Special K , DS , Barnes and Mo Evans ...

Just wondering do you think RA gets it yet ? When he put these 4 in the game our D and rebounding improved not to mention our offense gets explosive ... i say more mins. for all these guys and let them help us win , as for House , it was failed experiment , and i think we dont need a PG out there at all times .. what do you guys think ?

Barnes didn't play. But the bench was a big part of the Kings win. They shot well and had lots of energy. Great to see Special K!

I know he didnt play , but just saying agianst more faster and more athletic teams that out young bench should get more mins ...

Rick is experimenting, seeing what works and how it works. When it works he keeps going back (Mo) and when it doesn't he tries it a few more times (House). I think we will see a lot of the young guns in certina situations.

Gets what? He went to the bench at just the right time and it paid HUGE dividends. He made excellent use of Kevin, MO and Darius - giving our starters enough rest to come in and finish the game. If anything, I might have kept Pedja out but having him on the floor kept Patterson occupied and freed up other players.

But I know people have to bash Adelman. It's bad enough when we lose; it's just humorous to me when we win AND I think the coach has done a pretty good job. My only question would be about Tag but the pace of the game was fast and that could have been part of the problem. Tag only has two speeds - slow and "My God, I think he's dead."

The lineup of Cat, Evans, and Martin is absolutely dominant defensively. It will only work for short stints... But it is an awesome lineup

Im sorry , i wasnt trying to bash RA , he is the one that help Kings become what they are , hes a hell of a coach and , im just saying , last couple of games our starters have been getting killed on the boards , and getting beat on D agianst more athletic teams , i just think games like these the bench need to get more time ... i know we are winning but i think we can play 20x better than how we played ...

I agree we can and will need to play much better. If you're watched the Kings for long at all, you'll realize that having RA go to the bench as much as he does is HUGE. He is, as was pointed out, trying out a lot of different combinations NOW so he'll know who plays best with whom later down the road.

We have 8 - count em - 8 new faces on the team that weren't here last year. That is a phenomenal turnover, especially for the Kings. Martin, Evans, Daniels, House, Tag, Barnes, Mobley and Bradley... RA and the staff are going to have to figure out the best combinations, when to play them, against whom, etc. It's a learning process for everyone.

I agree that I would much rather see Kevin out there than House, for example, but I don't know what House is really capable of and at least he's getting a fair shot. That's something RA has been widely criticized for before so I can't find too much to complain about right now.

We won and RA learned some things about some of the new guys. He and his staff are like sponges right now, soaking up as much information as possible to enable them to make the best choices further down the road. I think, with the possible exception of how Tag is being utilized (and I could be very wrong on that score) RA is doing a pretty good job.

I'm sorry if I come off really strong but RA is doing a helluva job considering the turnover in personnel, the injury to Bobby, Bibby's owie, etc. Let's see what happens before we assume he doesn't know what he's doing.

;)

Evans is the real deal!!! This guy is good enough to be a starter. But having him come off the bench is that much better!!! Great 6th man.

another candidate of 6th man?

Special K got his first taste of a BIG ARCO welcome when he came into the game tonight. During the pre-season, when he was starting for Doug, doesn't count because the crowd is not in mid-season form. They let out a VERY appreciative roar for him when he came in. Apparently a lot of people in attendance tonight were on the play Special K band wagon;) and he did not disappoint

Yeah I'd love to see these guys be given more minutes. I think they've shown that they can be counted on. Bottomline, I think we've got a good group of guys. :)

I'm a big fan of our new young players, big fan. Although some people don't think as well of him now, I even think Barnes can still offer this team a lot. For now and for the future.

Anyway, having Martin, Maurice and Matt all out there on the floor does improve our defense and rebounding, but after they're on the floor for about 6-7 minutes, our offense usually drops off as well.

These guys, as with most bench players, are most effective in limited minutes. The majority of games where Adelman has left these guys out there for longer stretches than normal has usually resulted in the offense taking a nose dive.

This is sans when one guy catches fire and Adelman leaves him in.

Anyway, I think Adelman is using a pretty solid sub pattern in games with these guys. It may seem odd for Rick to pull these guys out when they've only just played a 6-8 minute stretch, but in most cases after this amount of time has went by, their production decreases quite a bit as well.

The only thing I'd like to see more of is Kevin Martin. Blazers are one of those small athletic teams, so it wasn't much of a surprise we saw a bit of KMart during the Portland game.

I personally feel KMart is ready to contribute now, and also that he needs the minutes. He fits this system we run pretty nicely, and he seems like a capable NBA player now, especially running in say, 6-8 minute stretches.

Adelman has mentioned he's cautious about playing rookies a lot of minutes, and that's something I've always partially disagreed with. A lot of minutes aren't always good for rookies, but no minutes IMO aren't good for them either. They need *some* time on the floor.

The appreciative roar came through, on television, loud and clear for Special K and, as you say, he did not disappoint. He may only be getting short stints right now but, if he keeps producing like he has been, he has a HUGE future with this team. The kid is always ready when called upon and, I like that and, I would imagine that RA likes that too.

Don't know about others, but I feel comfortable playing Darius all the time. Since the vicotry in LA last year - Darius is the man.

Agreed. While he seldom gets much attnetion and rarely looks flashy Darisu has been so consistant as to be boreing and his subtle game makes him almost forgetable with Martin and Evans on the floor, it would be a great mistake to under value his contribution.

Totally agree, but you have to admit that Adleman has done a better job getting the bench guys into the game more often, and mixing it up. You can hardly fault Adleman for the job he has done lately.

I totally agree with that one. Barnes is 6'8" and can pass really well. I like this bench!!

Everyone was complaining that Petrie needed to make the team more athletic. Guess what? He did it! And pretty much without anyone knowing! Sportscasters seem reluctant to mention that fact.

Same here. I have a lot of confidence in the guy, that even though he's not making his shots some nights, he's always intense and trying to hustle, hustle, hustle. Plays good D, too, I think.
