Slow response time?

Is anyone else experiencing periodic problems with the board? It seems, at times, as though it's incredibly slow in posting responses, to the point where I've hit the "submit" button and ended up with two or three duplicate posts.

And, at other times, it's almost impossible to switch between threads or forums.

Is this just my usual lousy connection or is anyone else experiencing these kinds of frustrations?

I have a cable connection, but I have had some problems like that. Not a lot, but I've had to close my browser and re-open to the site, because it seemed like I was stuck.

I just got online today, but I was having that same trouble last night. I finally gave up and shut down my computer.

I wander if volume of poeple online has anything to do with, the number have been higher then normal since the draft.

I thought of that but there hasn't been any correlation between number of people on the site and the problem. I was having it early this morning when there were less than 30 people total (including guests and crawlbots) on the board.

I was about to say I hadn't noticed anything, and then I looked up to see 6 tabs all waiting and trying to load.

Still, I haven't noticed anything take more than a minute before things are fast again.

Happened again earlier today. Seems like shutting the browser window down and reopening works sometimes.

Is anyone else still having problems with the response time for the board? It seems to have slowed to a crawl at times - and then when it resumes I've got double posts to deal with.

It may be time for a server upgrade. I'll have to see what I can afford. Probably won't be able to get to it for a couple of weeks at least, I'm still swamped at work.

Yes, I have been having some problems. I have a cable connection, and there are times where the site takes 10-15 seconds to load. Then, when I respond, many times I get a message saying that I posted duplicate responses.

You know, if you just click one time, that wouldn't happen.

Sometimes you just have to have faith that the computer took your command when you clicked the first time; clicking multiple times is BCT (Bad Click Technique).

Sorry, Slim, but when I've been waiting a couple of minutes I get very frustrated and tend to click the submit button again, BCT or no BCT.

Guess we need to campaign for more contributing members. One bright spot....we don't have to depend on the Sacramento City Council for help.

Not so... It's happened multiple times (not just on this site but on other boards that I post on) where if the website freezes up, even pressing it once results in multiple posts. Although, that is typically the reason why.
