Suit etiquitte

I purchased a suit today, and the sport coat has a "label" (the designer's name on a 'cloth' tag) on the left sleeve. I will need to get the suit tailored but, in the meantime, I need to wear it tomorrow.

I'm a little bothered about the label, though: I think it looks ridiculous, and want to cut it off, but if it's proper etiquitte to leave it on, I'll do that instead. What's the protocol in this situation?

ok.

if it bothers you, take it off

as long as the stitching won't show, it should look fine.

I would definitely lose it Slim. There really is no downside (as long as you remeber/write down any significant info on it). And the upside is avoiding looking silly or pretentious. (silly if its a generic label, pretentious if its some top designer). I'd just cut it off and not sweat it.

I don't know about proper etiquette, S£im, but IMHO labels are for identification and pricing. The location of said label sounds like it's begging to be removed. You're not the type of person who bought the suit because of who designed it. Unless I miss my guess, there's some formal occasion that you needed it for - the label sounds presumptious and totally non-S£im like.

I'd remove it; and hope the label police don't show up at your door.

;)

I totally agree with VF, Slim. Lose the label. Pretentiousness is not your style.

Actually, it's not a formal thing at all; I'm in TAP (Transition Assistance Program) class this week, and tomorrow is "Dress for Success" day.

I would just come in a baggy white t-shirt with a giant gold medallion and tell them you are planning to become a successful NBA player. ;)

Cut it off... it's comon for some desingers to put the label on the sleeve for rack sorting purposes but the the tags are not menat to be left on after purchace. (Trust the guy who has to wear the dam things almost daily.)
