Amazing what depths declining ratings will make you sink to.

I am not sure I look at it like that DMASS.
I think it adds a completely different dynamic to the game. Survivor's ratings may have slipped here and there but usually it is still on top few for its time slot.
I am for this paring of groups... I assume like last year it will only last a few days and they will group them up.

Yeah...don't get me wrong. I'm still into the show...I just see this as completely unnecessary. I don't need Survivor to be a social commentary...just pick good people, sort them randomly, make good challenges, and leave it at that. If it's only going to be for a few days, it seems like it's a waste of time and a whole lot of hype for nothing. Just a way to get some press prior to the start of the season.
I stopped watching Survivor midway through the 2nd season. I occasionally have gotten talked into watching an episode here and there but will make a point not to watch this season, I wouldn't say I find it particularly offensive to my tastes... just unnecessary in a really negative way. It seems our country is as divided and divisive as its ever been in the last 30-40 years and this kind of programming doesn't help matters.

i can't wait for survivor to start! it's survivor, to me thats all it will ever be. last season was awesome, so i'm hoping for a good season. i just hope we don't end up with a dud like the amazon, africa, thailand etc.

I'm warming up to the idea.
People may talk about it being a grab for ratings, but I think it's a logical progression for the game, which has tried every other kind of grouping.
I'll admit it. I'm fascinated to see how the dynamics will work out. We'll see the same TYPES of people in each group, regardless of their ethnicity. We'll see the ATHLETE, we'll see ANNOYING GUY/GAL, we'll see FLIRT, and we'll see the BRAIN person.
If anything, this season might actually end up showing a lot of people that we're all the same if you strip away the paints jobs and detailing.

I liked the first episode. I think this could well be the most interesting season of all. I think a couple of the tribes just might throw an immunity challenge just to get rid of their most annoying person.
I was fascinated by the way the groups looked at themselves and I think the whole way they play the game is going to be drastically different between this initial stage and once the tribes are merged.

Forgot to mention this for those who don't know...one of the Survivors is from Chico! She's the one who let out the chickens. Jessica Smith is her real name; "Flica Flame" is her roller girl name.

I have the real feeling Jessica just might be the first one voted out of her tribe. Letting the chickens out was incredibly lame.

i only caught the first half ( thanks a lot lindsey for forgetting to tape it for me!) which kind of sucks for me. the challenges are the most boring part for me, i enjoy all the drama/backstabbing/ getting to know the character time in the begininng of the show. ah well, i did get a little of that. plus tribal council, so i guess i can't complain that much....
it's still too early for me to pick out who i think is hot, who i hate, who i love, all that stuff i'm known for LOL. i don't even know who most people are at this point in time
however, i feel like i have to root for i think his name is yul, he's from my home town! san mateo REPRESENTING! holla at you boy! yah thats right
surivivor is back, how else could life be better ( if the kings were back)

Okay, tonight's the night. According to the teasers, Jeff Probst is "stunned" by a romance between two survivors.
This could be interesting...
Well, I don't think we can call it a romance...we'll just call it...
...WEIRD.
You can say that again. In fact, I'm about one step away from calling it ... STALKER!!!
I do not like the idea of a team throwing a competition to vote another member off. I think it reeks and I suspect none of the other survivors will trust the members of that group once the tribes merge. I know I wouldn't. I would have voted off the instigator.

Totally agree and for a moment I thought they were going to vote him off. It is going to be interesting to see what happens to this tribe now.

Oooh...forgot to mention that. I feel the same way about throwing competitions. It stinks.

Throwing the competitioin is not only wrong it's stupid! They should have done everything they could to keep their numbers strong...now whenever they merge they are going to be down a member and they will be picked off one by one! STUPID move!!!

I like the new tribes, at least as far as TV drama and group dynamics are concerned. There are a couple of people who need to be used as shark bait or something for the good of the tribes... Ozzy is one; the goofy girl with the hairdo from outer space is another.
I think the contestants, for the most part, did a pretty good job of debunking the whole "race" issue.
I'm rooting for the blue tribe, at least for now. I think Yul is the one to watch - and was even before he found the immunity idol.

Hey...watch it. She's my hometown representative.
She's also screwed. She just doesn't have the right mind for this game.
Agreed on Yul...he may just turn out to be too nice, though.
