The Clan of Lowered Expectations

Geez, talk about jumping off the bandwagon. It's absolute carnage out there. Only 18 games in and the wagon is empty.
It's not nearly as bad as you think. For every one who jumps off, there are several who get overlooked because they're too drunk to stay in an upright position. Which, if you've watched some of the recent games, is understandable.

Not off the bandwagon, just lying down for a little while. ;)

Now that made me laugh.:p ;)

I'm with you, Rumpled.

I've been a season ticket holder since day one, and my enthusiasm is almost as low as it was during the Marty Conlon era. But then I look to the east and see the Celtics, 76ers, etc. The difference is I still don't know what we have, but I've got a pretty good idea they're not going to improve appreciably. I lkeep looking for positives, but I can't seem to stay awake long enough to find them. Boring is the one thing I wasn't expecting this year.

If they got healthy and settled into a coaching system there might be just enough talent on this team to sneak into the second round of playoffs. Maybe. But this team isn't deep enough to _not_ suck with injuries to starters. In the good days we had quality backups at many positions and didn't do badly when it was BJax or Hedo or (even) Pollard starting. So if its going to be another one of those injurious years I'll just relax and try to look on the bright side. Like KMartin's progress being helped by stepping up to a main role. And the team's still there, so at least I get those extra my21 news10 games, though there haven't been many. Having a game on still makes beer taste better even when the team is bad. Plus we could do the spurs thing and get a top pick because of injuries and end up with something special.

Yeah, this is a good thread, I can never get into those chicken little threads. :) Why worry, this team is only playing for the chance to get smoked in the first round by Spurs Suns Mavs etc. I'd almost jump on the 22 win bandwagon but it'd be too rude to openly hope Muss sucks so bad that we get Greg Oden. Real fans can't actually hope their guys stink or stay injured of course, I'll still be mad and probably curse watching a loss every time. But the glass is still half full and we could get healthy or make a move. Hey there's an idea, instead of taxing everyone why not an arena bill that just taxes the beer. Those work every time because beer drinkers are apathetic non-voting types (I should know) plus they're more likely to be watching the game. And what are we going to do, not drink beer because it costs an extra 50 cents?

Its like some fans have a sense of entitlement I guess, that I don't really share. The team ain't so hot right now, but those are just the breaks. I truly believe the Maloofs really want to win one and that Geoff P does a better job than most GMs. I also think Muss can be a good coach. They're just all having a bad shooting night right now. A lot can go wrong when you're drafting the 26th pick or trying to sign a cheap useful veteran. Or trying to coach half of an average team.

You underestimate other people. And you better be careful because
"they" might not appreciate you saying they aren't "real fans" even though I agree with you.

Huh, weird, it never occurred to me that "Real fans can't actually hope their guys stink or stay injured" could be offensive to anyone. Maybe I overestimate people.

It's actually sad reading this thread especially coming from you VF21 cause you're such a passionate fan and all :(
Obviously, you didn't read my initial post. If you had, you wouldn't be making that kind of comment.

Note: I deleted a couple of posts about a possible player acquisition because it's being talked about quite widely in the Possible Moves forum.

This thread was started to make it clear that despite the present problems, I still love this team and I was inviting others to join me in rooting for them even though it's becoming painfully obvious that they just aren't that good right now.
