The Summer Scoop - August 3, 2005

So, you think Petrie is just sitting back in his office hoping the phone might ring? Hmm, interesting. I would certainly hope he is being a bit more pro-active. He may be more actively trying to work deals with his 'flexible' new pieces, but if that isn't working, he ought to have a Plan B..

Petrie ALWAYS says that, BTW. It makes NO sense for him to make it in any way public that he is 'shopping' anyone. It's bad for player moral if things fall through, and Petrie likes to work his magic in the quiet of the shadows. I wouldn't, and don't, put any stock in either Blankenships assertations or Petries protestations, because I know if the right deal comes along Petrie will pull the trigger.

I think the piece was saying not to expect any MAJOR trades to go down. Not that he is not actively pursuing any deals, just not deals involving star players (the writer must've seen all the desperate plea's to land KG on this board :D)

We already know that the next plan of attack is to land some lengthy, athletic 4 or 5's. So I think it is rather safe to say that Petrie isn't merely sitting around waiting for the phone to ring. The article also mentioned that the Kings are busy looking at FA's and working some players out to add size to the team. I wonder who?

STK - The "article" as you keep referring to it is a mere fluff piece written by an employee of the Kings. It isn't going to say much of anything and it does it quite well.

The Kings are looking at free agents and working some players out? WHOA! Stop the presses!!! You do realize you could put ANY team name into that sentence and it would be just as valid, right?

;)

I agree.
