Don't Make Me Use The Bat
Huh? It took more minutes for Kevin to become consistent imo.. Adelman didn't play him in his rookie year.. His second year out there he was backup and did awesome. The rest is history.. I remember watchig him his rookie year wondering why he couldn't get more minutes.. Than I realized who was coaching.
What you apparently missed was in year 1 Kevin sucked (shot less than 40%) and we had a bunch of talent ahead of him still trying to accomplish something. In that situation he did not deserve minutes.
And in year 2 he was actually sucking as a backup again -- Kevin may be a bit like Salmons in that regard. He had actually dropped entirely out of the rotation after Ray Allen embarrassed him in a late November/early December meeting. It was Bonzi's injury that first opened him up by giving him a hcance to step in as a starter.
As for Thompson -- our situation has changed. He's still a disaster out there, but that no longer really matters to us. Mikki sucks, but he knows how to play, you can count on what he is going to do. You can build a team and offense with Mikki in mind and he's limited, but he'll help. Thompson on the other hand is just a major distraction wihtout a clue at the moment, and would be frustrating to play with, let alone coach. But the difference is that we are rebuilding now, and getting guys like him out there to accelerate their growth and get them past this mess is part of that deal. Mikki as a starter to settle things I will accept. But moving KT up above him off the bench would just be unacceptable. Biggest x-factor = will Brad and Spencer play together so much that it basically becomes a 3-man rotation of Brad, Mikki and Spencer, with Jason reduced to spot/garbage minutes.
