[Game] Suns @ Kings 4/3/12

Hmm. Like I said earlier we needed Tyreke to step up and he just didn't have a good game, so I think this one is on him. At the same time though, I don't like how we didn't put the ball into his hands for pretty much the entire 2nd half. For most of the 4th quarter he barely even touched the ball on offense, other than to feed it to DMC which was working for us. But once the Suns started double teaming Cousins and stuff I would have liked to see the ball given to Tyreke more. That would at very least free up IT for outside shots.

Hayes is trash he can't rebound he gets blockd he's nothing coach smart is an idiot..jt must be really pissed. So should cousins he has no help and tyreake is just a freak u never kno when he's gona show up sad...

I agree. Reke needed to be more aggressive, and he needs to be involved for us to be near our best, and some is on him. But it's also tough when he's getting looked off by teammates the entire 4th quarter. Actually like to see Reke driving and IT spotting up, as you said, but he actually needs a touch to do that.

Also would have put Reke on Nash. We won't win if IT can't slow down opposing pg's.

This one is on the fact that we cannot play team defense against a smart point guard for the life of us. Nash picked us apart like bargains at a garage sale.
We actually played decent defense for us. Held them to 45% shooting and 23% from 3. No one is going to slow down Nash. The Jimmer/Hayes combo going 1 for 13 killed us. If Jimmer hits 2 and Hayes hits one more, this is a one point game and the outcome could have been different.

Funny thing is this happened more in the second half when we moved Tyreke off of him. Just not a good game for anyone on the team not named Thomas, Williams or Cousins.

Them aliens have given us our JT back btw. Thanks aliens!!

25pts 7 assists 3 boards on 13 shots for IT tonight. I have no problem looking off Reke in the 4th as he didn't deserve the ball tonight with the way Boogie was playing and how efficient IT was scoring.

Once again the problem is defense, defense, defense. It's a distinct problem that needs to be fixed in the offseason with new personal

To his credit he tried and did a decent job, but Nash is so crafty that he'll find the tiniest of holes in our defense and get it to his team mates for easy looks. I think our defense became so focused on helping to double Nash and prevent his penetration etc that we left other guys open. And when you do that Nash is going to get them the ball somehow.

I can't stand Grant riding Isaiah's nutz as hard as he does. Granted, Isaiah had a nice game tonight and is a highlight for an otherwise moribound franchise, but stop the love affair and gushing over him

I don't have a super stat machine, but I would say most of that was when Nash was out.

When it came down to it... Nash had his way with us. He was sitting on the bench watching his team lose the lead, calmly stretching his calves. Comes in with around 7 mins to go and instantly kills us on maybe 4 out of 6 possessions. The dude is an assassin. If we signed him next year it would guarantee three more wins just cause he'd be on our team and not the suns. The only way to defend him is massive intelligence and experience, which we don't have yet.

Again, they scored 109. Hold them to their average, and yeah turn the ball over a few less times and hit a few more shots and we have a chance. But honestly people who try to decipher a game based on stats drives me nuts. Anybody who watched that game has a simple explanation: Nash killed us.

How soon people forget Tyreke's rookie year and the hoopla that Grant and Jerry did every broadcast. IT, Boogie and T-Will deserved big time praise tonight.

Can't stop Nash, but you can make it tougher. With both Reke and TWill out there, why not move one of them on Nash and try to hide IT? Not saying pull IT at all, but I'd have liked to see Reke or TWill get a chance at Nash and at least try to hide IT on that end.

Then you are not going to win many games. There was a recent game where Kobe had something to the tune of 0 FG in the first 3 quarters, then scored a few including the game winner in the 4th. Now, Reke is not Kobe. But the point is you have to try and play to your strengths. Key word is try. If you don't even give it a shot then you're essentially saying let's play with 4 guys on offense down the stretch. And the fact is that most young players are not going to be too happy putting in effort on the defensive end if they aren't even TOUCHING the ball on the offensive end. Especially when they are supposed to be one of your best players.

It ain't the same thing. Why? Because Thomas has no shot at ROY. None. As sure as there's no sex in the champagne room, Thomas has no shot at ROY. This whole #IsaiahROY business is an insult.

Family friendly board, dude. No need for the overly colorful language.Thanks...

Agreed. I wanted Reke on Nash. But I think Thomas did what he could down the stretch, and just came up short. If we got a few more defensive rebounds we'd have a better shot. That's what I don't like about our small lineups. Once Cousins has to go outside to help on a pick and roll we have very little chance of getting a defensive board. You can't depend on Evans to rebound over much taller guys. The result was we gave them multiple second opportunities with the clock running down on us.

Tyreke was hot garbage tonight. There are some games where he just isn't dialed in mentally. Absolutely inexcusable for one of our franchise cornerstones.
He definitely played a rather horrendous game, but to his defense he is still adjusting to that SF role. In some games he gets the ball in his hands a lot more (like against the Wolves) and looks more comfortable. But he is not an off the ball player at this point, and he needs the ball in his hands to even have a shot at being effective. I agree that a franchise cornerstone needs to play better, but at the same time you don't move franchise cornerstones out of position and expect them to play up to standard. Last game we had him at the 2 and fed him the ball at the elbow. Where was any of that tonight?

Yes, hoopla for a historic rookie season, its different.

Jerry is just embarrassing with Jimmer as well. Every shot, no matter how ridiuclous, is a "shot you want him to take". The corpoarate shill aspect has just gotten drippy this year.

Franchise Cornerstone players find ways to be the best player on the court, even if they aren't scoring the ball. Guys like LeBron or Dwade will go lock down the other teams best player, grab 10 boards, play passing lanes, and just find ways to be of value if they're shot isn't going like Reke's wasn't tonight. It's more of a maturity thing that Reke certainly has time to develop, but it has to be apart of his development as an off ball player

That's just Jerry and Grant though. They feel the need to give every player a nickname (T-will the thrill anybody?) and blatantly overhype Kings players. I find nothing wrong with giving the 60th pick in the draft who's worked his *** off extra attention; even if he has no shot at ROY

He was playing shooting guard today, unless you believe Donte Greene went from being a backup 4 to a starting SG overnight. Tyreke was sucky today, there is no bones about it. The most discourage part is that he played like an All-star last night, making good decisions, attacking the rim, finding open men. But tonight he was smushed inside, forced the issue, made horrible decisions. I still have very high hopes for Tyreke but he needs to be held accountable when he takes nights off mentally.

Why Twill didn't start is beyond me.

Ummm.....where the F was Tyreke tonite?
Back to back. He didn't have as much energy.

I'm not too disappointing in the game. They were fighting. 4th game in 5 nights, 7 games in 10 nights. Suns haven't played in 3 days and 1 in the last 6.

Free throws were the biggest reason they lost and Jimmer missing wide open shots in the 2nd.
