that can guard Artest, Bonzi has a history of playing well against the Spurs, Bibby will get his way with Parker. On the defensive end Artest can also shutdown Manu. The flipside to that is Duncan will be a handful as usual, Parker will also have his way with Bibby's porous defense and the Spurs have two Kings killers in Horry & Nick "the quick" (remember them?). The "x' factors for the Kings are Martin & Garcia, and Nazr Mohammed for the Spurs. They do have the experience over the Kings, but it should be an interesting series to say the least.

Well, I think the Spurs obviously have a pretty good answer to Ron. Not as bulky as some, but you don't make 1394 All-Defensive teams wihtout being tough as nails.

The real problems for the Spurs are a) the Ron/Bonzi PAIRING -- they only have one Bowen, we have two bashing little guys. Manu is a finesse/skilled skinny guy, and no match at all for Bonzi's football game. b) KTs quickness. and c) Brad's perimeter ability.

Interesting thing will be you wonder how reactive Pop will be in the face of those matchup issues. For instance, would he actually start Finley to get the better size/strength match on Bonzi? I could see it -- he did it a couple of years ago (bringing Manu off the bench), and he's started Finley some this year too. They lose a lot energywise, but then they at least have someone who can pretend to muscle around with Bonzi, and then bring Manu in as a dagger off the bench. And there is also the Horry factor -- its Horrytime. And while you have to wonder how much he has left in the tank -- one of these years he's going to reach back to kick it inot that extra gear for the playoffs and find the tank is empty -- he remains a perfect antidote for the mismatch problems we cause up front. Horry is ideal Brad kryptonite -- long, mobile, smaller and quicker. Able to stay with him all over the court.

Parker/Bibby is a nightmare matchup for the Kings -- Bibby did well in the last game, but Parker is far too quick for Bibby and can run him all over the court and get pretty much anything he wants. The series will hinge on how Parker plays -- if he's on it's going to be lights out, if he's off the Kings have a chance. But I don't think Bibby will really have a say in the matter, he just can't guard Parker.

Hate the fact that Hart is back in the rotation and that Garcia is undergoing confidence destruction. He was coming on strong before he hurt his ankle (unbelievable bad luck). His long arms and heart led to some defensive plays, and he was becoming a very good drive and dish player.

Alas, he's been discarded into ADelman's holding tank and replaced with a player who presents zero threat to the Spurs and very little to the Kings future. Maybe it's simply because Garcia's ankle is still bad, but pushing Hart into the game against the Spurs seems scary.

i hate the spurs....... period

thinking back.....it generally upsets me that the kings never had the chance to play the spurs in the playoffs in the 2001 -2002 and 2002 - 2003 season.......and because the spurs won in 2003....everyone simply assumes that they would have beaten the kings and forgets that the main contributing factor towards the spurs championship was the fact that CWebb got injured against Dallas and Dirk got injured against the spurs.....f**k the spurs

however, concentrating on the here and now.......they will most probably beat us

Even though we have never played the Spurs, I have always disliked them - mostly Tim Duncan, Bowen, and Parker (I actually like Ginobili). If that wasn't enough, though, now they've added:

NVE
Robert Horry
Brent Barry
Michael Finley

How could a Kings fan NOT hate this team? We will soon enough...even moreso...hopefully our hatred will be expressed in the form of a victory dance, although my heart tells me it isn't meant to be...

one things for certain. the spurs got their work cut out for them if things hold up. facing us in round 1 is no cake walk. then if they advance they would most likely play dallas in the semis. the suns are really lucking out here with the two seed.

the only soldier that remains from that big 2002 series with the lakers is bibby. miller came shortly after. now we have an all-star and defender in ron artest. i think the spurs should be more worried about mike bibby. he will be one of the best perimeter shooters in the playoffs. so popovich has to decide. does bowen gaurd artest or bibby. he may still put bowen on artest and just hope mike will miss his shots. the spurs dont have more than one perimeter defender. its going to be hard for them to contain our shooters. should be interesting. it wont be a sweap i'll tell ya that.

Well what the REST of the teams in the West are glad to see is that the slightly banged up Spurs are facing the healthy NEW BRUISER Kings... Ginoblie, Bowen, Ducncan and Naz will feel it!

Looking up I still can't quite belive I typed tose words, who would have thought the Kings would go from Mr. Stay Puff (Ghostbusters) to THING (Fantastic 4) in one season.

Well, our bruising is mostly at the smaller positions. Duncan/Nazr will still have a chance to feast on a small softish frontline. Its just that Bowen, Manu, Finley, Barry are going to know they've been in a war.
