Yeah, I agree 100%, but there's always hope that they like Cousins more. Either way I can't complain considering what a heart break it was on lottery night.

The Kings don't play the Princeton anymore!!!!!
There's something wrong with a big if the best thing someone has to say about him is that he's a good passer. That's a nice luxury to have out of a big, but when it's what he hangs his hat on, no thanks.

I never said they DID! I only pointed out that Petrie is (was) a fan of big men who could pass the ball. You know, Vlade, Webber, even Miller. Bigs who had game AND could pass the ball too. If all Monroe can do is pass, then the Kings should pass on him as well. Besides, Cousins is by all accounts going to be available at 5, and if so I dont see Petrie passing on Cousins just to get a big man that passes. Notice I prefaced the Monroe pick with the caveat that Petrie had to believe he would be a allstar caliber player AND that Petrie believes that Monroe's talents outweighed Cousin's physical ability and possible red flags. Petrie has shocked us before and could very well shock us again. I trust Petrie and I believe that whomever he selects will be a good player for the Kings.
And I am a big fan of the direction the team has been going. I think getting rid of Hawes was a good idea as he has probably already realized his potential. The Kings have certainly moved in a toughness direction that I think we all like. A blue collar team to fit the blue collar town they play in. I think Dalembert will fit that mold. He is a good defensive center who can actually guard the rim and play some goalie. Something the Kings haven't had in quite a while. If the Kings DO get Cousins, I think team toughness will go up significantly. Cousins, Thompson, and Landry is a pretty tough front line. And it would be a very tall front line as well. I guess we will see tomorrow what direction Petrie the genius is taking our ballclub.
I was disappointed last year when they ended up with the 4th (and worst possible) pick after having the worst record the year before. But that turned out pretty good for the Kings after all! Evans was a great draft pick and I am sure that even the Clippers are thinking twice about their selection in that draft, I KNOW that OKC and Memphis are KICKING THEMSELVES! That is just another feather in Geoff Petrie's Draft Hat. I TRULY believe that Petrie will find a player that most fits the Kings Needs AND selects a player that will surprise other GM's by how good the player turns out to be. At #5 Petrie may be able to draft a potential future ALL Star player!
That is certainly Geoff's strongest talent as a General Manager. He has an incredible eye for young talent. I believe he is the best young talent evaluator in the NBA. And he seems to be able to project a player's potential accurately enough to avoid the pitfalls that other GM's fall into. Rubio was a TOTAL pitfall that Geoff was able to avoid. Now Geoff has an even BIGGER draft selection to make this year. If he hits a home run with this pick, the Kings could not only return to respectability, they could become a playoff team with the free agent money that they are amassing to spend. When the Kings are competitive again, Free Agents are more likely to want to come to Sacramento. I know the Kings will probably wait till after the new CBA is negotiated in order to make the most of the cap space they are making, but I know that Petrie and the Maloofs want to build a winner! I just want to see the Kings make it back to where they make the playoffs every year and contend with the western conference teams. I fell like those days are coming soon! GO KINGS!! Good LUCK GEOFF !!
I think the more that they would be drafting Cousins if Al Jefferson is gone.with minn actively shopping Al i see them taking favors.

Did I see somebody wrote Cousins is a bigger and healthier version of Al Jefferson?![]()

Agreed. Hawes is a better passer than Monroe. It wouldn't make sense that they would draft a passing big man when they let a better passing big man go. Hawes is longer, a better passer, and at just as "tough" as Monroe. Taking Monroe would make no sense on so many different levels. I'm not that gung ho on Cousins, but I'd take a 13 year old in a 19 year old man's body over Monroe.
