The Light at the End of the Tunnel – Looking Ahead to the Draft

UGH. Please god no. We need a PG or PF. This is a draft filled with each. We have no need for a SF. If we leave a glaring hole at PG or PF for another year then that's just inexcusable.

BPA that isn't a SG. IMO Batum is a potential 2 way all-star in the mold of Grant Hill (facilitate, score, and defend) and has good leadership qualities. Artest shouldn't be in this team's future. So if we're deciding between Batum and someone like Ibaka, I take Batum just on the shere talent superiority. I wouldn't exactly say this draft is filled with PF's or at least ones that fit our needs.

It'll be interesting to see how the hype surrounding this trio changes once they have some games against college competition under their belt. Kevin Love is another name to watch. Some Pac-10 sources have told me they fear he is the second coming of Elton Brand. We'll see about that, but...

My disclaimer is that I've seen Kevin Love play once, in the McDonald's High School All-American team. That said, what a player! He has great hands. EXCELLENT passer. Best outlet passer I've seen since Walton. Shoots the 3 in college. Good post up game. Very good rebounder from what I could see, and from I've heard through the UCLA grapevine through their practices. And because he wanted to shore up his defense, he went to UCLA. I call that smart. From all accounts, he's a tough sob. UCLA practices are brutal and he's getting rave reviews from the players. Oh, the one "bad" thing about the guy is that he's white, so I will expect the big white stiff comment to come out of the woodwork. This kid is a winner.

That would be amazing. I like Rose alot but a Beasley/Collison combo would be a win/win. The Knicks could be a team to get us another pick.

I'm not sold on Collison because of his unorthodox shooting motion, which doesn't doesn't easily allow him to get outside shots off the dribble.

Thats true but how much scoring would he have to do with hypothetically with Beasley and Martin on the floor?

Good point. He's a very good player. He's a total, total winner. He really wants to win a national championship and he's willing to sacrifice his game to do it. I think it all depends on where you pick him and what other players are on the board.

Exactly, you need those types of players for a championship team. I would pick him in 10 to 15 range easy.

Damn Bayless just put up 20/9/9!!! If he continues to play like that my opinion that he might be too much of a combo guard will change quickly. But I think I'd take him also depending on where we end up, if we don't get a top 4 pick for one of Rose/Beasley and there isn't really a PF we like.
