Summer League candidates for training camp

Mitchell looks solid, can't imagine Honeycutt would have done any better. He's well-rounded and a very good athlete. Not really a fan of the others. Akognon might find a place on a different roster but he makes no sense here. Jackson will probably be our 5th big, which I'm OK with, even if it's not ideal. Gates won't make it.

They are called practice bodies.

Gates played extremely well in the final summer league game. I also watched him play in the Orlando summer league and he played well there as well. So I wouldn't count him out just yet.. I really liked Mitchell, but I think he's more of a shooting guard than a SF. He's listed at 6'6", but looks shorter than that at the games. Very good athlete though, and showed the ability to create his own shot off the dribble. Lee is lights out in the spot up, and he played decent to good defense. Just not sure he brings enough to the table to make a roster. If I were to choose between the players on the Kings summer league team, I would guess the best bet is between Gates and Jackson, since the Kings probably need a little insurance in the frontcourt.

While were looking at players on the Kings summer league roster, lets not forget that there are freeagent players all over the place in Las Vegas. I saw very nice performances by many players that wern't signed to any team, and any one of them could be invited to the Kings camp. I'm going to go over all the players there that impressed me. Some freeagents, and some already signed or drafted previously. I watched around 5 games each day there, so I saw a lot of players.

Ditto. He played like a 6'8" guy. Seemed to me like he has some talent, and if Thornton is traded his chances of making the team may go up.

I think if you looking for consistency from game to game, then Mitchell wins the prize. Personally I think the Kings need some depth in the frontcourt, but if the powers that be, think Mitchell is too talented to let walk, then maybe he has a chance to make the team. He was an exciting player to watch. Always active, even without the ball. We've passed on other summer league players that are now on NBA rosters, so maybe its time we kept one.

That said, would the Kings play Mitchell instead of Salmons? Instead of Outlaw? I would think someone has to go. Hopefully Petrie isn't done making moves. So, could a good showing by Mitchell in training camp make Thornton expendable? And here's the last question. Would you rather have Mitchell or T. Will? Bearing in mind, that Mitchell is cheaper, but T. Will has more experience?

Warriors fans are going nut-so over Bazemore, an athletic shooting guard who is an excellent defender/disruptor. Guess he had a very good SL for them. Atlanta likes him, too.

I would think if they wanted T-Will back, they would have signed him already. I don't think it's a basketball talent or cash strapped owner thing. Maybe some of that baggage about his off the court issues has something to do with the Kings not going after him.

i had a buddy who's an Alabama fan, so i watched numerous games this season and Mitchell was always fun to watch. Super explosive, great guy to throw alley oops to on the fast break. I don't know if he's really what this team needs right now but i think the Maloofs drool over guys like him. Because the Maloofs are all about making a team thats cheap and "fun to watch," so i wouldnt be shocked at all to see Mitchell make the roster.

Jimmer threw him an alley oop from almost halfcourt. Might have been the highlight of the game. Sometimes when you get down to the 13th or 14th player, its better to go with a talented player with a future, regardless of position, than going with a veteran player that fills a need, but probably won't play much.
