GG has not looked good at all in Summer League
avert your eyes, SLAB
Just leaving this stat here. Vegas Summer League final stats:
Kessler Edwards: 8/21 3PT (38%)
Olivier Maxence Prosper: 4/17 3PT (23%)
Extremely small sample size warning! Obviously. But if we are going to say Kessler isn't a three point shooter based on his 65-191 3PT (34%) in his ENTIRE NBA career, then we can make staggering conclusions based on summer league as well. Neither of these guys is close to a finished product, but suggesting Kessler is a finished product and OMP is future 3/D star doesn't seem warranted. OMP didn't look ready in Vegas. Good defense, but not better than Kessler. Not much shooting success, or even desire to shoot the three. Keep in mind that his numbers are for 5 games, so he averaged (.8/3.4 per game) compared to Kessler at 4 games (2.0/5.2 per game). I like OMP, but he has got to be a more willing and capable shooter to stick.
Kessler’s also still just like a year and a half older than OMP too
My mind keeps switching it to OMC, but maybe that’s because of How Bizarre I find this whole discussion.I'm old enough that I feel OMP should stand for "Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Park".
didnt kessler edwards average like 5 turnovers per game here in summer league? should we make staggering conclusions based on that as well?Just leaving this stat here. Vegas Summer League final stats:

Well I would hope Kessler is not in a position to handle the ball so much that he would have 5 turnovers on the main team. Kessler, OMP, and any other 3/D wing is going to be asked to guard the other team's best wing and hit threes. Those are the only two things that really matter about their performance- can they guard and can they hit threes? I am glad Kessler is working on his game and one on one skills, but I honestly don't care that he has a loose handle trying to create offense as a second option on offense. If Kessler is trying to create offense, or is anything more than a three point shooter on the main roster we are in main trouble.
O-Max isnt really a 3 and D wing though.. Thats not why he got drafted so high, he's a Dunks and D combo forward, he was one of the players with the most dunks in the nation --- He shot 63% from 2 point range last season, the only way you shoot that kind of % from 2pt range in the big east is if you throw down thunderous dunks often..
So I think your really mischaracterizing a few things because in SL is just the place where you'd want Prosper to let it fly n chuck up lots of 3's, the Mavs need minutes from him so he should be getting as much reps in shooting as possible incase he gets left wide open.
Kessler Edwards is some long term solution here, is that what you think? Seems more like a placeholder to me, from the SL games I caught he was totally underwhelming. To me the fact that our backup unit is so strong means our 3rd stringers are even more replacable. I was in fact someone here vouching for Dominick Barlow 2 drafts ago, he's way better than Edwards already n years younger.
Oh man, I think you are wrong about what people hope Prosper will become. In fact, Dallas better hope Prosper is more than a dunks and D combo forward. I'm not sure the secret to winning with Luka and Kyrie is to put a dunks and D combo forward next to a dunks and D center. They are going to man the center position with guys like Holmes, Lively, and Powell, and you think they want another non-shooter on the wing? It is fine to have one lob threat player for Luka and Kyrie, but playing two is going to bog down their offense. If they play Luka, Kyrie, and a rim runner 5, then the two wings have to be outside shooters and carry the defense. Prosper is definitely not the answer for them if he can't shoot.
Also, if Prosper isn't a shooter, then why would people want him in Sac? Like Dallas, if we are starting Domas and Fox, a non-shooting dunker seems like the wrong guy to play on our wing. Prosper has got to shoot better if he is going to help teams built like Dallas or Sac.
And Kessler has got to shoot better if he is going to help us. I agree that Kessler probably isn't the long term answer for us. Definitely not if he tops out at 34% 3PT. The ideal long term answer at wing alongside Keegan is shooting a consistent 40% 3pt and playing great D. But if Kessler keeps getting better and can shoot 38-40% on high volume, without losing his D skills, then he definitely is a long term answer, and probably is a long term starter alongside Domas, Fox, and Keegan.
