Kings' opening deals Porter new option

The former Blazers guard, who is interested in buying the team, is a candidate to coach in Sacramento

Former Trail Blazers guard Terry Porter has emerged as a potential candidate to coach the Sacramento Kings, but it is unclear how that will affect his work with an investor group trying to buy the Blazers franchise.
Porter, whose name has been mentioned in news reports as a possible successor to Rick Adelman in Sacramento, said Wednesday that he will know better in a week "what path I will be able to continue on." He declined to comment specifically on the Kings' opening.
Porter, who played for the Blazers for 10 years, spent the 2002-03 season as an assistant coach under Adelman in Sacramento. He was hired as head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks in 2003 but was fired at the end of the 2004-05

I wasn't able to keep listening to it, but the Rise Guys were saying something about the fact that you could pretty much cross Porter off the list. Again, I don't know why, but that's the message I got.

The question is does he want to be a co-owner of the Trailblazers more, or does he want to coach more. I'm guessing he wants to be a co-owner of a team more. You can't coach one team, and have interest in another. That's a HUGE conflict of interests.

One of the Bee reporters seems to think Porter is unlikely, too. Something about the Maloofs not being fond of him. Certainly they know him.

The only two teams Porter coached were quite bad defensively and neither was +.500. I think he might be a good young coach, but you are certainly really reaching if you think you are going to bring Terry Porter in with that kind of record and have him outperform Adelman.
