Brick, thanks for pointing that out. Memory fades sometimes (or in my case, completely disappears - or worse, I fabricate new things that I thought happened!). I thought he was the one that had a total meltdown in confidence and skills when he got traded to us. But I trust your memory much more than mine.
Well remembering Hopson with fondness might be something entirely restricted to me.
I think he was just such a bad bust as a #3 pick (think it was #3) that nobody was willing to give him a chance. He was seen as a failure, and that was just that regardless of performance. But I don't know, he really seemed to be a good 6th man for us that year. Then we apparently just let him walk (given our lunacy at that time, that doesn't mean much), and the rest of the league was done wiht him too (that's the part I can't really explain unless he was a real cancer or some such -- may have been. That was pre-internet, so sometimes it was harder to figure out stuff like that.)
