And, again, I had almost the exact opposite reaction to Backlash than you did; I absolutely loathe every single one of the guys you like, except for Matt Hardy. Especially Edge.

Wrestling simply rocks.

Because I have ZERO clue how anyone would want SuperCena over Edge.
The guys ridiculous. How do you even consider getting up after a con-chair-to??? SuperCENA POWERS!
Bless you Big Show for being my kryptonite.
;)

And HHH getting punted is the single best moment of wrestling is seeing H get smashed.
H has been awful forever.
Bring him back a heel somehow. Maybe because Orton's awesomeness will make him a Stone Cold-esq face leading to H's evil.

I dont know...HHH as a face has been stale since his last comeback.

This seems like a trick question: why would I want Cena over Edge? Because I like Cena, and I don't like Edge. I've never liked Edge: I didn't like him when he was working indies in Canada, I didn't like him when he broke Jorge Estrada's neck in his second match in the E. I didn't like "Flash Photography," I didn't like any of it. He's one of those guys I tolerated because he's a decent worker, but I never watch wrestling live, and I always fast-forward through promos, so I don't really care whether he's a good talker or not, and I don't like his personality in general. And, after the business with Lita, I completely turned the page on Edge.

Cena, on the other hand, I've always liked: I liked the "Ruthless Agression" Cena, the "Doctor of Thugganomics" Cena, and I like this "HLR" Cena.

To be fair, there is a strong anti-Cena sentiment on the wrestling forum I post at. What amuses me about it is that they are of the opinion that Cena does not appeal to adult males. The reason this amuses me is because, while they are, in fact, adults (most of them, anyway), the average age over there is 24-26, which is sufficiently significantly younger than me... so when they classify themselves as adults, it makes me wonder how they classify me. I get the sense that the greater majority of the sort of guys who think that Edge is cool and Cena sucks are those who were pre-adolescents/teenagers during the Attitude Era, and like those "edgy" characters. By comparison, I was a pre-adolescent/teenager during the Hulkamania era and, while I didn't like Hogan (because he's a big, fat, orange hypocrite), I've never had a problem with the whole concept of a "Superman"-type babyface, at least, not as a matter of principle.

For all that, the few friends I have that still watch wrestling like Cena as well; of course, we're all in our mid thirties, so take that for whatever you think it's worth...

I think that he will be essentially the same character, except insulting the faces he goes after the heels with a cheesy smile on his face.
And as a face he will be allowed to unleash his high fling skills. He has sweet split-legged/standing top rope twisting moonsaults that Ive seen, he's recently used a shooting star, and Ive heard he has a standing shooting star.

Im psyched abut him, because I think he can be the next megastar in the WWE/Wrestling world.

And after watching RAW tonight.
Wow...
The only things on RAW I think I'll watch for are:
1: MVP's main event push. Im still semi-amazed he is now totally over as a face despite the ONLY difference between before and after is a 20+ match losing streak.
2: Hoping THE Brian Kendrick is not fired for smoking to much pot.
3: Santino...Guilty pleasure. Whatever the guy does makes me laugh.
4: Maryse

RAW has the 'names' but...Im not sure if I can stomach their top talent.
SD! is definitly my WWE show to religiously watch until the next draft.

As it stands now, Id rather watch ECW/Superstars/TNA before RAW...

AND/
Im guessing you disagree Slim?
The generational gap, with SD! beng the edgy brand and RAW being more old school.

"Edgy" is overrated, at least in my opinion. But, you've got to take that with a grain of salt: our age difference means that we're going to have significantly different perspectives on the same stuff. I stopped being swayed by "edgy" a long time ago. Frankly, the "old school" RAW is not "old school" enough to suit me. And, I never watch wrestling live any more, so thinking in terms of which show is better is mostly a relative terms, since I fast-forward through almost everything; DVR is the greatest technological advancement in the history of television.

Im almost embarrassed to admit that Zack Ryder has catapulted to the top of my favorite wrestlers list.
His theme is pure greatness.

WOO WOO WOO!
You KNOW It!

Raven back to TNA is a complete win. He needs to stay on my TV screen for a good long time. He's now the sole reason I watch TNA.

And SmackDown tonight has been a wrestling show I haven't seen in AGES....
We had an opening promo, then it was pretty much (gasp) *WRESTLING* throughout the rest of the show.
Although it sucked to see Dolph Ziggler get squashed by the useless Khali.

WWE just future endeavored Umaga.

WTF? This isn't something I saw coming. I thought they had big plans for him with his CM Punk angle they were doing.

Maybe yet another one will probably be heading to TNA. Samoa Joe and Samoa Jamal for The Nation of Violence.

Not a big fan of TNA scooping up all of WWE's retreads. I did like seeing them sign Lisa Marie/Victoria, though; she's my third-favorite out of all of the women to have wrestled for WWE in the last dozen years (behind Nora/Molly and Beth Phoenix).

In fact, I'd like to see TNA sign a few more women from Shimmer, since WWE seems to have a mental block when it comes to booking a women's division seriously. Sarah Stock should do well, but women like Daizee Haze, Mercedes Martinez and Sara Del Ray would be huge in TNA. MsChif is great, too, but I could see TNA trying to force her to change her character completely, and out of the ME talent in Shimmer, she strikes me as the one least likely to adapt to performing without her persona.

I stopped watching wrestling a long time ago, but Raven was always my favorite wrestler. I loved the days when "The Flock" were sitting at ringside every week. Raven, Saturn, Riggs, Kidman, Reese, Kanyon......awesome.

Woo Woo Woo!

Never been to a big show, only been to one House Show, so Im pretty psyched.

Sweet. Congrats. The two biggest shows I've been to were Judgment Day 2001 (Double main event: Austin vs Taker for WWF, Triple H vs Kane for IC)

and RAW (in 2001 or 2002?) when Kurt Angle brought out the milk truck on Stephanie McMahon and her group. I believe it was her birthday and she had just got done singing "Wind beneath my wings," which was BTW very very painful to hear.

I know nothing about him, but after hearing the news I was checking out his wiki page, and he had something like 24 five-star matches

Compare that to the US leader, and that is Ric Flair with 6.

A true loss indeed.

Okay.
Who, HONESTLY, saw Samoa Joe handing Kurt Angle the title tonight?!

I am a 1000% Kurt Angle mark, back through pretty much every "You Suck," Milk-Man, WWF/E match he had.
I have liked Angle through his entire career.

And I am a sucker for a swerve, and especially a heel swerve, but I can not wait until Impact next week!
Joe in the MEM should be...Interesting/
And what will Sting do?

And last, it Sucks Raven/Daffney lost but I prey they're not off my TV.

TNA's June PPV just BLEW WWE's PPV out of the water despite The Bash not happening yet.

I hope for half the show when I show up at The Bash!

Well, at least one of us is happy with the result of the main event. I find myself, once again, on the other side of the aisle with your opinion, as I dislike turns (heel or face) in the middle of matches, and I loathe swerves. But especially hate turns like this: it's one thing if you turn heel, and then you're on your own like Bad News Brown, or Joe's early heel run in TNA, but when you suddenly find yourself partnering up with the same people your were trying to cripple a week ago... that compromises my ability to suspend disbelief.

The sole reason for my mark-out moment was because Kurt Angle is has been my favorit wrestler since I started watching wrestling.

It really made zero sense, and the explanation (From what I read) was really lame.

but Kurt is a champ again, so Im good with it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

In other news, Im going to The Bash tommorrow, and this will be the first time I ever go to a WWE-PPV event, and I am PSYCHED!

HHH Vs. Orton (3 Stages of Hell) --- I prey Orton wins. Im tired of seeing Orton made to look like a chump every time he regains his evil heel status. I actually think he'll keep the title for a bit before HHH climbs the mountain...
Again.
And Again.
And Again.

CM Punk Vs. Jeff Hardy --- CM Punk will win, and possibly go full fledged heel. WWE could keep him tweening for longer and make his full heel snap even more shocking.

ECW Scramble Match --- Tommy Dreamer is just bleh as a industry reward champ. Finlay is old. Mark Henry is in a feud with Bourne. Christian is now on the backburner. Swagger winning could be cheap heat, but I think Dreamer sneaks out with a last second pin to rtain.

Jericho Vs. Mysterio --- Rey's not losing his mask. But I think Jericho will keep his title with a DQ when he realizes he's not going to win.

John Cena Vs. The Miz --- I want Miz to win. However, Miz gets crushed in some 7 minutes after the usuall flurry of Cena offense ending in a 2 second tapout to the STF. ::Groan::

The Colons Vs. Priceless --- Legacy wins, and ends the show with Orton/Priceless posing with all their gold.

Dolph Ziggler Vs. Great Khali (No DQ) --- Ziggler seems to be getting a push of sorts, and I think he'll win after a bunch of chair shots.

Melina Vs. Michelle McCool (Womens Champinoship) --- Uhm...Melina is hot and they're both decent-ish in the ring so I can't complain. I'll assume Melina wins because she's the fan favorite.

Just got back from The Bash Live, so here's some thoughts and notes.

-Arena looked jam packed. 12-13000 people? I have no clue how much the enterance ramp blocks off, but what was available was filled up.
-My seat was in the lower bowl halfway up, almost looking the ramp head on. Right on the aisle. I drew a great seat from TicketMaster!

ECW Title Match: Fun opener to get the crowd into the action. Crowd popped biggest for Finlay actually. This match was fun, but disintegrated into a clusterfluff after Dreamer got the pinfall, and everyone was going for a pin only to be stopped, and repeat until there was an awkward dogpile at the end. As I called, Dreamer sneaks out with his title in the last few minutes.

IC Title Match: Big pop for Rey, of course, but shockingly there was somewhat of a pop for Jericho. He even had a pretty loud "Y2J!" chant going at some point. I think the crowd was 80/20 split for Rey, but to have 20% cheering Jericho who is universally hated was totally unexpected. This match was awesome. From the spots, the all the near falls, the Rey's second mask, to the finish, it was all awesome. I was convinced Rey was losing his mask, and was on the edge of going crazy! But in the end Rey outsmarted Jericho, and his obsession with unmasking Rey cost him his belt. This feud NEEDS to continue.

Dolph Ziggler Vs. Khali: Sadly Dolph got ZERO reaction from the crowd. I think me and one other person in my entire viewable section was clapping and cheering for him. His song rocks though. Khali came out to a better, but still pretty dead reaction. This match was just here. Nothing special. ?Not much reaction going on. When Kane's fire exploded I leaped about a foot in the air as it scared the crap out of me because I wasn't expecting the explosion! lol. Kane didn't get much reaction either, and killed Khali with a chair as Ziggler looked on. Ziggler scampered in to pick the bones and...Again got ZERO reaction.

McMahon tells Teddy Long he's done nothing in FIVE YEARS, and if he was as boring as Teddy, he would have shot himself.
McMahon was pretty funny tonight.
McMahon when not shoved down my throat and given a few segments here and there is always awesome.

Tag Team Title Match: After the first two teams make there way out to little reaction Long comes out and says it's a three way. At this point I ask myself...
"What other tag teams are in the E?"
Edge comes out and I think "NO WAY! EDGE AND CHRISTIAN~"

Then Jericho comes out, and Im still happy.

This match was decent, and pretty funny as each time either Edge or Jericho got in they would INSTANTLY be tagged out by the other team. Multiple times during the match there was a loud "WE WANT CHRISTIAN!~" chant, which Im sure was blocked out of the air-waves.

The crowd popped for the ending which gave us an AWESOME new tag team of Edge and Jericho. I for one can not WAIT to hear their promo's, and I think this is WWE's attempt to make Smackdows greatness migrate to RAW as the tag champs can appear on any show because of their belts.
I expect Edgeicho to be on every Monday and Friday for a good long while.

Women's Championship: This was merch stand, food time, an bathroom break for me. I watched the enterance's and was off. I returned with my Nachos, an empty bladder, and almost bought the new Edge shirt (but decided against it) in time to see Melina get distracted and lose her title to McCool, who much like the rest of the night got little reaction.

World Title Match: I was hoping this would be PHENOMINAL. Sadly it didn't live up to my expections, but was still really good, and this was the loudest the crowd was all night. Hardy got his normal monster pop, and CM came out to a mixed bag. Once the match started, CM got booed. Very very slow start, and not much rythm in this one, though. After the slow start Hardy missed a step assisted Poetry in Motion which started the initial closing sequence. Hardy would hit a Swanton for the "Win" which cause the building to lose it's roof. HUGE Hardy pop, but when the decison was reversed, the crowd TURNED on CM. HUGE HUGE "BULL S***" chant for a good minute, and Hardy gestured the crowd to pump up the volume. PG-WWE had to love it.
The match restarted, and Punk 'hurt his eye' and kicked the ref for a DQ. And the crowd again booed the holy hell out of CM Punk. Hardy retaliated and beat the hell out of him, and the crowd cheered HUGE for Hardy. After they were seperated Punk was escorted out, still selling the eye, to a chorus of loud boos, while Hardy lamented the decision in the ring. He departed to another HUGE "HARDY! HARDY!" chant.

That right there was the moment of the night.
The match may had just been okay, but the story and the guys involved put it over the top.
Great work from the two!

Cena KILLS Miz: Rant coming. Skip if you care to...

And this is the sole reason why I HATE John Cena. Read my prediction from the last post.
Okay>?
What did I predict?

John Cena Vs. The Miz --- I want Miz to win. However, Miz gets crushed in some 7 minutes after the usuall flurry of Cena offense ending in a 2 second tapout to the STF. ::Groan::
And what happened?
Cena squashed Miz after an initial Miz flurry then 3 shoulder blocks, a swinging back suplex, a five knuckle shuffle, a FU, and a STFU for the two second tap.

It's not Cena's fault he's booked like this, but still... I hate John Cena. He completly BERRIED Miz tonight. Miz had two months of heat for bashing the fan favorite. He was actually getting real heat from this! Tonight Cena no sold EVERYTHING. Kick to the chest? Ill just laugh and clothesline you. 2 minutes of offense? Na, Ill just shoulder block you ang magically be cured and hit every move I have in succession with NO resistance to SQUASH you off. And wait, after making you look like that no-name regional jobber that appeared on ECW last week, Im going to kick dirt over your BERRIED body.
Have fun in future Endeavor Land, peon.

Hell, Miz looking DECENT would have been a good outcome. I just don;t get the point of a two month build only to be completly and utterly squashed.

I hate John Cena.

/End Rant.

WWE Title: Crowd popped for HHH, but it soon went south. The feeling in the arena was one of boredom. We have ALL seen something like this for the past how long?

HHH eventually ended up getting some boos during the stretcher match, but more or lesss the crowd was pretty dead.

Orton won, but of course Orton looking good is BAD, so H had to come back and layy him out with sledgy.

HHH stands tall, as Orton looks horribly weak and pathetic even in victory. And this feud must continue. Again.
And Again.
And Again.

I can't wait until Batista is re-put into this group.
We havent seen that yet.

In conclusion, this was a sub-mediocre show.

Y2J/Mysterio and Punk/Hardy were the clear matches of the night, and the crowd responded appropriatly.

Everything else was not the great, and the crowd sat upon their hands.

Pops of the night:
1: Jeff Hardy
2: John Cena :Gag:
3: Mysterio
4: HHH (Enterance Only)

Heat of the night:
1: CM Punk (Post match)
2: Orton
3: Jericho

I'm late in responding to your last post, but I have four general comments:

1. I still like John Cena. **** Miz.

2. For the most part, I like women's wrestling more than I like the men these days, mostly because I don't like seeing the same old guard and/or guys that I think are undeserving douches (Edge/Orton/Jeff Hardy/HHH/Legacy in WWE, Angle/Nash/Booker/Steiner/Dudleys in TNA) on top. Still, I'm holding out hope that either WWE or TNA will sign more women from Shimmer, because females like Layla and Alicia Fox.

3. Bring back tag team wrestling, goddammit!

4. The notion of Hardy of being the favorite against CM Punk reminds me of everything I hated about the Attitude era, and reminded me of why I was one of the few people I knew who didn't like the Stone Cold character.

I think I read WWE signed Serena Deeb from SHIMMER?
Now push Gail Kim and get a good women's division!

Word.
Not everyone needs to be a singles star, and a tag team could help elevate people stuck in the midcard purgatory, see Miz (sort of?) and Morrison.

4. The notion of Hardy of being the favorite against CM Punk reminds me of everything I hated about the Attitude era, and reminded me of why I was one of the few people I knew who didn't like the Stone Cold character.
Im a Hardy fan, but the way they're booking CM Punk is freaking awesome. Everyone knows Jeff is the screwup yet they still love him despite the honest good guy getting booed out of the building.

I love what they're doing with CM Punk!

And, I was right with you. I hated Stone Cold.
From the beer, to the "WHAT!?", to the middle fingers, to the stunner I couldn't stand anything about him.

Night of Champions tonight.

Yet another HHH/Orton variation with Cena thrown in... I actually want Cena to win to change things up. Instead of watching Orton(c) Vs. HHH Vs. Cena we can see... Cena(c) Vs. HHH Vs. Orton!!! I can't wait.

CM Punk shouldn't lose the way he's being built up. And Hardy still may not have a new contract.

Jericho's new tag partner...The Undertaker in his American Badass form, who Last Rides Jericho quickly to give the titles to Legacy and sets up a potentially GREAT Jericho/Undertaker feud for SummerSlam and beyond.

Mysterio should beat Ziggler, but the Zig should look good, be elevated and have and win a rematch on a bigger stage, SummerSlam.

The US title match is going to be a 7 minute fast paced match, almost to the point of being a mess. Lots of finishers, and I think Swagger sneaks out as the All American American US Champion!

ECW Title...I want Christian to win. I think Tommy wins by DQ of some sort when Kozlov interferes.

Womens Title...McCool retains.
Divas Title...Mickie wins. Gail Kim needs to be in contention. And where in the world did Beth Phoenix go??

The Observer is reporting that Beth and her husband are expecting their first child, and that Beth is expected to be gone for at least a year, possibly longer. In fact, it's apparently not known whether or not she intends to return at all.
