Some 'Under the Radar' FA's this offseason we wont have to break the bank for..

Im opening this thread to talk about some potential FA's that could come in and help us on the cheap next season. I got a few guys in mind that I would love to see on this roster next year...

Trevor Ariza (UFA) - This guy could be that SF were looking for. Assuming we can get rid of Nocioni or Garcia, I would love to have this guy. He's 23 and 6'8. He is arguably the Lakers BEST defender ( lord knows we need some defensive players ) and he is learning how to score. He is averaging 12pts, 4 Ast, and 4 Rebs so far in the playoffs. I dont know how much money he'll want, or how much the Lakers will be able to offer him, but I think he is a player worth taking a look at at the least..

Glen "Big Baby" Davis (RFA) - He has been SO good for the Celtics during the playoffs with Garnett down. He's putting up 17 points and 8 Rebs a game ... and I know he can play off the bench. He is a BIG dude, the bruiser type .. something we dont have and something we could use .. If we DONT get Griffin, I also think he would be a good player to sign.

Marcin Gortat (RFA)- Another good third big. Bruiser who likes to play in the paint, he is young and from Poland. Whats not to like? Him and SVG dont get along, we could get him on the cheap and he could surprise some people..

Were going to have to Add players this offseason, and I think these guys could actually help now AND later. Theres also Ramon Sessions and Anderson Varajao to look at, butI dont like Andy that much and I think Sessions will find a way to stay with the Bucks ..

If Garnett's injury ends up being career-ending, which seems to be the elephant in the room no one is willing to acknowledge, I see the Celtics holding on to Davis with both hands. He's no Kevin Garnett but he's certainly a valuable presence in the paint.

I was going to start a similar thread. There are a few potential big men out there who could fit the "Pollard" role for us as third big off the bench, providing defense and hustle play. Gortat is one, Fesenko another. Also Pachulia from Atlanta, although now checking out his salary he's already making $4 million/per, so not as cheap as the other two.

A massive F!@# NO! on Glen "Cry Baby" Davis.

I couldn't stand to look at that dumb looking mf'er for one second in a Kings jersey.

Gortat is interesting in how little exposure he gets because he plays behind Howard. Here's some stats of him when he got 20+ mins a game.
@UTH - 30 mins, 4 pts, 4 rebs, 5 blks
@GSw - 27 mins, 16 pts, 13 rebs, 3 blks
ATL - 20 mins, 6 pts, 11 rebs
CHI - 23 mins, 13 pts, 15 rebs
MIL - 23 mins, 10 pts, 11 rebs, 2 blks
CLE - 20 mins, 7 pts, 8 rebs, 3 blks
@MIL - 42 mins, 10 pts, 18 rebs, 1 blk

This guy has seemed to produce when given proper minutes. Now I only listed games where his stats may jump off the page. In most other games, he played less then 15 mins. He also started off in the season with many DNP-CDs. He averaged about 12 mins per game so Orlando rarely utilized him. He could be a solid pick up on the cheap.

Fesenko on the other hand rarely saw any playing time. I mean, the guy didn't even exist unless someone briefly mentioned the bench fodder. In games where he played 15 or more minutes, he produced quite well though.

DAL - 15 mins, 8 pts, 4 rebs, 3 blks
@HOU - 34 mins, 12 pts, 11 rebs, 3 blks
@DEN - 15 mins, 6 pts, 3 rebs, 4 blks (2 stls)

He only had one other game in the entire season where he played more then 15 mins, but he didn't produce much in that. As you can see though, both of these big lugs have the potential to be solid bench guys that can be ready to contribute. And I'm sure they both wouldn't mind trying to find some playing time coming to the Kings where they wouldn't have to play behind all-star centers. Fesenko is about 22 turning 23 this next season. Gortat just turned 25 a couple of months back. Both are young studs waiting to be utilized properly. I honestly wouldn't mind having either of them coming off the bench for us, especially for cheap.

I have mentioned Marcin Gortat a while ago but I don't think he will come cheap. He is a young player with some big man skills. There would be european clubs lining up with big offer to entice him back to europe.

I certaily would love for us to get him. He is young, a good role player big man and we could get him at a reasonable contract he could develop into a really handy player for us. He is a much better shot blocker than Pollard was but has the potential to give us that sort of impact and be part of the new 'bench mob'

Being that someone mentioned Fesenko, here's a little blurp from Real GM.

As a third-year player, Fesenko could not be sent to the NBA Development League next season. The Jazz have invested more than $2 million in his development and could risk watching Fesenko flourish with another team should they decline the option.
Fesenko, 22, would be expected to draw interest from Sacramento, where his former agent Jason Levien is assistant general manager, as well as Oklahoma City, where former Jazz director of player personnel Troy Weaver is assistant general manager.

Puts a little different slant on it. I like him, but he's still on the learning curve. He could be a good future investment though..

Fesenko is REALLY under the radar...

other guys i had in mind would be

Ersan Ilyasova... hes young has played a couple of minutes in the nba with the bucks and never really got a shot..

hes 21 years old and is 6"10

what ever happened to sergei monia btw? wasnt he a king?

As I've stated before, the Bucks are between a rock and a hard place. They have $64,912,000.00 commited in salaries next year without signing either Sessions or Villanueva. Plus they have a first round pick that they will have to sign. The current cap for this last year was 58.68 mil and reports are that its going to go down a little for next year.

Sessions only made between 7 and 8 hundred thousand last year, and based on how he played the second half of the season, deserves a decent raise. The Bucks are suddenly in love with Sessions, but perhaps a little too late. They have other players that can play the point, but a lack of good big men. This might make Villanueva a more important signing to them. I don't think that there's any way that they will sign both.

Sessions is a young point guard thats just starting to find himself. I would love to have him on the Kings.

over paying bogut and getting a near 30 year old jefferson can do that to them

Under the Radar may have been the wrong phrase, but any of these guys will accept a deal for well under 10 mil and all have upside. Cant say that about Sheed, AI, Hedo ect..

I think you should be Sessions' agent. :)

If you like Big Baby, then you draft Blair at #23 and pay him less. Big Babby is a poor man's Blair.

It bugs me we didn't go after Ariza before he was traded to the Lakers. I like Ariza a lot. He would be great for the Kings.

The thing with Ariza is that he is playing on a good team with an established system. He gets a lot of dunks set up by his teammates and open 3s set up by kobe and the team's good ball movement. He doesn't have any offensive skills to get his own shots. I don't know how good he will be on a team that is so young and rebuilding. We have enought young guys that can't get their own shots already.

His D is good in terms of getting deflections and picking off lazy cross court passes because of his length, athleticism and anticipation. But as a man to man or on ball defender, he is actually just average.

His agent also already said Trevor should be more than a full MLE player.

He's very young. He's getting better every year. Also, I believe strongly that the 3 position needs to be an excellent help defender. He has to come quickly from the a long ways out to get into the lane. Ariza is perfect for that. He's long and quick.

Lets talk about real players who have real skills. Carlos Delfino wants back in the NBA. The Blazers can't keep everyone they have, and that will be addressed. Sessions would be an expensive investment, and he isn't proven. The Pistons aren't going to spend much retaining Amir Johnson, and i think we could steal him for the full MLE. I also know that the Nets are done evaluating Ji Jianliang, if we want to get creative.
