I thought the answer was going to be that Avery Johnson is a defensive genius as a coach.

We all know Rick would have kept Bibby and Miller in for those free throws instead of using Hart and Sampson, and the resulting lack of defensive presence and game planning on Rick's part would have caused us to lose
