Sonics going to Oklahoma City

Sad day for basketball. Puts some pressure on us to get our arena deal taken care of.

Bennett is a spineless clown. He didnt take into consideration an entire fanbase and city. If he wanted an NBA team in OKC, he should have tried to get an expansion team. Ridiculous for that city to have to go through it. I feel ya Seattle. R.I.P. Sonics.

On another note, I guess when the Kings moved from Kansas City, they didnt bring many fans to games there. KC is a Chiefs town, but back when the King moved in the 80's, it was a Royals town. LOL man how things change. The Royals.......

NBA was way different then as well, it was Jordan's rookie year. It would have been intresting to see what would have happened if the Kings and Clippers could have stayed in KC and San Diego. NBA's whole economics changed so much after they moved.

That is a fair assessment. It was also right around the time the Boston-LA rivalry was getting heated again too. The game definitely changed after that.

can't believe oklahoma city is getting a nba franchise, i think there are more deserving cities out there

Do you figure the Sonics will remain the sonics or be called something different like the Sooners, Part II.

The Sonics name and colors stay with Seattle. I do not know what the new team name will be.

They already agreed on that. The sonics name, logo history will remain in seattle and they will be called something else in OKC.

It's not R.I.P. for Sonics name in Seattle or their colors. Should they ever get an NBA franchise back in the Emerald City they can have both back if they want. There was suppose to be a contest going on in OKCity to decide new team name and whether they are to be Oklahoma City or just Oklahoma.

Years ago, I lived for awhile around two suburbs of OKCity (Midwest City and Dell City) and hated every f'ing second. Boring, flat, ugly red clay landscapes, high winds, power outages with frequent tornado threats. The place is really-really small, it must now rival Memphis for the NBA tiniest market. The average house in OKCity has a median value of something like $85,000 vs. around $350,000 in Seattle. What nuts to move for those "greener" pasturers.

Seattle will probably get a new team in the next few years. The owner is a pile of crap, and that would keep me away from games just to get him out of there.

I predict by 2015 the Sonics will live again.

I know Bennett gets a bad rap, but how stupid was Schultz for selling the team to an Oklahoma City group that was looking for a team if they really wanted to keep the team in Seattle.
