On February 11th 2004 Kings won in Detroit 96-94 to improve to 37-13 for the season. It was a great game decided by Pedja who used Vlade's screen to hit a jumper in the last second for the win. Yet again Kings managed 31 assist for 37 FGs. Also Kings survived -15 in rebounding mostly because 11-4 advantage in 3pt FGs. Mike Bibby lead the Kings with 26/2/5/2, Pedja had 25/8/4/2, Brad had another insane game with 18/15/5/2, DC had 11/2/5 and Vlade had 4/1/11. Bench sucked.
All-Star Peja Stojakovic appears to be in good form for the Shootout at All-Star Weekend.Stojakovic, the two-time defending champion of the shooting competition, nailed a long jump shot with three-tenths of a second remaining to lift the Sacramento Kings to a 96-94 triumph over the struggling Detroit Pistons.
"I wouldn't bet against him," Kings coach Rick Adelman said. "He's the best shooter in the league right now, in my opinion."
"That was a great look and a great play," Stojakovic said. "It worked for us all night - we put Mike, Vlade and I in the corner and worked off each other's screens. That time, it was me who got open, but we had gotten a lot of great shots for Mike off the same play tonight."
"He shoots like Larry Bird out there," said Detroit's Richard Hamilton, who scored 27 points. "When he took that last one, I knew it was going in, because he'd been making those all night."

Kings are on a legitimate roll winning 5 straight and 6 straight at home which is the 3rd hottest streak in the NBA right after Pistons and Mavs which is saying something. At 22-26 - Kings are only 2 games out of the 8th spot. Right now - there are 6 teams inside 2.5 games from 7th to 12th spot in the Western conference and since neither is good enough to break away - it will be very interesting rest of the regular season unless some crazy trades happen. After finishing back to back home and home with the Sonics - Kings will go on the road to visit Eastern conference and who knows - maybe things turn around for what is worth it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
"home and home" back to back is a weird situation and it might be closest experience the both teams will have to a PO situation this season. Well, Sonics anyways - we still have a chance. For a team that has won the first game it is natural to relax a bit and maybe even "underestimate" the opponent especially if the first win came easy. This is where a good coach takes over. He has to be good motivator because he doesn't need to talk about game plan or scouting reports. He has to keep the team sharp. DO we have a coach like that - of course not. Are we screwed - not really because we still have ARCO. Anyways, it will be interesting to see the adjustments and the reactions to them. If Kings come out flat - someone hasn't done his job again.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finally, Muss did something right by finding Minutes for Cisco Garcia. Obviously, that was caused by injuries and Mike Bibby sucking to high heaven but still Cisco did very well. 17/5/5st are good numbers even for a starter in this league. It also isn't the first time that Cisco played this well. All this raises 2 questions. First, can Cisco finally be somewhat more consistent which he did lack in the past but moreover can Muss find him the minutes without having injuries or people sucking because it is hard to be relaxed on the floor when You don't know how long You will play and when You don't know whether You can afford to make a mistake. Either way, I liked what I saw from Cisco last night and I sure am hoping for more.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just not Brad's season either. Started slow due to an injury. After he came back - it took him a while to get some rhythm and started playing much better in the last couple of weeks resulting in whole team going form pathetic to mediocre which is the best we can be anyways. After a "setback" from last night - he will miss another week or so and he might even need longer to get back to playing well. One thing we don't have to worry about is loss of athleticism and speed because one can't lose what one doesn't have. This has also totally ruined Muss plan to make Brad shoot threes. Let's hope that Muss isn't crazy enough to keep the plan replacing Brad with KT or SAR.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So our front line includes SAR, KT, Corliss and Williams making it the worst in the NBA. Just our luck. It is expected to see Cisco, Ron, Kevin and Salmons getting some minutes at PF position. Muss will do that and Don Nelson will envy him. We went from Webber, Divac, Pollard, Clark, to Webber, Divac, Miller, Songaila, to Webber, Miller, Ostertag, to Miller, KT, SAR, Williamson to now - KT, SAR, Williamson, Williams even if it is for a week or so. Looks like a travesty to me. Even Tony Massenburg looks good right about now.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Coaches corner - Probably unintentionally, Muss did a good job last night and it was the coldest day in hell too. He limited Bibby's sucking for only 25 minutes. He got a lot production off the bench mainly Cisco and Corliss did the damege but he let them play. He was probably busy for the bigest part of the half time break resulting the kool-aid to be somewhat less toxic. Obviously, the Sonics helped a bit but let's just see what happens tonight before we extend the praise and give him some credit.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Beating Sonics was pretty easy. We out shot them, out rebounded them, our bench killed their bench we even didn't lose the 3rd quarter. Finally, we managed to increase the lead that we built compared to so many times when we just gave it away. Cisco was great, Ron and Kevin as usual, SAR and KT above sucking, Corliss decent. Even Salmons wasn't too bad. Lewis canceled the chronical sucking of Mike Bibby and llen was held to poor shooting night. Very nice win overall.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME
TDM goes to Wilcox one last time. He is not eligible for this award anymore, which I am sure won't stop him from torching us again and again and again.
LW-VC award went to Lewis because Kings won eventhough Bibby sucked at least as bad.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sonics again - making it very boring and also very difficult for the players. I would be shocked if Kings win as easily. I expect better performance from Lewis and hope for a better one by Bibby. Their bench will play better. If we can shoot as well as we did and also rebound nicely - we should win this game. It won't be as easy tough.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - stop crying and start playing. Just do something
Kevin - keep it up kid
Ron - let't just keep this very quiet
Brad - get well soon
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Cisco - very nice and do it again
Rest - mateen
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Muss - can he continue to let the kids play ? Who is going to shoot threes now ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sonics suck and at ARCO we should win but they will play better. Allen and Lewis will show up more, Wilcox will kil us again. Their bench is the key. If they play better - it will be much harder for us to win this game. Earl Watson will win TDM and hopefully Allen or Lewis will get the LW-VC award. Also Kings bigs are always candidates to suck and Bibby too.
