Special Games Now?

Well, I guess we have come to the situation where we can reasonably expect the Kings to lose any given game, on any given night. My way to cope is that I shall place all my energy and hopes on a few special games. The Kings can lose 60 games, fine. They just need to beat Phil Jackson and the Los Angeles Kobes.

I've said before that I don't care if this team goes 4-78, as long as the four wins are against the Lakers...

I'm starting to wonder if they've decided to take that literally...

My special games are the NO, and grizz, hawks, sixers because we MIGHT be able to beat those teams.

So this is all your fault?

(Good to see you posting again, quick dog, BTW.)

I don't know how much lower I can lower my expectations but I guess I'll just have to try.

I may have to just start settling for one or two good quarters.

...sigh...

Well I'm feeling really schizophrenic right now. I want my team to win. I would never, ever want them to deliberately lose. But at best, I can only see this team squeaking into the 8 seed and getting whipped in the first round. I'd rather they went to the lottery. Does that make me a bad Kings fan? :o

Nope. It proves you are, in fact, a Kings fan. This isn't a team. You know, I know, and - most importantly - they know it. They don't like to lose any more than we like them to lose. And I'm pretty sure they don't like the ongoing drama, etc.

We need players that work together. Chemistry matters. We need a coach that doesn't sit there dejectedly as his team is trying to come back and win a game. Leadership matters.

This team is broken. Bandaids and super glue aren't gonna fix it. At this point, I think it's becoming very clear to almost anyone who cares that the TEAM Sacramento Kings doesn't exist right now. The whole thing needs Extreme Makeover: Kings edition, and they need it sooner rather than later.

I love the Sacramento Kings but I feel like I'm watching a slow and painful death for no reason.

It makes you a Kings fan with perspective.

The fan who truly wants his team to "win" may very well wnat them to get inot the lottery this year. Its all about persepctive. Win less for one year. But over the next 10 years you could end up seeing the Kings win far more if we can nab a great young big prospect. Teh people who are desperate for us to get a #8 seed and requisite spanking aren'ty superior fans who want their team to win more, they are jsut fans who want their team to win NOW, and are even willing to sacrifice them winning in the future to do that. That is not smart.

Even if we lose every game between now and the end of the season, there is NO guarantee we'd get the first pick. In addition, there's no guarantee Oden is going to declare for this year's draft.

I know. It was more of a frustration statement. At this rate we will land in the top 10 and get a big man so at least that is one positive thing to look at. Plus we should have some money to work with at the end of the season.

I'm just never going to be convinced that getting a top draft pick is our salvation. Everytime I think about it a little voice screams "PERVIS!!!" at the top of its little lungs...and I shudder.

Like I said on the wrestling board I post at, with our luck, Petrie would end up with the #2 pick and use it to draft Julian Wright.

^Not me. Getting screwed like that is a freak occurance. I see a group of nice healthy young big boys for us to choose from. Hopefully it will be like getting a young C-Webb and we can start the run over. Plus a couple development years of course.

Heck, now would be the time to get a Justin Williams out on the court in a Kings uni. Since we are developing players anyway.

i would have to disagree with this post. i want the kings to win n.o.w. that doesnt change my status as a loyal fan to this club for a couple reasons. as much as we suck we're not even half as bad as half the teams in the east. granted there are many prospects coming into the 07' draft; not many of them will give us help in the paint. we're not gonna get a steal in this draft. if it were the opposite i wouldnt mind the teams' playoff hopes taking a kamikaze dive into the colorado rockies.

what is a superior fan?

We'd be dead last in the Central division and only Charlotte and Atlanta have worse records in the Southeast.

We would be at the top in the Atlantic. woot. To me that's like saying we should be happy to have first class tickets on the Titanic.

I would hope we'd at least get a top 10 pick in the draft and maybe even top 5 if we got lucky. Its hard to call anybody in the top 10 a "steal." At this point its likely our best shot at a future superstar or at least star player.

I am so ready to for this team to make a decision to make some really bold moves. I am tired of "finger in the dike" moves. Let go, let the flood hit and then rebuild new.
