Tanking or rebuilding?

I've got a fantastic tax account for you. He's amazing with tax law. The only teency weency problem is that he'll go on a bender every now and again. If you get him when he's "right" he can do some great stuff for you. But if you have an IRS audit and he's "wrong", we'll, it could be a problem...

I've tried to stay out of this (and Padrino certainly doesn't need my help) but your argument has dissolved to the point where it's actually more humor than anything else.

Hi guys!
We need absolutely to tank. Assuming Bucks, 76ers and (most probably) Magic will finish at the bottom, we need to "fight" for the worst place to reach a possible top3 pick next draft.
We have to start from this "est-trip" (@Tor, @Nets, @Det, @Phila in b2b, @Bulls with at most a 1-4 W/L score) and then @Minnie hopin' for a L. We "have to do this" 'cause the others team are dramatically tanking.
Boston (20-41) got a not irresistible rest of schedule (They have only 3 prohibited game against Pacers, Dallas in b2b and Miami) but at the sime time they'll faces a lot of team in competitions for the best Est PO's position, so they really risk to end season under 27/28L.
On the West we got the Fakers and the Jazz with the same record (21-40).
Both teams have a middle-hard schedule (maybe the Fakers' one is harder then the Jazz's).
Fakers: Clips (2x), Okc(2x), Spurs (3x), and Portland. Almost certainly all L. Fakers have only 2 easy games vs Magic and @Bucks. The 11 remaining games are:
- 7 @Staples Center (Wash, Knicks, Suns, Dallas, Houston, Warriors and Memphis, so i hope thath Fakers could win at least 3 of these)
-4 road (Denver in b2b, Minni, Kings and Utah)
Jazz's schedule:
-hard games (Clips. @Spurs, @Hou b2b, @Okc, @Warriors and vs Portland)
-easy g. (@Phila but in b2b..., Magic and Detroit)
Remaining games are 7/12 @home.
What do you think about? Will they end before us?
We also take a look at NOLA that have a 1-5 protected pick next draft, right?

Cheers from Italy :)

Malone would die first before he was to tank. If Kings win tonight then they could likely go 4-3 on this roadie. Right now they have a majority of pieces plus one in the draft then summer league and a clever trade or two to "build" to the next step, sniffing at the bottom of the playoffs next year then a major move up in year 3 of the Malone era. Tanking only gets you a different higher up draft choice, nothing else. And the effort of tanking will kill any enthusiasm most FA's would have considered that team. No, showing the world progress and a growing threat is what the Kings need to get a higher quality of FA to fill in the roles that need to be played.

ye, your philosophy is correct.
-I didn't want to say "we have to tank" like the 76ers (a "pure" form of tanking, no doubt. I don't want this) but "tank" as "trying to fight everynight in every game with the result that at end we get more L than W". That's all (I hope you understand, and i apologize for my english).

-The consequence of tanking will kill our possibility to sing a good/great FA over the next year/years?
Well, this season Kings should have demonstrated that with a "true coach" as Malone, with a real staff and a real organization, they can beat any team (just think at the games with the Heat, or the "stolen" games by the Clips).
So i think that we need the best possible addition the our roster (a Jabari worth more than a #8/#9 pick also for the FA's appreciation/consideration of the Kings)

A question:
Do you prefer Gay over JParker? When Kings could try to extend Rudy's contract (Pre-draft? During the FA, or before the start of the next season?)?
Anyway an hypothetical "small ball" situation with Gay #3, Parker#4, Cuz #5 is so impossible to have it? Considering in bench we have JT, Landry and Evans...

I agree with you about the target of this team: a strong 14/15 season, maybe a GREAT 2015 FA signed, then move up and fight for something special in Malone's year 3.

You didn't ask me, but I'll give you my opinion. If it's your turn to pick, and Parker is the best player available, and there aren't many I would take over him, you take Parker, regardless of Gay. If nothing else, Parker is good insurance against Gay deciding to leave. Having Danny Granger on the roster didn't stop the Pacers from drafting Paul George. That worked out just fine for them. You never ever pass up good talent.

Below average shooter, who doesn't pass or can't defend real PFs? Let's get one of those and slot him between Rudy and Boogie? Fortunately, Geoff is somewhere on permanent vacation...

At this point, I don't care any more. Whatever happens, happens.

I'm tired of seeing Kings fans call each other out on stupid crap. I'm tired of seeing rational people make irrational statements for or against players that most likely would never see major minutes on decent teams. I'm tired of looking for reasons to forgive errors that no player over the age of 6 should ever make. I'm tired of trying to justify what is looking more and more like the yucky stuff that's left in the pan after the corned beef and cabbage dinner has been dished out. I'm tired of the 2013-14 NBA season.

I may just take a really long nap.

Whether we are tanking or rebuilding we should be giving Ray McCallum more minutes than Isaiah Thomas. It's probably better for both. Well, maybe (we all saw what Tank commander Thomas did in crunch time of the last 2 close games)

mmmmm. corned beef and cabbage. sounds like someone was being festive tonight! (in an Irish way, not a Kings way. the Kings stuff was decidedly (rightfully) un-festive.)

also, parentheses!
