[Game] Summer League Game 2: Kings v. Nuggets, 5 p.m. PDT/8 p.m. EDT

Toronto blew us out too...are we going to start crowning Cabaclo and Delon Wright superstars too? geez it's just summer league, you look at skills, not boxscore.

I liked what I saw in WCS... I think his rebounding would be drastically improved if he just learns to properly box out.

It's mind boggling that some of the guys that come out of top programs, still don't box out and put a body on someone o_O

Yeah, sure. Gobert has started a whopping 37 games in his career and barely plays over 25 min per game while Favors has yet to justify his draft position after numerous years in the league - but yeah, they are inarguably the best interior defensive team in the NBA, no doubt.

Funny, the Kings true starting 5 was among the best in the league when they all played together last season yet nobody takes that very seriously. But I guess this is different somehow.
You haven't watched very many Jazz games have you.

I believe in inverse relationships. And as a result...I believe that since we won the summer league championship last year and stunk it up in the regular season, the fact that we are stinking up the summer league only means that we will win this upcoming regular season championship.

Or at least...make the playoffs. It's the truf.
How many players on our 2 deep are currently on our summer league team? I'll wait while we calculate...

I am not at all concerned. Not a bit. WCS shows his athleticism, Moreland shows hustle, and well, anything we get out of anyone else is gravy. I'd be surprised if 3 players from this team are on the opening night roster, and I'm OK with that. (Yes, I counted correctly.) As long as we make it out healthy, I'll be OK.

Your missing the point. There hasn't been all that many to watch. Gobert has only been in the league for 2 seasons and hasn't been starter for even half of one. Small sample size.

How about we see these 2 players start an entire season together and Gobert play starter type minutes before making any proclamations?

Um.....so maybe you didn't really follow the conversation. Brick said something about possibly having the best defensive front court THIS YEAR and that included the development of a ROOKIE. You know, like, as in, hasn't played a single game in the NBA. I mentioned that they would have to be second to Gobert and Favors with a ;). Brick then agreed with me (albeit somewhat facetiously) and then went on to explain that Favors and Gobert would be in the running.

Hi everyone, sorry for OT but can someone point me towards a Nuggets forum that is not completely dead in terms of user activity? The ones that pop up in search results are all mostly deserted...

Its way too early to be calling anyone a "Beast" or a "Star" right now

Didn't Donte Greene have a 50 point game in summer league? Lets see how these guys do when it really counts before we make such definitive
staatements

Cuz is a fine rim protector and defender all around, he stepped up his game last year and did much better than most people think.

You pass on a potential star for a weakside blocker?

I guess will just disagree man.
there are MANY "potential stars" out there. Lots of talent in the NBA, period.

Few people actually reach that level. lets wait and see, shall we? WCS can be a lot more than just a weakside blocker ... come on now. You guys have seen all of two meaningless games and
just getting a little wild here.

The best I can point you to is the Denver sbnation site: http://www.denverstiffs.com/

not truly a messageboard, but a Nuggets community with quite a bit of life

Too bad too, I think I remember a Denver fan or two popping in here after they hired Malone/PDA, they might have been better able to guide you.

Honestly, with our SL PG situation what it is, I wonder if they should have WCS playing much at all right now? It's not going to help him develop much with scrubs on the floor, and the risk of injury (playing with ppl desperate to get noticed) far outweighs the benefits. That said, I'm glad they ARE playing him...it's fun to watch and see clues of what we might be getting.

unpopular opinion: WCS =rich mans Ryan Hollins.
Ryan Hollins is a drug store indian. Couldnt move his feet if they were on fire. Couldnt get out of his own way if he were the only person in the room. Couldnt get to half court on a fast break if he started at the top of the key......

WCS is a better in EVERY single phase of the game. So how is this an unpopular opinion? I say its more of a mistake in judgement...
