The DeMarcus Cousins drama continues.... not really though

Sounds like a bunch of excuses. It's what makes our world go around these days though, right? Nobody takes responsibility for anything. We don't even hold our beloved athletes accountable anymore!

Did you forget about the Sean Elliot confrontation last year? Of course you did!

I did because Sean Elliot doesn't mean **** to the success of this franchise. Yeah let's keep Sean Elliot but trade DMC cause they got in a fight.

Well if you knew the history today then you would understand what my point was. He is obviously trying to elicit a response from me.

I wasn't trying to elicit a response from you.

In fact I'm actively trying to trade you because of your lack of leadership skills. Haven't you seen the rumors?

Oh you sweet little innocent persecuted martyr angel bringing us all the truth because you are the only one objective enough to see it. BARF. People act like you are Dr. Evil because your posts are inflammatory and your personality is distasteful. If you calmly and "objectively" presented your opinions, Dr. Evil perception there not would be.

Be careful. VF21 might give you an infraction for this type of abuse! Inflammatory and distasteful huh? Why, because I disagree with you?

NO!!!!!!!!!

Don't you get it? How many times do we have to tell you?? It is definitely NOT simply because you have a different opinion, although you can't seem to let that go. It's because you are inflammatory and distasteful. Comparing me to North Korea and Iran is one example.

For you to claim that it's simply because I disagree with you, you'd have to prove that I find everybody who simply disagrees with me inflammatory and distasteful. I'll give you some time to gather your data.

You'd also have to not be able to find any examples where people have disagreed with me and I didn't find them inflammatory and distasteful.

This is called "being objective".

*drops the mic*

OH! You sound extremely insecure.

Exactly.

One great quality of Demarcus' that sometimes gets overlooked is loyalty. He is an extremely loyal individual, and will be loyal to us because we are the ones who enthusiastically drafted him and showed great joy in doing so and in welcoming him. I believe it's part of his make up that he will return that trust and repay it many times over, as a way to show up all the teams that passed on him. I believe that this is partly how he defines his self worth: how much he can contribute to something: a team, an organization, a city. He wants to do all of that so badly. It's surprising to me that some people miss this. I believe that is a huge part of what motivates him. Other, more "narrow-minded" people, may see the whining at refs and begin to think he's not a moral person (a "cancer"... really?). I believe he is a highly moral and principled person (look at how he treats children), but that his personal value system was violated by the previous regime (wasn't all of ours?), and it's that clash with his principles that was causing a lot of the friction. Cousins IS a high character individual. Emotional, yes, but absolutely a high character, principled person with morals. Put that kind of person in a situation with strong, principled leadership (think Malone would be good), and there's where we have our winning recipe. We are incredibly lucky to have him.

Nailed it!

If one was to use 'good values' as a criteria for supporting elite athletes, one would not have any athletes to support.

eg- Lance Armstrong, Marion Jones, Oscar Pistorius, Tiger Woods, etc. All once considered high character individuals.

As said by Brooks Johnson, former sprinter turned top track coach

That was the day I loss my conceptual and idealogical virginity and virtue as far as what elite athletes and coaches are made of. People who are willing to go to extreme ends to achieve extreme objectives have to have extreme needs they need to compensate and overcompensate for. This has been a constant fact of life as I have empirically observed elite athletes and elite athletics.

When I made this point earlier in the conversation to Cubie, he said.

Yeah,…I know. But I keep hoping that I will find that one exception.

Yeah, like the quest for the holy grail.

Unfortunately, many many years ago, Eve ate an apple and was kicked out of paradise. The human condition has plagued us ever since.

I live in rural Kentucky. Before the School year ended, he came to my daughter's school. He didn't have to come out to the sticks but he did. And in the posters that sponsors provided, he wore a Sacramento Kings shirt. What a person does in the quiet says more about that person than what is seen in the light and this was done in the quiet.
