The Irony of All Ironies... if it happens (Magliore trade) (merged)

The thing with Skinner is you know what your going to get. A thoughfull hard working undersized center who can give you 20 min or more a game and will play through injuries. Which is good beceause he will have minor injuries through out the season. He is not going to show up out of shape, with a bad attitude or grumble from the bench. Not worh a lot but a good guy to round out a set line up.

Villanueva I think would be starting or getting good minutes regardless if Magloire was there. It's Bogut at center they want to get more time and want focus on, as he'll start too, but if Magloire was still there they'd need to cater to him somehow.

theres some more irony for you..... that was on that website... :D

Who says we want Magloire in the first place? I do however think that is a steal for the Blazers if true and it shows that there wasn't much that teams were willing to give up for him.

Now that I think about it, why would Portland even want Magliore when they just re-signed Przybilla?

And just traded for Lafrentz. And drafted Aldridge. And still have Randolph. That 4-5 rotation is pretty crowded.

I was thinking maybe for cap room next year, but they are all free agents after this upcoming season. So that probably isn't it...

we're competing on Magloire and could have very well offered the same Skinner + Hart + Sampson (or other fillers - Price/Williamson)
Except that Blake actually has some trade value unlike Hart. He isn't the filler in this deal.

I think if you can get someone like Magloire for three scrubs you just do it and figure out what to do with him later.

I wouldn't call Brian a scrub. The Bucks know what he is capable of and its not all that much less than what Magloire can do.

Still a very bad deal that really does nothing for the Bucks.

Kings fans have a really inflated sense of Brian Skinner. He had a few good games after the Webber trade, but he was mediocre at best last season and didn't really do much for Portland except, of course, for his game against the Kings.

I agree it doesn't do a whole lot for the Bucks, but at least they get a somewhat decent backup point guard.

Trading Magliore for a backup PG and backup PF + a scrub? That's impressive.

For Portland though -- yes they have Priz, but when you can get size (and remember they traded Ratliff) more or less for free, you take it. they've got great length at those 4/5 spots now wiht Przy/Mags/Aldrige/LaFrentz -- all 6'11"+. Throw in Miles at SF and if nothign else its one of the biggest frontlines in the NBA. Only guy who doesn't really fit is Randolph.

Look at his stats when he was the starting C for the Bucks. Not too shabby, and not much less than Magloire gives them.

And I don't think its fair at all to judge Brian Skinner from his experience as a King last year.

Magloire didn't fit into the Bucks system. He also wasn't a main focus or main option there, as Bogut/Redd/Ford/Mo Williams/Simmons were all ahead of him. Specifically Bogut, being the #1 pick, and the prospect he is.

With the Hornets, it was indeed different.

That was three years ago.

And he really wasn't very good with the Blazers. He was about the same as he was with the Kings -- every third game or so he looked good, the rest of the time he was bad.

Skinner's a decent big man, but I think he lacks that intensity/energy/drive/passion in his game. He was very good for us when he first came in, but dropped off of course when he injured his thumbs and later sprained foot. Then, Adelman was just ignorant to him for most of his time with us.

Magloire Traded

I got word the Bucks have verbally agreed to deal him to the Blazers for Steve Blake, Brian Skinner & Ha Seung-Jin.

It's the same as the rumored deal was...but...it seems as it will clear Monday with the league barring a failed physical and it will be done, again, barring something screwy.

We could have offered Hart and Skinner had we kept him :(

It's not as if they're in need of another PG.

And Hart's more of an expiring deal by 800K then Blake is

*sigh*

I'm sure we tried, as was reported... obviously was a better offer because of Skinner and Blake.

Oh well.
