Survivor - Cook Islands

I don't know...that seemed like a pretty dumb move. No reason to do that whatsoever. We're talking about a million dollars here...can't you keep an annoying guy around for a few more days?

I would have kept him around simply because there's no way the jury would have given him the $$$ over anyone else left. These aren't the smartest people to ever play the game...

Exactly...he was the PERFECT person to take to the final two. I just don't get it.

That's because your IQ, dear D-Mass, is probably more than the combined IQ of at least 3 of the remaining castaways. They're not very smart and they have the strategic acumen of a tree frog.

I loved that they were hiding coconuts and stuff, tossing them into the woods and then "the others" came back with all kinds of food to share.

Whoops.

I COMPLETELY disagree.

the reason that he had to go was exactly BECAUSE what you said: He is the one player that EVERYONE would would want to take to the final two. THerefore, if Yul (or any other of the foursome) tried to argue too hard to bring him along, the rest of the foursome would start to think that the alliance is going to break up... None of them could advocate on Jonathon's behalf too hard because it is OBVIOUS that he makes a better final 2 opponent than whomever the potential advocater is trying to convince. THat would advocator's position in the alliance.

he was TOO obvious of a choice.

Haven't posted in this thread in a while...

This survivor up until know has been IMO one of the better survivors to date. However unless OZZY turns, I see this as ending in boring fashion.

Someone has to get him to realize that A) he has to win every challenge to have a chance or b)Turn against yul and becky.

I always wonder if people are more afraid of playing the game or are out there to make friends. I don't see Sundra turning but she should align herself with Adam/Oz and take out YUL. Trying to work on the numbers here, I think the IDOL is no longer in play right?

Either way one show left so at least the last part won't be drawn out.

Still wonder what the Jury "twist" will be with an even number on it.

I am rooting for Ozzy

Couple other notes on the season,

No Jinx car giveaway?
They did not do that pecking order type challenge... where the players basically show their alliances by the order they knock people out. Not sure it was needed in this season tho.

i would have LOVED a pecking challenge right before candice got the vote. i think ozzy might have flipped once he found out he was at the dead bottom of his alliance.

winner tommorrow, i think it's ozzy to be honest

yul has been making some very shaky moves and over playing. he's too adamant on shoving the fact that he wants to be the honest guy in everyones face. we get it, shut up about it!

the whole hat thing really was bad for him IMO. yes, we know it's a nice thing to do, but to annouce how you want to appease feelings for blindsiding jonathan, that was a DUMB thing to say. of course he's feeling that way, hell yah i'd be trying to bribe jonathan's vote back by doing a nice thing, but to annouce it? thats stupid. he should have just said " he wanted his hat back so i gave it back" end of sentence.

yul being the "puppet master" could also be his downfall. keep in mind most of the raro tribe played an emotional game rather then a rational game. i can see jonathan and candice resopecting yul's masterminding, but emotional votes like nate, parvatti, adam* ( true he hasn't been voted out, but i have a feeling he's TOAST if he doesn't win the final 5 immunity and will be on the jury) possibly candice ( she seems like a rational player, but she did make some emotional votes out there, so i'm not sure if she would vote emotional or rationally) the raro's might hold yul's masterminding against him. take previous seasons: boston rob ran the show in all stars but lost the game. yul hasn't been as abrasive as boston rob was, but he the emphasis he's put on being honest has been overbearing. and he hasn't been completly honest. he told jonathan he wanted to take him to the final 2, then he votes him out? inconsistancy.

antoehr possible downfall for yul could be the idol. with a final 3 this season and the fact that the idol is good THROUGH the final 4, that effectively gave him a free ride to the finals. a smart juror would point that out, and hopefully someone does and hold it agianst him. thats way too much power to have, and someone shouldn't win a million dollars because they got to cake walk to the finals. more food for thought. 2 seasons with an immunity idol: both times the finder lost the game. neither even made it to he finals ( i suspect the finals trend gets broken, i'm hoping the finders trend stays true)

all in all, there is a very strong chance he'll win, but the writing is on the wall of a possible loss in the finals.

ozzy, he's been laid back. he hasn't rub many people the wrong way ( jonathan and candice are the only i can really think of) he's letting yul take the heat while sitting back. he OWNS the challenges. his downfall might be hils lack of social game. he hasn't had too too much of a strategy game, but he's been in the post merge majority alliance, and has won most of the IC's. some juror's might not respect that, we shall see. he's stayed under the radar. we'll have to see

if ozzy and yul aren't both in the finals, that would be horrible. there is no way 2 of the other 3 ( adam, becky, sundra) deserve it. it would be a landslice to whoever faced 2 of them, palau all over again....

so GO OZZY!

and yes i have way too much time on my hands.... :D

I've only watched, I think, 3-4 seasons of the series, for various reasons I have missed the others, but this one and the first one have been my favorites. How many Survivor seasons is this now.. 10ish?

And possibly the best ever, despite all the early protests about the race issue.

:)

i am beyond pissed off right now....

yul got to CAKE WALK himself into the finals by finding a POS piece of metal.....

i was REALLY gunning for ozzy. yul doiesn't need the cash! he makes half that a year! freaking A, i swear out of all the seasons i've watching surivor, the person i have rooted for has won only 5 times ( out of 13 seasons) ( ethan, brian ( i hated clay) sandra, danni and aras) the rest of the winners have sucked! this season is no different

i am pissed!

LOL at becky! coattail rider got her due. 0 votes OUCH!

Oh come on, Evenstar. Let's be honest, okay? You wanted Ozzie to win because you thought he was hot.

:p

Yul played the game to perfection. Had he not, he could have been forced to use the immunity medallion right at the beginning...

And it's not about needing the cash anyway. It's about playing the game...

I'm torn...and a bit surprised. I wanted Yul to win from the beginning, but after watching Ozzie for the last few weeks, I have to admit that my views shifted. I found myself rooting for him. I'm not pleased or disappointed either way...sort of neutral on the whole thing.

oh heavens no. EW! ozzie did have a nice bod, but hot? not just no, thats a hell no. i thought yul was hotter if you must ask. this was a rough season for me men wise... nice bods bad faces... ok i sound like the shallowest person in the world..... :D hey its a game show, i'll root how i want to ;)

i think ozzy overcame a LOT more then yul did. his entire latino tribe was voted out before the merge. he was CONSTANTLY on the outs at aitu. after flicka left, if they lost a challenge, ozzy was TOAST. the mutiny really helped keep him in the game. his aitu alliance helped him move along, but he was always on the bottom of that alliance. had he not won immunity in the final 5 and 4 challenges, he was gone. easy money. not to mention his challenge prowess, his role as a provider. he was the true underdog the entire season, and i had hoped he could have pulled it out.

yul had the idol going for him. BIG WOW. i'm sorry, but finding an object that allows you to make the FINALS is crap. the producers really blew that one, the idol should have lost it's power in the final 5 if they were going to make it a final 3. no one should be able to make it into the finals based on finding the idol, thats unfair because not everyone in the game was given the opportunity to find the idol. had they done the idol guatamela style where they hide it in the jungle, i would go along with that. this way? uh NO.

fiji looks like it'll be an intresting season. i just hope 90% of the cast isn't recruited again, because this cast had some DUDS in it. i don't care what color they are, just make sure they are intresting personalities! i can't wait to see what " the most controversial decision a survivor has ever made" is

jonathan, cowboy, and nathan were gems. parvati had her moments, adam did as well, but those 3 were golden each and every time they were on camera. ozzy was great for the challenges, it's a shame he didn't have a better personality. he was sure fun to watch when he was owning the challenges :D

pissed, but eh what am i going to do about it. well san mateo gets some fame. damn, now i wish i still lived there.... yul went to costco and bought a crap load of food... i know that costco! argh... i just had to move at the wrong time LOL!

bring on fiji!

I think you're missing a key point - Yul never actually used the immunity medallion/token/whatever. He found it but was able to use the mere possession of it to influence outcomes. That's strategic.

I just realized something - I don't think you and I (two of the most vocal Survivor fans around here) have ever actually agreed on who we thought played the best, have we?

So are you still going to try out? I do hereby promise and solemnly swear that if you do, I will totally support you - unless you do something really dumb.

:p

Alright just finished,

First off, again I must say this was by far one of the best if not best season ever.

Think Jeff was right, both yul and ozzie both earned it. Becky didn't, especially after not being able to build the fire. That was pretty amazing and showed that they (sandru and becky) were riding coat tails. I mean what did they really do? Anyway.

Next season already looks interesting. I like the concept of tribes where one gets everything and the other has to do it survivor style. They mentioned something about diversity, hinting at wealth. I am assuming they will mix the tribes up based on that.

Anyway great season, cannot wait for the next to start.

i feel like yul didn't have to play as hard because he had that as a fall back. he probably didn't give it his all at the challenges ( individual that is. i'm sure he was in the post mutiny aitu)

ozzy did a hell of a lot more around camp, he fed EVERYONE. becky gained weight! insanity. he did say on survivor live that he thought maybe that was why he lost, because he spent more time fishing and less time politicing ( his words not mine LOL) he was one with nature, he owned that game. it would only have been fitting for him to win IMO.

the swing vote came down to adumb who proved his name. talk about mature, he based his vote on a promise yul made to him about voting out jonathan before adam. in reality the aitu 4 were going to cut jonathan off as soon as he had served his purpose. and funny adam didn't seem to realize ozzy also voted J out. what a dork...

ah well, there is nothing i can do about it except be ticked :D

andyes i am going to try out. are you freaking kidding, omg i've been waiting since i was 15 to be old enough to try out. i have until jan 30th to send off an audition tape. i'm going to work on one, but the trick is going to be finding out how to transfer the movie from my digital camera to a video tape. why cba won't allow disc audition tapes is beyond me. i'm hopeful, but i'm sure it might take a few times. i just hope i don't ge tlost in the world of recruitments. they seem to be recruiting more and more people which really sucks!

and NO i won't do anything stupid :D i'll make sure to my have LOTR tattoo before i go on so everyone will be able to see me. if i were to be on, i'm pretty sure i'd have to refrain from posting on message boards until the show was done airing. oh my i'm getting ahead of myself aren't i LOL! first step... fill out the application :D

wish me luck
